    Thank you! I really think with the expandable compartment, you don’t have to miss out on the benefit of the tub-style bags anymore. Nothing against GL at all, but it’s hard to want to go back to anything else after having the mosko stuff! Either way, best of luck in finding a bag that works best for you!

    Very thorough and informative review! For anyone considering a mosko tank bag, I will say they have the best quality i have experienced whilst playing with different brands of tank bags on a variety of different bikes. They also have a size and model to fit several different riding/motorcycle styles, even dual sports!

    They’re so organized that it’s easy to end up carrying way more than you realize. The V2 is awesome, and I wouldn’t have even considered upgrading if they didn’t put the expansion zipper on it. After getting it, I can see it’s a worthwhile upgrade, but I also could have been fine with a V2 for years to come.

    I’m a Mosko fanboy, and I had the V2. I sold it though, because it felt like it was overdesigned. Too many layers, zippers, pockets, etc. made for a lot of fiddling with things when used regularly. I ended up going back to my Hood tank bag. I want to love the bag because it does so many things, but I think the problem might be is that it does so many things.

    You definitely have to get into a kind of rhythm when you use it, and it’s easy to overpack it. I keep all of the stuff I *might* need in the pocket with all of the organizers. It’s a good spot for things like chargers and things you might carry just in case. And then the main pocket is usually open for carrying larger items or stuff I might need to access often. It can be a pain, but when on longer trips (especially camping), it’s nice to know I have everything I need and also to know where it is without having to dig around a whole bunch.

    They are the best quality kit in the world. I have a Nomax tank bag. They are really, really thought out. It can't be secured to the bike so you cant leave it unattended. Then again, those that can will just be ripped off by a thief. It comes into its own for 'proper' adventure riders who ride in sparsley populated areas, where you dont hsve to keep taking it off and putting it on again. It also has a bladder pack with is great.

    Yeah, it’s a little freaky to think about all the stuff someone could get away with when you have a bag like that on the bike. That is one really nice thing about mosko though; they make it convenient to carry their bags off of the bike by making their bags convertible to backpacks/hip packs. You still have to deal with securing the bag again when you get back to the bike though.

    Thank you for detailed review! Looking for a tank bag for my camera. Imho the most secure position of the camera is in the middle on a tank, between wheels, less vibration and shaking. I noticed you put a Sony alpha series inside with lens unmounted. 1) Do you think your camera could fit inside with "capacity increase zipper" opened with 24-70mm lens installed? 2) And also I see it is already big even on AT, I have CRF300L but I think I will go that big tank bag route, I haven't found small tanks bags for camera keeping purposes. P.S. I like how Tusk Olympus fits on a tank, but it is made of a very thin fabric material, needs to be modified with some foam rubber and armoring with polycarbonate, Mosko Moto Nomax V3 looks, and priced mush more solidly)).

  • @PastthePavementwBrady

    @PastthePavementwBrady

    7 ай бұрын

    I agree! Less vibration, especially since the tank is usually mounted on rubber to some extent. And it’s the part on the bike with the least directional change when you go over bumps. 1. You definitely could fit a Sony Alpha series with a standard zoom lens the way you’re talking. I have done it with my Tamron 28-75, but there isn’t much room left when you do. If you were to expand the bag, it would be no problem at all. 2. I put it on my 250L at one point when I was considering non-camera options for a long trip. It fit, but it definitely feels like it takes up more space on that bike than it does on the Africa Twin. I ended up going a different route for that trip, but my buddy was in a pinch and needed something to carry water on that same trip, and he ended up rocking it on his KLX300 for about 750 miles. It didn’t seem to bug him even though we were doing a lot of off-road miles. Do note that I added some foam backing to mine to help protect the camera. Btw, I was using an A7-series in that bag. I now have a 6700 that I got almost exclusively to pack on the bike, and it fits in the bag even better. Anything bigger than the A7-series cameras, and you’d definitely have to expand the bag and get creative with how you pack it.

    It’s the Nelson Rigg Trails End Adventure tail bag. They have 3 sizes, and this one is the Adventure size. It’s been great, but after lots of dusty riding has led to the zippers malfunctioning a bit. Lots of miles on it before that happened though.

    Doesn’t the bag scratch tank when bike is dusty or dirty?

  • @PastthePavementwBrady

    @PastthePavementwBrady

    8 ай бұрын

    I haven’t experienced that on these bags, and I’ve put probably 5000 on them, most of those miles being in dusty dirty conditions. The bag stays put for the most part when riding, so it doesn’t move around enough or allow much dirt to get underneath it that it causes issues. I have noticed, however, that the straps that go to the frame in the back are scuffing up the finish on the tank a little. My bike has about 25000 miles on it not, so I’ve just come to accept that it’s not going to look perfect if I use it how I like to use it, but if I had the little grippy pads that go on the side of the tank, the finish scuffing wouldn’t be an issue at all, even with the straps.

    That’s an interesting observation, and I understand what you’re saying. I think the best fitting bag for the AT is the OEM Honda bag, but because it focuses so much on matching the exact shape, it compromises a lot on space. Regardless, fitment was definitely a concern of mine when ordering this bag, and from a practical standpoint, it seems to fit on the bike just fine. They do sell a map pocket that attaches to the top, but I have never found myself in need of a paper map, so I haven’t got it.

    To each their own! While it doesn’t really scratch up my paint or anything anyway, scratches from a bag are definitely not the worst thing I ask my bike to hold up to, so it’s not that big of a deal to me. The straps have started to scuff the finish on the tank, but I could have easily avoided that by having tank pads that most people put on their bikes anyway.

    No not worth $ 550 here in Australia…. Yes looking at the bag it was perfect for what I’m looking for, but yeah no. $550 is criminal. For a bag design that’s been around for the last 10 years that they just put tank straps on to make it worse it’s not even waterproof/ weather proof. Even looking at using that $310 with exchange rate. It’s about $440 aus.

The Tusq $75 one holds your crap just fine, and puts crap ton more miles in your tank, beers in your belly, and a v-day gift for your gf,,,, yeah, that's coming right up. I bought a mm tank bag for the fit, and promptly returned it. It wasn't the size stated, way overengineered for a "bag", and so many pockets no way I could remember which one I put shit in. It’s a good way to move stuff from a pannier rack or tail rack closer to the front of the bike. Sure, weighting the top of the bike is not ideal, but I prefer adding weight there than putting even more weight out back over the back tire. This keeps the weight of your daily carry and water between the axles.

    If it’s any consolation, I had the V2, and it didn’t fit as well on my Africa twin as the V3 does. At the end of my video, I discussed some of the differences between the versions, and I think they changed the harness location on the V3. That seemed to make it fit my bike much better than the V2! They also come with rain covers now, but I have heard that some early iterations of their bags don’t always come with things like that.
