34 - Something's New!
To make a long story short, I carry about 55 students for a hour and a half or more every day. I got extremely tired of trying to accelerate, pull a hill, turn onto the major highways, or even drive in town with this bus. It was struggling to move when empty, let alone with 55 heads on board. So we sent ol 34, and the other 4 Birds, to an Allison shop and had the fuel sense shifting turned off.
Prior to that, I was averaging 6.4 miles to a gallon. So the fuel economy wasn't even that great. Given that was full throttle, A/C on, and sometimes manually shifting the bus. After it was put into primary mode, or performance mode, everything got better. She now comes out of 1st at 2500-2700 RPMs and takes off like a mad woman. My fuel economy even went up! It now averages 8.2! Yeah.. kinda pointless to worry about the MPGs, but it funny how it made that huge of a difference.
Never the less, sit back and take a gander at this "new" ride.

Yeah man, I sure did! I personally drove her down there for that Drill Meet. She's my assigned bus for the system.
