    I thought those Gerudo looked weird it never occured to me it was Twinrova. I have whole new huge theory about them now. I'm gonna say it's not just reference, it's the same Twinrova throughout the entire Zelda franchise they're just that freaking old. They served the original Demon King and believed in his reign and viewed it as Gerudo superiority and manifest destiny to take over Hyrule. After the first Ganondorf became a monster the reason we see so few men born to Gerudo despite the 100 year rule is because the boys that are born are rejected by Gerudo society, hidden by their mothers (or worse) to avoid the law they must be king to prevent another Ganondorf. In OoT's time, when that new Ganondorf is abandoned by his mother, Twinrova take him in and raise him to be the king of the Gerudo to recreate a new Demon King and make history repeat, fulfilling the original Ganondorf's vision and ambition.

    also if they are the same Twinrova. that places TOTK's past roughly 300 to 400 years before OoT. since when they die in OoT they mention they are about 400 years old in that game. which is kinda supported in the cutscene wehre zelda first lands in the past. you can briefly see Death mountain, and it looks closer to how it did in OoT with the ring of smoke.

    I think the reason that Link stubs his toe with the Mystic and Charged sets, but not with the Zonaite and Archaic sets is because there's no sole of the shoe to stop the kick one of the weirdest armour design choices in the Mystic set is that the soles of the Mystic trousers' samurai shoes stop weirdly far back, so Link's toes kinda hang over the edge, much further than the other sets. I wonder if it's supposed to show that they don't properly fit him or something maybe?

    I remember seeing that lizalfos switching thing myself. COnfused the heck out of me because I was going after a fire lizalfos, but he was ice when I got there. Watching the saved replay was really cool and blew my mind, because the fire and ice lizalfos were standing practically on top of each other, and the fire one went into the ground as I approached.

    Okay. The Kotake and Koume detail had me saying “noooo waaaaay” with a smile. Nintendo hit yet another home run with this one. The real world/game world map detail is also cool, as is realizing that shrine and light root names are the same but spelled backwards. Love these videos.

    I knew about the shrines and light roots being backwards of each other, but it's really neat that they're based on RL locations in Kyoto but anagram'd! That map is really interesting and cool to see. It explains why so many of the shrine names in English end in "k", because the English version chops off the last syllable for some reason (ie "ka", "ku", "ki" all become just "k"). Now I'm a little curious about the shrine and light root names in other languages... I'm guessing in Japanese the light roots have the kana of the shrines reversed, but what about like Chinese, or Korean, or Russian, for example?

  • @Chubby_Bub

    @Chubby_Bub

    10 ай бұрын

    Every language just reverses whatever characters are in the name of the shrine, and it's clear they created the shrine names based on Japanese and went from there. While English remained pretty faithful aside from excluding some ending vowels, others like Spanish and French did the same thing as the monks in BotW where they spell them in weird ways, e.g. in French Kyononis (JP Kyononishiu) is "Sanctuaire Qyono Nisiü". French also consistently keeps the diaeresis on the second vowel, so the lightroot is "Racine Uïsin Onoyq". So yeah, since Japanese uses kana it's a bit different than in other languages (well, similar situation for hanzi and hangul). The only differences I noticed are that Japanese excludes syllabic n ン if it's at the end of a shrine (and thus would be at the beginning of a lightroot), and a couple errors: Dutch has an error where Jiosin Shrine has Oinisoij as its lightroot since they accidentally reversed a transcription of the entire Japanese name, Jioshinio. French accidentally reversed the entire name of Morok Shrine, "Sanctuaire Mo Lonqu", into "Racine Uqnol Omeriautcnas" (including "sanctuaire" which means shrine). It’s a bit funny.
