During the course of this year I aim to upload a song every day for your consideration as to whether they were good enough and sufficiently commercial to have become UK Top 20 singles. Many different genres will be represented, so if this particular one’s not your preferred style then hopefully it won’t be too long before you find one that is.

Also, if leaving a critical comment please try to take into account the year of original release - most of the songs that I'll be uploading are decades old so it wouldn’t be surprising if some sound dated now.
Today’s choice is Home And Dry by Gerry Rafferty. When I was planning ahead at the start of this year for songs I wanted to highlight on this channel, I never imagined that such an obvious hit as this song was never even released as a single in the UK…..what on earth were United Artists thinking! It could have easily been the follow-up to Baker Street (no. 3 in the UK), and they did release “Home and Dry” in the USA & Canada where it reached the Top 30 in both territories, so why ignore the UK? It’s such a classic song with such an insane beat to move it along that it’s a headbanger’s delight. With great lyrics, a strong melody and a guitar solo to die for, it was absolutely perfect for radio airplay so what a wasted opportunity.
