Good point, but it is easy to get sucked into the intense health industry right now. So be skeptical of purchases that are costly but “for your health” whereas they most likely provide minimal benefit. I simplified my nutritional supplement purchases a lot to a few core supplements that can be found affordably.

@@NamezzemaN I agree. Most people will see great results with consistency in 3 things: diet, exercise, and sleep. That's really all you need, any supplements provide negligible effects compared to the big 3.

Another good tip is not buying the latest gadgets. Why spend $1000 on the latest phone when you can buy a phone for $200 that does the exact same thing? That's an extra $800 that can be used towards investing, or put into a savings/retirement account

I never buy the latest phone, I'll do with mine until it dies, then buy an older model because they're still amazing (and a lot better than my old phone that i used for years by default. I'm not envious of people who have the latest Samsung galaxy or Iphone, I'd just be scared to drop it x'D or have it stolen. No one wants my Samsung Galaxy S10 edge!!!

$200 for a phone if you just use it to call and text. Phones nowadays are pocket sized computers. No need for a TV when you can watch everything right on your phone. Watch a movie, take a call, check email, scroll on social media-all on one device-its beautiful. So I can understand spending an upwards of $1500 for the camera, processing power, battery, ease of use, security features, screen resolution/durability, cool features etc. The problem is people who spend that kind of money on a phone every year when there are no justifiable upgrades from the previous generation.
I love the library comment. Our library has a cricut vinyl cutter, a sewing machine, a serger, 2 3-d printers, and an x carve which is a small cnc machine for cutting wood in their makers studio that are all free to use!

Love the advice as it pertains to investing too. 1. Wait 1-3+ days after researching before getting into a project->if you want it now, you're probably the exit liquidity of early buyers 2. Not making decisions when fatigued/emotional->wait until you're feeling gooood to make great decisions 3. Say no to "meh" or "kind of good" opportunties->go for the best ones that you're excited about-this will allow you to focus your energy/resources
Simplifying areas of clutter in our lives is my favorite - it reduces decision fatigue, mental clutter and expenses. The intentional pause and waiting 24-48 hours is also helpful when we fall into shopaholic behaviors and one-click purchases.

Thank you so much for all of these great tips! I try save money but an auto function is a great idea. Also meal prepping and not eating out is HUGE! I recently invested in an additional freezer as well so that I can make freezer meals and snacks ahead of time for my family (which eats a ton) every little bit helps. :)
Wow, these are truly some minimalist ideas! But I like that you're playing into the psychology of things, and I LOVE that you're recommending ditching the financial advisors! Buy into the S&P and don't touch it until you're ready to retire is probably the easiest way to be profitable. Thanks Nate!
I hadn’t noticed you were the same black shirt for all your videos. That proves your point that people usually don’t care that much about that as we think they do when we buy all those clothes. I’ll keep some different styles but not as much as to need to be impulsive to buy new clothes all the time
Every January I quit caffeine and alcohol. Great to reset, give yourself a break, and save some money to start the year.
Nate, I LOVE that you mentioned "AUTO-INVESTING" which not only helps to build wealth "automatically" but also it "declutters your life" and you can focus on other things, too. Same like you, I also slimmed down on my cloths! Not sure about your hairstyling tip though 😉

The truth is more important than the facts. Access to productive information is what we all need to become successful in life. To possibly create wealth good enough to retire, proficiency is indeed necessary; causing most affluent entrepreneurs to acquire the synergy of wealth managers that offers high-net-worth operations that encompasses all parts of a person’s financial life. Get yourself an aid.

As to get more details on the wealth manager, easily do quick internet research; (Genevieve Glen Rogers) where I believe you can easily approach her from, do your research with her full names mentioned.
I add side hustles to offset any new spending I plan. I can do consulting work for upwards of $500/hr. So, I just work a few hours to pay for a new purchase.

Agree on the car for cities, however for people that would need to turn a 10 minute car ride into a 30 minute bike ride, opportunity cost, and cost of time starts to become an issue. None the less, a great list Nate!
@AB-ny7zm

Agree... not to mention riding your bike when it's freezing cold outside, really warm, very windy, raining or snowing (if it's a long distance). Or there could also be some days when you are really tired and you are not really up for a 30 minute bike ride. If you can choose between car or bike, I think using your bike is a good idea to keep in mind for some specific days, but not necessarily as a daily means of transport. Anyways, great video by Nate, as usual!

A bike doubles as exercise. Also, depending on where you live you can get places just as quickly on a bike as a car if you know how stop lights work and different short cuts. I can ride my bike home without coming across a single stop light and arrive just as quickly as someone who drove.
focus on the big 3 rent(househack or roommate), transportation(no car loans, bare minimum insurance), and food( homecooked meal)

Wow your Phone bill are so high in the US 😱 As an instance in France for 60Go I pay 8€/month ! Equal for gym membership, in France it's about 20-30€/month !
Tip for hanging cloths : Get a folding drying rack from ikea $15 Holds a small load easily I only dry linens in the dryer. Clothing lasts longer if it's hang dried and most 'dry clean only' clothing can be washed on delicate and hang dried.
I enjoy your stuff. New subscriber for you!

Coffee and tea can be a cheap indulgence to feel like you have treated yourself for fairly cheap ( no liquid, caffeinated sugar cups from Starbucks of course ::). When I stopped, I found I was tempted to spend more money because a “joy” was lost from cutting out my tea and coffee.
