When I see a GDCS video I start questiong why this channel isn't verified, is so useful, and in this case, reveals things that people forgot that existed (like copying and pasting through levels, I think this is a 2.2 feature but I can be wrong) 3:27 Also, the reverse trigger is useful sometimes, since sometimes flipping an arrow trigger to make the same effect, it just don't do anything, instead, do that, BUT check "Change Channel" and then "Channel only", you put an unused channel and put a reverse trigger / orb / pad in that channel and you're ready. You should check the Press Start editor to see what I mean with this.

I actually didn't know you can set a keybind to move to a position, this is gonna be so useful when making XL levels. Also thank you for bringing up contrast. This has been especially a problem I noticed, when the new pixel blocks have been introduced. A lot of creators struggle with distinguishing obstacles, and it's one of the most important parts of gameplay, as it removes a lot of trial and error and unfair deaths. Great tips overall!

tip: be careful with build helper. Ecspecially with more complex logic, build helper doesn't properly work sometimes, do NOT build helper something many parent ids unless you know how to assign them back (i once had a case where someone in a megacollab broke my part by using build helper on my stuff). All types of ids count as one id, so make sure to use the same id on stuff like block ids, timer ids, effect ids etc. to save on groups. In some rare cases, like in the sequence trigger, build helper doesnt work at all. Its best to use remapping and use build helper on the remap. a lot safer and easier to use. tip 11 is a bit outdated but still valid. I would do this either through "direction mode" in the move trigger or use advanced follow + regular follow (spike advfollows point, point regularily folllws spike), depending on the case.

something that actually helped me improve a TON is stealing other peoples assets. NOW, BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING, LISTEN!!! I know stealing stuff is wrong but it helped me a ton to see how other people make their things and how i could use more complex assets in my own levels. SO... a great way to steal assets without actually stealing is maybe trying to make a level with stolen assets but not uploading it to GD for everyone to play and this it's all made by you. I would say you actually SHOULD steal assets as a beginner in the editor so you know how to make complex art/assets and know how to properly use them in a level with other assets! (recap - USE ASSETS IN UNLISTED/PRIVATE LEVELS BUT DON'T UPLOAD STOLEN STUFF CAUSE THAT IS CRINGE ASF!!! DON'T BE LIKE YOUNGER ME!!!!) Edit 1 : Just don't use the replies as a guide to steal things and publish it lmfao

1:16 I'd like to clarify what those checkboxes do exactly Short speaking, they switch from multiplication to addition Long speaking, when you adjust the saturation of an object with the corresponding slider, the saturation value will be multiplied by whatever number there will be inputted. Enabling the checkbox will now be adding or subtracting from the saturation value, which is why it can turn pitch black into white, and white - into red. If the color saturation is set to zero, setting the HSV value to 2.00 will increase it to 100% regardless

at 06:40 you can however layer your portals using Z Order instead, but separating them by small steps is better for readability. When stacking portals like this, it's best to experiment (change the scaling, layering, and positions of each portals) to find what works best for that transition. Personally I find it best to have game-mode portals be at the base/bottom, then gravity and/or size portals at the top of it. If I need both a gravity and size portal put on that transition, I find it best just to move them apart by small steps until they're both readable.

But watching these tips actually feel like good editing tips that should've been the video waboo made. I don't want to spread any major hate towards waboo, but he does need to learn from his mistakes. He did apologize on a community post and a livestream but I'm not sure if his video's are gonna remain rushed video's with pointless facts.

You really need to apply the tips as you watch the video otherwise you will forget it all. Kind of like how if you sit through an entire class without taking notes, not solving problems or not paying full attention you will forget what you took or feel like you learnt nothing. It's a gd creator school after all.

Emerald Realm primarily fails as a collab, especially on the managing front. I am still proud of my part in the level and it’s not bad as background footage either.

You dont need to change the protal z layer, make sure you put all the revese/mini portals or whatever and then put the gameplay portal abovd them.
