@@NITTYSMITHnot really, the round is going so fast there’s a reason big game cartridges are heavy and slower to dump the kinetic energy. That’s why you don’t see guys using 338 on Cape buffalo and the like

Haven’t shot an elk with mine yet but I’ve got 2 antelope with it and it usually leaves a football size exit hole

I have one, but don't use it for hunting. With that said, it's too much round except for ranges out beyond 1000 yards.

He took around gaze to enjoy the view before he dropped.

How in the world did he take that to the heart without dropping immediately🤯 338 may as well be a damn 470 nitro, those suckers are huge

Things are tanks, got a buddy who needed 3 shots from 1,000 yards (might be the problem right there) to drop one on a hunt. He stepped up to 50 bmg the next year came in low, blew the front leg off one, and it made it out just as quick as if it still had all 4. Completely got away poor thing

I call BS. There ain’t no way in Jesus name he’s trying to shoot an elk at 1000 yards. That’s a waste of ammo. Most kills for hunting elk are within 200 yards unless you are literally Chris Kyle American sniper. Secondly, who in their right mind shoots an elk in the leg with 50 BMG and doesn’t finish the kill? That’s just plain cruel. I’ve never heard anyone do that.

@@ran97396 yeah shooting it’s leg was a stupid mistake and letting it get away as well. However 200 yards is not a far shot and 1,000 is very obtainable for a lot of shooters. Do I find it necessary to shoot at an elk that far? No. But you must have a misunderstanding about how far people can accurately shoot you don’t need to be Chris Kyle to shoot 1,000 yards

@NOT anonymous not with 50 BMG. Most people are using a smaller round like .308 win and .338 lapua mag. More uncommon are 6.5 creedmor and 30-06 but never 50 bmg.
