In my opinion if your deer hunting you need to use the ammo that gives you the best cold bore group because realistically you only going to get one or 2 shots off.
@phild9813
Жыл бұрын
I agree, but only to the degree that the bullet of the winner has the correct construction for the intended use. If I were elk hunting, for example, I’d probably run the all copper rounds that had the “worst” group. Still plenty good for hunting at the ranges intended for the 350.
@Rickkari7

@@phild9813 I believe your right. I shot some 6.5 Grendel Fort Scott TUI copper rounds and if I recall right, the first shot on cold bore was bullseys, but the group went south after that. I wanted to use it for white tail but blew it off. Your comment makes sense though. Probably the ammo I should use. I'll have to revisit it. Thanks for the comment. Definitely a good hunting round as far as killability.
@scotteger6271

@@Rickkari7 you just have to do a lot of cold bore testing, which takes time and patience. Have to do it in similar conditions to your hunt as well. Let the bore fully cool, take several guns to the range (so you have something to do while you wait) and put like 5 or 10 of the 1” bullseye stickers on a piece of poster board and shoot one of them at a time until you get through 5 or 10 true cold bore shots. After I do this I move on to shooting 3 round groups in the same fashion. This gives me a very good overall look at how my rifle is going to perform in the field. I don’t usually even take a second shot in the field so it’s unlikely I’d ever shoot 3, but it shows me how the group is going to open up.

The Federal NonTypical White Tail did amazing, but there were several that did pretty good. Shouldn’t have to have a warm barrel to do well.

The tri-box view showing you shooting, the target, and the ammo is excellent. Please keep doing that
Just can't go wrong with a ruger. Great video been thinking about a 350 you made have just sealed the deal on me getting one
Thank you for making all these informative video's get to see this stuff and gives some of us to look forward to at the end of the day
I would have to say the Federal 180 grain was the winner there! 3 shots in the same hole is really impressive! The Bear creek stuff you will have to count all 8 shots of that! We do appreciate this video tho because I know it took some change and work to make it happen!

This is about to be a really fun video 👍👍
Nice! This gonna be exciting! You are an impressive shooter
I'm a big fan of the American whitetail and Winchester. Always had great luck with with both.
Took my 350 out last weekend, AR15 platform makes this a real shooter. After some research and Ron's input with OG's Danger Show, I pulled the trigger and bought the BCA 350 Legend Rear charge 20" Stainless Heavy. After sighting it in. THIS IS A BEAST!!! MOA with the Federal 180 gr. I'm impressed with this and found my new Hog Hunting Rifle!!! Just need one more thing, a Thermal Scope to complement it. Thanks for the info. The WIN 145 Target ammo is ok for plinking. Just not much else. Have not tried the rest of the ammo yet, but think I found my best combo. 50 yards same hole with ease. 100 yards it's amazing and can't wait to go hog hunting.
Nice video hoss , and no doubt expensive. I would love to see the 255 grain loads shot into ballistic gel....I wonder how they will perform going so slow...also would like to see the browning "rapid expansion" to see how it performs. Again thanks for the great video
Thank you for the content! A lot of people don’t like the 350 legend but us fellas from places like Ohio who want to take our kids hunting, this cartridge is amazing.

Being from Ohio, and having shot deer with a .350 legend, bullet selection needs to be a MAJOR CONCERN. The 170 grain bullets that i've shot deer with didn't expand very well, and left poor blood trails.

Great video Adam. The .350 seems like a great option for low recoil needs, as well as those limited by law for deer use. From what I have seen and heard, some of the .350 rounds don’t expand well. A ballistic gel test run with an assortment of ammo would REALLY be appreciated by those trying to judge which ammo would be most effective for hunting. A 1/2” difference in groups is meaningless if the boolots just zip right thru resulting in wounded and lost game. Thanks for your hard and non-biased work!
I am still waiting for the head to head of 350 legend and 35 Remington!!!
I certainly appreciate everyone and everything used in your videos. Thank All involved.

Love 350, and 22-250 just about equally. I got my last deer with my 350, so I'm looking forward to it this year -- I didn't even think about suppressed 350. I got one of those shusher cans on the way, seems real fun!
Federal non typical does great in just about everything I have. Great video as always
Counting down the days till muzzleloader opens here in TN. Decided I'd try to bag one with a bullet I made myself. Running a Noe 45 cal 400 gr cast 16:1 lead/tin hollow point over 80 gr of 777. Expands to the size of a silver dollar and printing right around an inch at 100 yards.

Impressive results!
The fact that you are consistently getting two through the same hole and a single flyer within an inch or so, across the board with multiple different ammo types tells me that this rifle could really benefit from a bedding job or being dropped into a chassis. That said, it's designed to be a cheap entry level deer rifle and the fact that is doing this well even with a cheap Tupperware stock is a testament to how far the manufacturing of rifles and ammunition has come in recent years.

