300G African Cichlid Tank Overview!

#Cichlid Tank #Cichlids #Aquarium
An updated video of the 300G African Cichlid tank. I made this video in response to all the questions I receive about the setup and various equipment I have on this tank. There have been a few big changes that are premiered in this video, such as the Roller Filter setup, marine pure addition, and sump mods.

    I have yet to decide if the fish, the custom background, or that “fantabulous” sump is the main attraction. Good Lord, you've certainly sewed a LOT of love into that bad boy. I'll have to watch this entire upload multiple times to take in all the highlights. You, sir, are an artist... precisely the kind I'm always inspired by🙏🏾.

    My favourite tank and set up on youtube. What is your water temperature and doesn't your constant drip going to cool the water. Also you mention in a previous video comment that you feed 2 tablespoons per day. Would you mind measuring that in grams? Thanks so much for this update and overview. inspirational setup! Do you think you could get away with no water changes if you didn't have the auto top off water? or what about if you didn't have the aquaponics? I'm wondering which of the 2 is more effective at keeping the nitrates down, aquaponics or autowater topoff

  • @Jetblink619

    @Jetblink619

    Жыл бұрын

    I like to have both. My pothos are growing rapidly which leads me to believe they are yelling their fair share of nitrates out. The constant drip system (auto water change) is vital in my opinion. The pothos would never be able to keep up with the amount that I have, so it’s a symbiotic relationship.

    What is the biggest factor to get such crystal clear water, mine is a bit hazy but i have 36w UV sterilizer and i suspect my return pump isnt flowing enough for my 300 gallon tank, would you guess it could be due to too slow turnover of the water?

  • @Jetblink619

    @Jetblink619

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hazy water can be caused by a handful of things. If it is hazy….like cloudy looking and not particles floating around, could bean issue with not enough beneficial bacteria, often seen on newer set up tanks. Can be caused by insufficient biological filter media, or too many water changes. I wouldn’t worry about flow too much, I believe quality filtration is better than quantity (flow). As long as your tank is turning over around 3 times an hours it’s fine.

  • @Jetblink619

    @Jetblink619

    3 жыл бұрын

    It is not RO water, the system does not have a reverse osmosis membrane on it therefore it is not stripping minerals. It simply has one sediment filter and two different micron carbon blocks. Correct, no water changes in a year now and perfect water parameters. 👍

  • @Jetblink619

    @Jetblink619

    3 жыл бұрын

    We have a whole house automatic Gas generator that kicks on if we lose power so power loss is never a concern. Water would simply drain via the the constant drip drain and never overflow the sump. On top of that, the check valve on the return immediately stops water from the return pipes, and the drain pipes have a quick symphony break if I were to turn the main pump off manually. I built this system with a minimum of triple redundancy on all areas
