300 Gallon Aquarium - Plumbing and Final Prep

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Now that my new tank and sump are here, I can finally get to work on the plumbing. In this video I show how everything is connected as well as a couple of other things I've been working on to get ready for the tank move.

    Hi Steve! Question: I installed a Rainbird 1 in. solenoid valve for draining just like you did. But mine doesn't let water flow. I think because it's not a pressurized line. How did you solve for this? Thank you!

    Hi there. Hey have you ever tried or heard of anyone painting the back of a tank that is full? As long as there is little difference between the inside and outside temperatures, so there is no condensation, any idea why it wouldn't work?

  • @mrpressley357

    @mrpressley357

    You can just be careful not to get any in the tank. It might take a lil longer to set due to temp

    Hey Steve I also was going to use those valves to drain my Sump but I wasn't sure if they would work without pressure in them from city water... have you tested it?

  • @evan_rifkind

    @evan_rifkind

    Same question here. I installed a Rainbird 1 in. solenoid valve for draining and it only lets out a trickle of water when open. I think because it's not pressurized.

    Just FYI...there's Low Pressure Solenoid Valves on Amazon that work. Just tested and installed one from Uxcell. Won't work on the standard 24V AC sprinkler timers, but the 110V AC model can be connected to a standard wall plug timer.

    www.amazon.com/dp/B01M2WZ4VC/ref=biss_dp_t_asn They have 1/2" to 1" options. I used the 110V AC version so it could plug into a wall outlet or timer. Worked quite well today when tested. It doesn't come with a male-end plug, so you'll need to tie one in. Waterproof connectors are probably a good precaution here. Whatever cord you use needs to handle at least 2 Amps per the specs on the website, but most extension cords will cover that. I'm glad to have found this as it really saved my Auto WC plans. Hope this info helps in some way. You make great content, btw.

    @@StevePolandAquatics That's true, they sale quality. I've personally had one split, Cory from Aquarium Co-Op had one split on his pond, Joey from King of DIY flooded his fish gallery when his split. I believe those we're all Laguna pond hose. Looks exactly the same, but perhaps Jehmco has better quality.

    Thanks for the reply Cody. I will try to look at theirs and see if it's similar. It's honestly a bit thinner than I expected so maybe I'll try to find something thicker.
