33 mile bike ride Mirfield to Slaithwaite via Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Beautiful day for a bike ride. My bone shaker city bike didn't like the terrain, the wide handlebars wouldn't go through certain areas.

Lovely ride that! Those width restrictors are a pain though aren't they - bad enough for normal bikes but mountain bikes... 🧐 It's always baffled my why people wear headphones while out walking or riding, and are oblivious to their surroundings. I thought you could get headphones now that allow you to hear what's going on around you, but it seems folk haven't got them. I do like those leather grips on your bike, they suit it well and I bet they're comfortable as long as any seams don't dig in. Hope you're all well up there in Doomsbury and looking forward to the weekend! Good stuff Julia! 👍

@@JuliaHoustonebikeTouring Afternoon Julia! 👍 33 miles was a fair old ride! I only get a sore -arse- backside on one of my bikes that has a leather saddle that hasn't broken in yet, and that was murder when it was brand new! Saddle soreness isn't nice though, but I'm lucky as I only wear normal clothes on my bikes, well, walking trousers anyway, and don't usually suffer. You could try changing the saddles of course, but how do you know the new one won't also give you issues? That's the big problem with buying bike saddles. Your bike has quite an upright sitting position so all your weight will be going through your bum so it's no surprise you got a bit uncomfortable! I'm good thanks, hope you are too - take care, have fun! 👍
