It's an fun gun to shoot. It was my first long range gun. I have since bought a 6.5 Creedmoor and 338 Lapua Magnum. I really don't shoot my 300 win mag anymore because the 6.5 is less recoil with similar ballistics on steel targets and the 338 is just a more capable round in general.

I like my weatherby vanguard in .300 win mag quite a bit, make sure your scope is good quality as well as the scope rings and make sure the mount job is good because if not you'll end up with a canted scope from the recoil lol. I like 180 grain projectiles the best in it but that's me, if you decide to get into it see what works best for your barrel

This is fantastic, I just got myself a Bergara b-14 ridge in 300WM, this is all great stuff! So much useful information for my own journey down the rabbit hole of reloading 300wm. I'm reloading 180gn nosler Accubonds with 79 gr of ADI 2217, which is the ADI equivalent of H1000, after much of your advice and tips, I've successfully not blown my face off. I love your channel! keep the 300WM videos coming!

I've heard a lot of people saying a lot of different things as far as belted magnums and the bulge around the belt. I'd love to see a long term review of two different lots of brass one using the Larry Willis collet die and the other using standard full length sizing dies and see what the results are. Thanks for all the awesome videos and the info you provide.

My reload recipe is what really works in my riflr. Winchester modle 70 classic s/s with a boss.(first one in Canada ) 24 inch barrel, +boss 73 grains 7828 powder Win./ fed brass Win. Mag primer 200 grain seirra game king Average 2960 fps ( 10 shot average ) Full lenth resized and trimmed every time. Some cases reloaded more than 6/7 times. Hunting in the East Kootanys Canada.from the bottom lands to top of the Rockies. It works.

Great video with lots of detail!! I use a lee collet neck die which takes out all the guess work out of neck tension and sets it at a perfect 0.002" tension no matter what. I just bump the shoulder a little with a full length die first. I have never had to bother with the special belted magnum die, but mainly think that is because after a half dozen firings the primer pocket goes before i have that issue. I do believe that just moving the shoulder back a little and cheating by "head-spacing off the shoulder" also reduces the issue. Someone chime in and correct me if i'm wrong. But i've maybe had 3 cases that failed to chamber after loading and shooting about 1000 rounds of 300 win mag in two different rifles. Again for me after 5-6 firings on Remington brass it gets tossed because the primer pockets are loose. I don't push the limits but i do load a 300 win to the potential it was designed for. Cheers!

Loved it! Perfect example of matching the angle of the throat to the angle of the bullet ogive. Having those perfectly parallel makes for the best accuracy. That and jump seem to make magic. Spinning the completed round with a drill and polishing with four "O" steel wool will eliminate any burrs and remove any gunk from the surface of the projectile.

Thank you for the info Johnny. This video gave me a lot of educational info. Really interesting. It proves how much factory ammo is not going to cut it if you want really close groups. The further out you the worse the groups can get. It looks like the Sierra Match King stuff really holds well. I know Hornady stuff works well too. However some guns plainly don’t care for some ammo. Keep up the videos please. Really instructional.

I recently purchased a Tikka T3X Super-lite 300 Win Mag and I just love shooting it at the range but purchased it for Elk and Moose hunting and with Hornady Precision 200 grain ELDX ammo I am able to produce sub 1 inch moa @ 100 yards. I pal of mine (former Military!) Has let me shoot his .300 Win. It surprised me because it felt so similar to my .30-06 ! He said these are tailored hand loads! The 150 gr. Hornady bullets at 2900 fps. MV. This fellow likes to do the "soft" loads for our local "Medium Game". Deer, Pronghorn and little Blackies. But then, goes up for power and accuracy for Elk. And on occasion Moose in Alaska. That seems like a very versatile way to use your big, belted magnum!

I just started to run bergers in my 300 Win. I might be a little barbaric, but I run a long bullet then back it off till the bolt just closes. then I take a mesurment. then back it off .015 to .020" off the lands. Then, reduce the powder 3gr and work back up. ( first time I had a sticky bolt when I forgot to reduce the load,) I run a berger 210 vld match. But it took a little work. Congratz on your hand loads, I think your on the right track. For benchresting, remove the front slingswivel, it will throw a bullet when the recoil hits it. Again, great groups !

I just plunked down some serious money on a custom 300 win mag for long range hunting and shooting. I am very thankful you produced this for public consumption. I'm also thankful that I went the custom route, since you have demonstrated in this video how to put lipstick on a pig (no offense but that TC chambering is pretty awful). Maybe look into replacing the bottom metal to accept an extended magazine? The groups were clearly better when closer to jam. With the state of the Union hanging, we are all being pushed (not so gently) into reloading, and I have saved this video for future reference. I'll just hope the components become more readily available soon. Great video, thanks.

I'll save you the trouble.... 70.0gr of IMR4350 in hornady brass with Fed 210 primers pushing a 175 SMK at 3130 out of a 26" barrel. Best I've found. Side note. From everything I have read and found the 300wm gets better accuracy without magnum primers
