The 30 caliber is it for me! The local Sportsman's Warehouse had one type of 6.5 CM reasonably priced at $29.99 140 grains-Aguila FMJ the other loads were hunting ammunition; it was the same for 308W hunting loads, no target stuff. Wasilla, Alaska.

@@Mr_Zimm but its boring and super old. The 308 is 95% of the capability of it.

@@sortoftactical Yes, it is super old but able to do what the 308W will do but better. I have both cartridges more in 30-06 (8 rifles) than 308W (3). I am a BIG fan of the 7.62x51 - M14 service rifle...US Army trained.

308 is better 500 yards and in for HuntinG. in the military 762 x 51 is used to stop vehicles also. 6.5 Creedmoor is unproven for that.

308 and 45acp are good old cartridges bro. There may be fancy-pants new, more "efficient" stuff. a wagon wheel still does the same job as an nascar racing wheel and a trip to the library yields the same info as a Google search. Resistance is futile. Assimilation is inevitable.

7mm-08. Love it. Problem is most barrels don’t have the twist to handle the heavier projectiles. I would think a 1:8 twist would improve the accuracy of the 150-162gr projectiles. I own a 7mm-08 w 20” barrel. 120-140gr bullets shoot very well in consideration of accuracy/ repeatability. 150-162gr projectiles have turned in groups no better than 2 inches. While that may be acceptable for some folks I prefer shooting a 120gr barnes ttsx which gives me under 1” groups. I enjoy your channel very much. Thank you for making these videos!!

Target shooting energy isn't important, when hunting and such energy is very important and it's not about showing off and measuring d##ks. With that as a hunter the creedmore is far better than 308 out at distance. The long bc bullets carry the ENERGY out further. Again as a hunter energy is everything.

I hear you. BUT, how do you quantify it? There are videos of polar bears being killed with .223. You can even hunt elk in Idaho with a 223 and a lot of people do. They kill just as good, and in some cases better than magnums I have seen. In combat I personally witnessed a guy hit with a 50 cal. He fought until blood loss ended him. Energy didnt matter at all. For me, and in my experience, yes it is better to have and not need but I fail to see the overwhelming evidence that it is in fact the killing mechanism. Thank you for your comment and for watching. This is the dialogue I wish we could all engage in.

@@sortoftactical 👍👍 You do have a few really great videos and very informative. Kinda new to your channel and definitely plan to check out the rest of your videos. As to the energy thing, some states won't allow any 22 cal hunting with deer and few won't even allow bottleneck cartridges hence why 350legend was developed. And as for me I use 6.5creed for deer size and I have a 6.5prc for elk or bear. I've also read reports that snipers have taken Insurgents at 1000 yards with a 308winchester (thank you Carlos greatest shooter the world ever seen). Amazing when max effective range of 308 is around 700 yards. Shot placement is everything when hunting or whatever. Ethics tells us that we should take every shot that we are sure there is as little suffering as possible. With all this "EVERY BIT" of knowledge we learned from every aspect and given that you make a honest and ethical decision to choose a caliber that fits your goal. YOUR ability with this knowledge size of animal environment local laws everything, not just energy. And I do believe there is a certain amount of energy required to ethically take each game. Energy drops as the bullet travels. I like how the 6.5 cal bullets performs, the bc's of the long sleek bullets you keep that velocity up and that energy.... You get how all this works. Hopefully you can understand why energy is important just as much as velocity. Again setting is starting point, if all the bullet has to do is go through paper, then energy is irrelevant but if it's a Kodiak bear I want something with more energy than a creedmore or even a 308. Go check out the amount of energy required to penetrate the skull of a bear. In hunting I like a high shoulder shot, it's like there plug in. It shuts everything down instantly and deer drop like rocks. Problem is there is a hard bone in the way so you need something with enough energy to bust through. I don't see that with a 223, if it does it's a gamble the bullet hits it's mark. The extra energy of 6.5 blows through. Greentip 223 will would get through but that crap probably wouldn't even hit the deer. Anyway that's my ramble. Great talking to you dude. Keep up the great work.
