I read the book several times, as well as the other 3 Odysseys. What can I say, a wonderful work by a sci-fi master.

I've wanted to see this and 2061 adapted into live action for years. Even if we can't get an actual theatrical film you'd think one of the streaming services would take up the task. The saga is only half complete

The SyFy channel announced they were going to do 3001 many years ago, then it disappeared, unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately. The SyFy channel does not have a good record at adapting sci-fi novels. Just loom at their 2 horrid attempts at Riverworld. The best one they did, even with its many flaws, was Childhood's End.
Stunning!

These renderings are AWESOME! man I want them to make this movie so badly. I heard a while back that Tom Hanks has been pushing for it for years but I guess producers are nervous to revisit the franchise.

Thanks! I had no idea about what you say about Tom Hanks... and yes, maybe producers look on another projects rather on investing in this franchise, who knows. I'll have to show them this video to cheer them up. 😜

Gorgeous work! I’ve always been surprised that no attempt has been made to film the other two novels. A+ could do it as a miniseries or something.

Fantástico como siempre!!
2060: Odyssey Three also hasn't been adapted to film yet. There are only two directors out there who could do it justice: Denis Villeneuve (Dune & Blade Runner 2049) and Christopher Nolan (Interstellar). I think Villeneuve is already planning to film Rendez-Vous With Rama.

At 1:26 it shows the red spot of Jupiter... Didn't Jupiter become a star a thousand years earlier?
@gonzalogolpe

Yes, I did a personal artistic license. Going from the book to a hypothetical movie, I imagined that, at a given moment, some protagonist of this story would have some kind of flashback, or perhaps some strange plot twist that would justify the appearance of Jupiter before becoming the new sun. :)
Not just visualising the scenes but absoutelt gorgeous art! Amazing!

Well done, I was afraid this was one of those “what if…” clip shows with A.I. art, but thankfully it wasn’t. 😮💨 You’ve read the book, I thought I was amongst the few that had. You’ve rendered key moments very well and it’s evident here. I hold on to the possibility that either the book gets a proper television or animated adaptation, I don’t think there are any directors keen enough for detail to respect the source material.
This is amazing, my friend ❤️

With respect, I thought 2061 was a waste of ink. However, 3001 was absolutely fantastic!!
Arthur C. Clarke is but one of the three icons of Science Fiction Grand Masters. The others being Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein. I am pretty sure that I have read all their works and used to own them...

Good job. That's pretty much exactly how I imagined it when I read the book. I wish someone would really make a 3001: Final Odyssey movie. Even if it will just be a fanfilm heavily reliant on CGI.

At 0:46 : I believe that the orbital ring structure was supposed to be at a geosynchronous orbit. That would be at 22000 miles above the surface, not the 1000 miles shown in this image.

Excellent artistic interpretation of the narrative; do you have a conception of the monolith makers themselves?
@gonzalogolpe
Жыл бұрын
Thanks, and no I haven't. Maybe it's better not to show them. It reminds me of the tests that had been done to show them in "2001" film, and the results were not very good, so the story won by doing without them by adding more mystery and allowing each person to guess what they would be like, as if they were a kind of gods. It's like the movie "Contact". If you didn't see it, this is a spoiler: for me it's a perfect solution to show the alien in the image and likeness of us instead of putting the typical alien creature. "Small moves" :) Going back to "3001", I would continue with the line of "2001" and not show them.

@@gonzalogolpe Agreed the Monolith Makers might be so far beyond us they might not be perceptible to us and our ordinary senses hence they weren't shown because they couldn't be shown.

Good work. But I found the final book of the series severely lacking. It seemed rushed, like Clarke was just trying to meet contract obligations...which it turns out he was. The final "reveal" of the monoliths and the intelligences behind it just seemed like a lazy copout to a problem that he could have treated much better. I was very disappointed with it.

Got anything "original?" Asking for a friend.
meaningful and meaningless. what's the point - the alien knows it!
The idea of bringing back to life the corpse of Frank Poole even if it was frozen & whose brain would have died from oxygen starvation is a bit too far-fetched for my liking. One thousand years of constant radiation bombardment from the sun & from cosmic rays would have irreversibly altered his DNA. Apart from that, I enjoyed the book, especially the treatment of people "suffering from the psychotic delusion of religion".
3001 was crap same with 2010, 2001 is the only good 1
