My theory may not be correct. Brett suggested that I force the tool further with force until it sets and then rotate clockwise. It did work on two out of three locks. But I thought it would break my pick. It took a lot of force I don’t think most pickers would want to apply to their tool.👍

Your welcome. Brett gave me a suggestion, see his comments, that worked. But it was still extremely hard to open the locks. I thought it would bend or brake the tool. I still think that American lock company has modified the cylinder to make it harder to use the tool. Thanks for watching.👍🦊

@@PocketWomen So sorry. Brett said his comments were not shown. He blames KZread. They appeared under Snakes comments then vanished. Basically he said I needed to press the tool down much harder and wiggle it until you feel it seat. Then turn hard clockwise. I thought my pick would bend or break before it opened. I am not sure if it is worth the risk.

@@jackfoxlock thanks mate, appreciate your reply. Yeah don't know if i want to risk bending or breaking my tool. I think it might come in handy as a thumb turn bypass tool but haven't explored that yeah, can't find my thumb turn locks, they will turn up I'm sure, just need to go through a lot of locks to find them

This is interesting, Jack. I’ve been wondering about this and was assuming my tool’s flag was too large due to manufacturing error. However I never wanted to shave down material on the bypass tool to test. Thanks for sharing your findings. I’m going to take a closer look at my 1100s now.

I thought the same about shaving the tip. But after trying all my 1100’s and got no opens, I knew something was up. My older 1100’s opened just fine, but not the new ones. Thanks for watching 👍🦊

@@jackfoxlock I also noticed that if the c-clip is installed upside down, it does a great job blocking the tool from entering properly.

Try pushing harder on the tool to push it in further Jack, the fact that it’s going in after opening & closing the shackle means it will go in far enough, just need more oomph to get it there.

It’s a good theory but I (respectfully) think you’re mistaken. If the dimensions of the cylinders are different then take an old one and measure/compare it with a new cylinder using a micrometer. That would give definitive proof of your theory. Many people have problems with the bypass tool but it is a matter of developing feel for the tool. It takes a significant amount of force when a lock is new because the seam between the lug on the cylinder and the cam of the shackle is very tight. There is a distinct ‘sinking in’ feeling when the tool slips between the cam and lug. One piece of evidence that the bypass tool still works is that it works fine when inserted with the shackle open…that places the flag between the cam and lug before the shackle is closed, circumventing the hardest part of the bypass technique (getting the tool inserted between the two). The seam between the cam and lug is the issue. Once locks have been bypassed there is damage in that area and subsequent bypasses are much easier. Also, once the internals are dirty the mating surfaces are less perfectly matched, making it easier.

Thank you for your detailed explanation on the tool and cylinder. I am sure you are correct. I was just proposing a theory on my experience with the tool and lock. I have since been able to open two 1100’s by pushing down hard in the back and turning hard clockwise. Thought I would break or bend the tool doing it. Thanks again for your explanation 🙏👍🦊

I bought some 1100 and they don't have the wafer to block the bypass tool. I wonder if I can buy some wafers to correct the weakness.

Google American 1100 lock wafer sources. Or lock up a locksmith supplier on the internet. 👍🦊
