During the course of this year I aim to upload a song every day for your consideration as to whether they were good enough and sufficiently commercial to have become UK Top 20 singles. Many different genres will be represented, so if this particular one’s not your preferred style then hopefully it won’t be too long before you find one that is.

Also, if leaving a critical comment please try to take into account the year of original release - most of the songs that I'll be uploading are decades old so it wouldn’t be surprising if some sound dated now.
Today’s choice is The Closing Of The year by The Musical Cast Of Toys featuring Wendy & Lisa with additional vocals from Seal. Yes I know that this would have been appropriate for my New year’s Eve upload, but my festive period is already fully allocated, so you can have this one now just to get you in the mood!
First released in 1992 on the “Toys (Music From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)” album which was the creation of former Buggles Trevor Horn & Hans Zimmer, it was the closing theme of the film and particularly frustrating insofar as was too short to get full enjoyment from it. A longer version did exist, but even more annoyingly it was only available on promotional releases. At just under six minutes it fulfilled all my requirements, with the minor exception that it’s too long to be seriously considered as a potential single. So I’ve shortened it a bit by fading it out early, and hopefully you’ll agree it does the job. Wendy & Lisa were Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman who were members of Prince’s band, so it was quite the all-star line-up for this one!
