300+ MPH Photography: Covering the NHRA Finals!
Drag racing may seem simple enough on the outside - but the deeper you dive, the more you find out about the complete madness of this form of motorsport. 11,000 horsepower in a vehicle that weighs less than your daily driver?? Wild.

Would be awesome but the yards not big enough sadly, these cars can sit still or even creep while smoking the tires.
Putting the idle sound (?) as background for the stills is genius, love it

Finally Machine Gun Larry has found an Engine that rivals the output from his DSLRs! pew pew pew Keep holding the trigger Larry :) Greetings from Germany
The helmet and face mask photos are my personal favorites, it brings a really cool realism to the photos. Also that piece with Courtney Force in the pits running the car was really rad!

Those shots of Leah's eyes with her helmet on has Larry's looking straight on her in the car are amazing pictures. Leah has stunning eyes I mean talk about beautiful

I thought "celtic warrior".. insanely beautiful.
These videos are stunning. The audio overlayed with the pictures with limited voiceover is an amazing photo journalistic technique.
I never seen a photographer that can capture a moment like larry can. Like, there's a difference between a good photo and a moment in a frame. With Larry, I have to pause and look at the photo to truly take it all in and experience the picture. I don't know any other photographer that has ever done that. Truly incredible work he does

Practice makes perfect
I respect larry chen more than anything ecause he can make his photos look amazing with barely any post editing and that alone shows his skills, what I expect from this cannel though is a bit of a tech tip maybe? Or just walk us through what he does after the video like 2-3 minutes after he's done explaining why he did what
You are everywhere Larry 😂 when I grow up I want to be like Larry 😂

One of my favorite industry photogs...his tones and perspectives are fabulous.
I love the chill nature of this episode, barring 12000 horsepowers blasting around.
As someone who has done quite a bit of motor racing photography from grass karts to jet dragsters, your work is exceptional! Not just in portraying the cars and the excitement, but the people and their emotions as well. Congrats to you! :)
That shot where leah is looking straight trough the lens is so cool
The sound coming out of those motors .... it doesn't transfer over the video, Go see them Live, you can thank me later. Larry doin' the Racers proud by shooting some awesome in action shots , Great photos of racers set for battle.

Another amazing episode. Keep em coming Larry!
Amazing shots in this Video!!!. Thanks for sharing!
Larry chen and danger Dan! The Hoonigods bless us again!!💯🍆🐎🙌🙌🐎🍆💯
Probably some of the best shot's from the episodes yet, just jaw to the floor stuff! :)
Still waiting for the editing tutorial or preset pack
The photos at the line are awesome. Drag racing is one of those sports that looks way cooler at 1/8000
Impossible to pick a favorite shot but I really like the green flames and the shot with smoke coming out of two of the four header pipes! As always thank you Larry
Well done! One of the best features I've ever seen.

This video and your photos are spectacular and thanks for creating this video. I shot. Y first race last weekend and I'm hooked.
Great pictures and production.
Larry you have done it again, shooting some fantastic shots ! Very nice work bro !
Love it!! I was just at the Finals in Topeka today
love the feel of this video and the photos. hope you do more and different kinds of drag racing events in the future.
That was awsome thx
Keep up with your excellent work mate.😀
the dark shots and staying fast.. great work.
This is a great video. I've done every form of motorsport except NHRA until this weekend where I'll shoot the US Nationals. This video gives a great perspective and a few ideas of moving around, plus what Lenses I need to keep in the bag this weekend.
Great stuff! I would love to experience this too!
Bro, these shots are super sick!!!
Best auto focus yet
Amazing footage. Can't wait til I go to Vegas #2 in October. Video does not do any of the fuel cars justice. They literally vibrate your soul.
Semi controlled chaos. Love it.

