Thank you! your video was the only video that showed me what those 2 notches were for. I am a seamstress I have about 100 pair of scissors! I just purchased these at a sale and noticed I did not have a pair of scissors with the 2 notches. So was excited to see why they were there. LOL To my surprise I find out the are for electrical use. But i am sure I will find a use for them. Maybe in my jewelry making! LOL thanks again.

Didn't know I had one of those laying around and didn't know how to use it until this video. I do know how to clean bare wires very cleanly and fast. Its with #0000 steel wool.

Snips are handy to have around the house! Ron

These snips look average which may be decent but I have used many snips, and most end up frustrating me, or giving me a wicked blood blister on my hand when cutting large cables at some point.... The Fluke D-snip is my absolute go to. They can easily cut a 25 pair in one cut (when held properly) with no fear of pinching your hand!... These were designed and made originally by Harris, which was a premier Telecom tool company, which sold out to Fluke who is also a premier Telecom tool co. The Fluke D-snips are the best! It's $25 well spent. You're welcome

Hi Ron, can you help me choose between this type of scissors and the those with the bigger hoop on one side ? Why would I choose one over the other ? What would you prefer ? Thanks!

+Marius Kaizerman Hey Marius I tend to prefer the standard type over to more ergonomic versions of the snips. It may be that is what I got used too and they are less money. Either way they will do the job. Good luck Ron

Thanks for the how-to, Ron! This is helpful as a 1st year electrician's apprentice. How would you recommend to sharpen these snips? Is it possible without a sharpening stone?

Sharpen the smooth blade not the serrated blade. I do not have a recommended way to sharpen them but a stone would be a good way to do it. Sorry I was not much help. Ron

If you've used your snips so long that they are dull you go buy another pair. 🙂 I'm on the same set of Fluke D-snips,(the best snips when held correctly imo) for 2+ years and I use them every day as an automation contractor. Still going strong..
