    I just went out on my balcony with my Sekonic L-758 light meter and checkt the exposure under very cloudy light because: Exposure should be fine under the sunny 16 rule with an aperture of f9, a 120th of a second shutter and 400 speed film. And it is. I’m getting a 125th of a second shutter speed at f9 at 400 ASA. So I think the conditions that she was shooting under were a really cloudy. You should also make sure that you’re not shooting expired film because that looses its speed over time. The other thing is expectations. Pretty much all 400 speed films can handle underexposure by one stop fine and will give still usable but moody looking images.

    This is odd I used gold 200 and ultramax 400 no issues. FYI you can switch to a more open aperture by enabling the flash. Take out the battery if you don’t want the flash to go off. I think it’s F7 flash on and F9 flash off. It just won’t focus to infinity tho.

    I really appreciate that this review acknowledged the user error at the start rather than just saying "Oh it's a bad camera". This is a great video and both sets of photos are honestly incredible, but going through the "proper" way of shooting it and showing what's possible was so valuable. Thanks for taking the time to do it right!

    I grabbed one of these today. I've got some recently expired Kodak T-Max 400 in it. I'll definitely aim for bright days which shouldn't be an issue considering Australia is in Summer currently. Love your photos, especially of Goonies beach! Being a kid in the 80's, that was one of my favourite movies. When friends ask me why I went back to film, I say because looking at a film shot reminds me more of what I see in my memory when I am remembering something. It isn't a perfectly clear shot in my memory, but something like a burnt in real image that will never leave (plus I missed film after growing up since the late 1970's and my first foray in to photography in the late 1980's was obviously film).

    Thanks for sharing this video. After 50 years of shooting film, and having way too many pro cameras expensive film cameras in my closet, collecting dust, I bought a point and shoot a couple of weeks ago. I did the same thing. I went out and shot a roll; and had so much fun pointing and shooting, and not really thinking about anything except composition. I'm thinking about shooting 1600 instead of even 800, two more stops will get me in a realm of reality at somewhere between f4 and f5.6, theoretically. Please stay well. By the way you're a great photographer. This proves that it's more about the person behind the camera than the camera. Right? ;-=)}

    What do you use to get back your film scans (i.e. thedarkroom.com)? New to film

    Did you use the 800 film on the sunny days as well?

    Ohhhh that Oregon coast ❤️ really wonderful, beautiful camera. I photograph professional and find having 1,000,000 digital photo means no family fun photos ever make it into print. Picked up the RETO 22mm wide lens and would love to have some more pocket point and snaps to play with. Comments: so would you also use 800 on a sunny day? Or was that only a comment for cloudy days?

    Amazing Review! Just purchased and this will be my first film camera ever. This is maybe a dumb question but how did you get the film scanned for online upload to showcase in the YT video? (:
