I think it highlights ,what a sham charities are in general , why is a billionaire ( Serena’s husband ) running a charity . If the money Harkles have allegedly paid was going to Pat Tillman charity that would at least make sense , but is clearly about directors taking humungous salaries and expense claims e.t.c. Maybe we should think about how rich people use charities to move / launder money around ,and fund their lifestyles .while we mortals just try to heat our homes and feed ourselves imo

Real Royals give awards, they don’t buy them.

ESPN is owned by Disney. Instead of giving your hard earned money to support disney or the foundation or Harry, I suggest you honor and help veterans in your own community. Paint their houses. Mow their lawn. Deliver their groceries to them. Fill their freezer with homemade food. Do little things to honor Pat Tillman

The military would naturally protect Harry as a member of the RF. I had always heard that they needed to keep him happy, as he would be insulting to allied troops, and beat the bejesus out of prostitutes. So they couldn't take him into town for R&R. I read these things many years ago. Are these things true? I don't know, but the controversy is there and taints his reputation. So, getting such an award would be not a good idea.

🎯!! I have NO doubt the deal for Harry going into 'active' duty was that he was a prime target and had to be protected. That's understandable, No one especially The Royal Family saw Harry making a mockery of the situation, 'lying by omission' about his achievements, revealing stories involving, at the time the future King, driving away, death counts, nor accepting 'un-earned' awards!!

🎯!! I have no doubt there was a deal made when Harry insisted he go on active duty, he would be protected and that is understandable. What I don't think the Royal Family could ever have thought would happen was the behaviour, lies by omission, disrespect to fellow soldiers, ignoring his job/duty to attend a special Military function in favour of his wife's choice once out of the military, and the stories of certain events concerning his time in the military written in the book, Spare. Harry was more concerned for himself, it would seem throughout the military process.

I think the RF thought the military would straighten his butt out, but nope, that didn't work. They were probably sad when his 10 years was up. The RF naturally wanted him protected of course but I bet the military leaders took it farther because they knew it would be their butts on the line if anything serioysly bad happened to him. Prince Philip, God Rest His Soul, once remarked that the public fascination and/or admiration was due to his position, and not him personally. He understood royalty, being born into a Royal House himself. I am certain that he tried his best to pass this on to his direct offspring and descendents. It’s beyond my comprehension that he seems to think heroes accept awards on behalf of … themselves! A real Veteran would not disrespect a Gold Star Mother’s wishes; would not stomp his foot and say, I am TOO a hero!; would not ignore all the others who did the work of founding Invictus, like the Royal Foundation and Ministry of Defense; would not lie about his achievements, like being a pilot when he’s not; would give credit to others; would genuinely believe that the team or corps deserves the praise; would understand a definition of heroism that does not make it all about Me, Mine, Myself. I think this is opening people’s eyes as to who Harry really is. I wish it would open his own eyes, but I think that may be a lost cause. My opinions.

Yep. And I think he’s so deluded that he doesn’t even grasp it. I think he really thought he was getting a shiny new trophy that would tell him how wonderful he is, and all of us around the world would then have to believe it, and see the wonderful ness he sees in himself. IMO.

Sometimes I think he’s so puffed up with his self-importance, his eyes can’t squeeze through to see reality!

Unfortunately, I think he is convinced that the public show of devotion and admiration was for him personally rather than the position he once held. His grandfather once very astutely made a similar remark, and it's a shame that his grandson has turned out to be such a controversial and divisive person. That said, I think it is crucial that we keep in mind that his entire public persona was crafted by a team of individuals serving the Crown. It was their job to keep his approval ratings high in the public perception. He no longer has such a diligent team to represent him. This should serve as a cautionary tale to be mindful of who you give accolades and energy to as they may not actually be worthy of it.

I wonder if it's arrogance or stupidity.

And with the Six of Pentacles as the outcome, it seems he will once again capitalise on a charity (Invictus), pretend to be a humanitarian, and engage in a convenient quid pro quo with Disney. I agree they are playing ignorant but are in fact using daily puff pieces (latest divorce rumours) to deflect and distract from the backlash; while Disney who clearly court controversy and have only contempt for their audience chooses to enter into a deal with harry yet another controversial, insidious and divisive character.

Other men, the REAL heroes, would go to this kind of events and tell everyone how humbled and undeserving they feel, that there are thousands like him out there, that he only did his job, what he needed to do, so he's no different from these other deserving men. Our NOT hero will go on the stage filled with entitlement, arrogance, contempt and make a few distasteful jokes, then, smiling, will accept the award like he really deserves it... Similarly, he's NOT a legend of aviation, but, after being very rude to the host, he did accepted that award and proudly took it home.... In my eyes, he's NO hero, never was, will never be. Though he, and his wife, are THE heroes in their minds. They fight every day for their freedom and a piece of bread on their table for their kids, poor souls.... These, of course, are only my feelings, thoughts and opinions, based on observations made in the last 5 years on their behaviour....

Harry will never measure up now as he has blown it in so many ways!

I've felt the same way. We're long past the poing where their history has been written in granite - nothing they say or do can undo that And the Royals have wisely given them no complaint, while utterly erasing them. Revenge is a dish best served cold. They are already a pathetic sidenote.

Cold and wet in Devon UK. Week of heavy winds and rain. Put my heating on few days ago.