No it's the top straight wall cartridge caliber you can buy RN lol not the best rifle
Love your videos I have two 350 Legends and I really like this caliber, we've killed 4 deer with it in 2 years using the Winchester 150 gr. XP this bullet expands rapidly and doesn't exit most of the time but seems to do a good job on deer, I'm going to switch over to the Winchester 160 gr Power Max Bonded round or the Barnes 170 gr. all copper bullet to hopefully get great expansion and an exit on deer size game. Thanks you for all the work that you do making these videos
I have a AR pistol in 350legend and it's one of my truck/home defense guns. I love this caliber. I keep it filled with Federal because they always have the best grouping.
Now I wouldn't mind a 350 Legend in a S&W . Hunting Whitetail with a rig like that just gets a feller into good dreams. Thanks for the great video. Who Tee Who 🎃👹👏
Hey Who-Tee! I'd like to see a .350 Legend, AR-15 vs. The Ruger - Bolt Action, grouping video. And then another round, with the suppressor on each. And finally, a round up comparison, of how well they all shot. Same ammo as this video, as a base line comparison.

Good job on getting that many different brands of ammo to test. For hunting I'd pass on the FMJ ones and would go with a cold barrel, thats what we have in the woods. One shot kills. Like I said good video.

@Mogul Rider I appreciate your reply. To be clear, did you recover the bullets from the game you shot, or are you basing your opinion on the damage noticed . I've shot many a deer with a 45-70 solid lead cast bullets and .50cal blackpowder rifles shooting conical lead maxiballs and the wounds are very substantial, but the bullets may barely expand at all.
have the same gun...and it loves the Winchester Super X...and the Browning BXR....but it also shoots the win and browning FMJ rounds just as good...but higher cause they are lighter weight. My son has taken several deer with my gun....i havent even used it hunting yet.

150 meters is 164 yards so the 350 should be OK. It's good up to 200 yards or 183 meters.
My Scout and XPR both shoot the Deer Season XPs very well and I have also been happy with the performance of that round on deer. IF you could get some Deer Season XP Copper Impact and do an accuracy and water jug test of the original XP vs the new copper XP, that would be interesting.
Would like to see what they do in ballistic gel, great video 👍
There is some of the super suppressed at scheels Here in iowa. I have been looking for 160gr federal fusion, but can't find any anywhere.
Hard to beat 3 in one!! I think you found your load.
Looking like there all minute of deer👍👍 good shooting!
Interesting video. I am a fan of the 35 caliber, having cut my teeth on the 35 Remington, and it’s still my favorite deer/pig/black bear cartridge today. I quickly learned that Sectional Density is important for hunting bullets. And that a SD of 200 is the accepted minimum for medium game such as whitetail deer, pig, and black bear. The 150 grain 35 Remington had the reputation of being a poor performer, something I learned the hard way. With the 200 grain bullet the 35 Remington became a one shot stop cartridge. A SD of 200 is considered the accepted minimum for deer sized game. It takes a 180 grains to equal that with a 35 caliber bullet. I would like to see penetration tests with the bullets you tested, specifically the 150 grain bullets as they are touted as the best hunting bullets for the 350 Legend. Just curious what makes the 150 grain bullets great for deer in the 350 Legend while the same weight bullet was not so great on deer in the 35 Remington? Enjoyed your video and subscribed!
Wonder how the new Winchester Copper Impact would do.? I agree with the clay and water jugs test.
Love it! 😀
Looks like a pretty good shooter
Top 3 shoot off!!! Cold bore, Chrono and ballistics gel. Those Federal Non typical was mighty tight. Price is a big factor nowadays.

@@WHOTEEWHO Yep. That's what most people's reaction is. Ron Spoomer actually knows about it. I think you would really like it. Remington was the only producer of the ammo. necked down 350 bushmaster to a .308 in an AR 15 platform. Remington/DPMS we're the only producer. Called it an AR 30. Factory 125 accutip ran 2800fps. I reload and get 2876 to 2903 depending on the area of the country. Remington 150 core lokt are deadly on hogs. Fluted 22"barrel I get .82"groups at 100 yards with my reloads and factory. Nice thing is it puts the 150 grain core lokts less than an inch to the left at 100 yards. Just lucky I think. They also produced 125,grain tsx called the hog hammer. My rifle hates them but it's Nicole brass which is good for reloading. Google it. Let me know if you want to review it. I don't live that far away.

I use the Winchester 180's. I get very good groups at 100 yds. It's crazy how the different ammo shoots at different points out of the same rifle. Hunters, don't use the FMJ's for hunting.
Outdoorlimited has the 350 Super Supressed for $24.99 per box plus shipping. I found a few cheaper but Outdoorlimited has a decent amount of reviews.
Based on cost and performance I would lean towards the Federal non typical 180. I wonder if I could buy the bullets used in the bear rounds for reloading