cool to see it from your view. this was my 3rd year shooting NHRA.
With that shot of John I just realized that I've been watching John Force for so damn long that I remember when his hair wasn't so damn white. LOL Also, the shots of just them staring straight on are stunning. They know which direction they want to go, to the win.
0:51 is such a great shot
Dammot Larry please for the love of all things Holy, offer that sunset Silhouette picture as a HQ print. Reminds me of the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima.
You take awesome pictures bro
Every shot Larry takes is easily magazine cover worthy
Good ones.
Autofocus is peak hoonigan
nice one
Rad bro
Fantastic pictures and very well done video. I had ringside seats for an NHRA National event once and this conveyed what I saw and felt beautifully. An answer to Larry's question - how do you dyno a top fueler? They use a torque sensor at the diff for in race HP.
Dammit larry. Why are you so dam good at your job?
Wow. Wow never thought feelings could be put in frames.
IM IN FUCKING LOVE. drag racing is the best!
THIS!!!
i gotta love the ice ice Baby Pic!! @0:54
damn this guys is good 📸
Mad
When the ground shakes from the cars does it mess with the photo?
So gorgeous
Danger Dan has never been to an NHRA event???? A little piece of me just died inside. Glad you got your cherry popped dude!
I can only imagine how tough it is to get pan shots of a car going 300 mph in a few seconds

Great video. I was there Sunday. Any plans to talk through why you choose specific gear for specific events?
Sik! Vid!
0:52 i love it
2:23 The look of determination. Brittany Force.
You don't just drive these things, you aim them!
What is the best way to shoot NHRA from the stands or along the fence? This will be our 3rd year in a row going to Ennis ,TX and I'd like to get better photos.
HIP HIP!
This seems extremely intimidating
@LarryChenPhoto

Nitro in the air burning your eyes, 11,000 angry ponies trying to annihilate your ear drums, and miles per hour usually reserved for large open salt flats... definitely a bit intimidating.
How does one go about getting vetted to gain access to the area at the starting line, and just beyond? I probably won't make to any races until next spring, but plan on bringing a 24-70mm, 70-200, 18-400, and a 150-600. We're you shooting aperture, or shutter priority, or a mix of both depending on the situation? Great photos.

Hey Larry, saw you at FD, New Jersey yesterday, but didn’t get to say hi.
Amazing video as always 0:08 who the hell is "Michigan Larry "
I've only come up with one way to explain what it's like to experience a top fuel dragster launching. It's the closest thing to experiencing a bomb going off in front of you, without actually blowing up.
i cant be the only one driven insane by hearing the shutter every pic

What happened to the video of that red offroad buggy thing they featured?
@0:52 that is a very sexy pic 👍 🔧🛠️🚘 Vroom! Vroom!
Could u get `a day in leah Leah Pritchett´s day" thats some scary stuff there. the editing is great to.
You guys should cover a Formula One Grand Prix!
00:52 Those eyes could kill a man with one glare. Holy.
NHRA girls are BEAUUUUUTIFUL
Leah Pritchett...yes please
I'm a beginner photographer. How can I get a media pass for these events ?

Tony schumacher is still racing? He wasnt at the NHRA finals in sonoma.

Big Prop! Young One!! So good on you to keep the sport alive for us fans!! b(‘ _
It pretty sad how empty the bleachers are...
This is from 2017 -2018 season because Courtney Force doesn’t race anymore so why did they upload it so late and one other way you can tell that is from last year is that Brittany force doesn’t have her monster energy sponsor anymore because now she haves Advanced Auto parts and one more way is that tony schulmacre does not race anymore he is the army dragster
Cant they dyno the motor? Before putting it in the car
0:52....those eyes
When "they" say 11 000 hp thats a calculated estimate. They can't put them on the dyno. So it can be more and it can be less. Theres so many factors in how fast they go, it's not just the horsepower it's the humidity in the air, the air temperature, the track and the drivers reaction time.

Actually an extensive breakdown of Physics and a Torque Sensor on. Output Shaft. Both resulted in 11,000+ and about 7,500+ pound feet. Science!
