@@VintageTVShows Hey, its alright. It takes a lot of work to make a KZread channel so I really have no right to complain. You are doing a hell of a lot more than most people. So that's pretty cool. You know, I think it isn't just guitar players who behave that way. When you have two people that are both masters in any line of work, there is bound to be some bad blood. I have been a truck mechanic going on 39 years. I am about to retire in the next three (Woo Hoo!). Throughout the years I have seen a lot of young bucks come into the shop that think they are the master mechanic. And, some of them were actually quite talented with their tools. As soon as another mechanic came into the shop that was good with a wrench, the attitudes flared up. The guys couldn't seem to get a long because each of them thought they were better than the other. It was worse than having two women in the same room. I used to think that if the two mechanics put their collective talents together we could turn out a lot of work. But no, that would never happen. I suppose there are examples like that in just about every field out there.

Bahhahahaa Zeppelin is just zep is it? Clapton could only dream of zeps album sales. I dig Clapton but he never reached zep heights, as described by the original commenter above, it's just a fact. Yeah page could be sloppy at times, especially during the late 70's when his addiction was at its worst but it was also the reality of heavy improvisation, 3& half hour long concerts and arduous tour schedules. Stretching 3-5 minute studio version songs out to 20 & 30 mins, played different every night can do that Page probably went a bit to far at times with his experimenting but pushing boundaries also made him great. I saw them a couple of times and they were brilliant. Best concerts of my life. When Jimmy was on he was awe inspiring. Clapton's playing never quite dazzled me like page's could. But hey, each to their own. I'm glad it did for you. All this so and so was the best bar none is rubbish, even worse is the butt hurt fanboy responses with the disrespect of the other guy. it's just your opinion, nothing in the least definitive as your comment implies.

The hit song for the Yardbirds "For Your Love" was also penned by Graham Gouldman later bass player of the band 10cc, by the way. Both Jimmy Page & Eric Clapton are superb guitarists in their own right, in my humble opinion. Loved their work with their respective successful bands Led Zeppelin & Cream. And Eric's solo stuff was very good, as well.

To me, a great guitarist is always marked by creativity and ability. I think Jimi Hendrix was likely the greatest guitarist of all time, i.m.o. To compare Jimmy Page to Eric Clapton is much like an apples and oranges scenario for me. Vastly different styles. Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck are probably my 2nd and 3rd favorite guitarists ever. Eddie Van Halen, ranks 4th, or else, tied for 3rd. Then come Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton, along with Brian May, in line. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Walsh, Tom Scholz and Randy Rhodes also deserve mention, as does Steve Howe, Alex Lifeson, and Eliot Easton. Jimmy Page was the founding member of, the producer of, and guiding force behind, (arguably), the best Rock n Roll band of all time, Led Zeppelin. So in my opinion, if I had to choose between the two, obviously, Page is the clear winner. I am more of the "70's generation", however, (Having been born in 1962.), and I think that those of the previous generation to mine, had/(have) a much greater admiration of Eric Clapton.

Eric never recovered after Cream was left in the dust by Led Zeppelin. Basically, he just rode on his laurels through the 70's. The came back briefly in the 80's. Page was smart. When John passed he let Zep end. That sealed their Godlike reputation, by not tarnishing the brand. Respect both, but always been more of a Page fan than a Clapton fan.

Clapton once accepted, by his manager, or a friend, don't know, to Jimmy Hendrix play the first part of his concert, he accepted, yeah of course.. Was about half hour, thirteen minutes... People there became wild about how he plays... Clapton was on panic... "Who is this guy? How can I play now..? You tell me he was good, but not good like this..! " I perfectly understand... But Clapton he's wonderful guitar player, The Slowhand, "Clapton is God", etc.. The rest is Bullshit.. Competition in the right name is good, they improve their own style.. They were young and trying to Who's the best.. No sense but I understand.. Oh.. The Who with Pete Townsend.. Etc.. Happily Bands with great Guitarrists with their own sound and style... All of them great.. Personally, is Keith Richards...!!! The Wonderful and Master Riff Man.. Nobody beats nobody...

This author is full of fantasies about the gavitas of Jimmy Page, who at best, was a one-band wonder metal-head, and was extremely derivative of Clapton, as was Jeff Beck, who has described himself in interviews as a "flash guitarist". Eric Clapton's work with John Mayall and subsequently Cream revolutionized the entire world of electric guitar, as every significant historian has already noted. Jimmy Hendrix didn't know what a Marshall amp was 'till he saw Clapton using one.

Clapton hates Page because Page is better than him. Better guitarist, songwriter, producer and arranger. While Page was still a teenager he was one of the most sought-after session guitarist and producer. Jimmy was the total package while Eric was just a guitarist. After Derek and the Domino's Eric was done and with the exception of Layla that record was a little thin while 461 Ocean Boulevard was lame. His output during the 70s was weak while Led Zeppelin dominated rock. It wasn't until his unplugged record in the 90s that he once again became relevant

Are you twelve years old? So how many times have you seen Led Zeppelin. How many times have you seen Eric Clapton. Your assessment is childish at best. I mean, it's fricken laughable. You seem to forget that like Clapton Page was a strung out junkie and wasn't good for much for a time. His attempts at musical come backs were awful at best. The Firm was one of the few concerts we walked out of it was so loud and so shitty. Half the Concord Pavillion bailed that day. As for talent. Spare me. How many times have you seen Eric with say Steven Winwood? Santana? How many Crossroads festivals have you been to? It's amazing how many guitarists show up to play with and for Eric. I'm sure you'd be a big hit with your idiotic drivel with the musicians who play with him. Ever hear what B.B.King said about Eric? Go look. To top it off this video is bullshit. Just like the one who claimed Eric and Jeff were at odds. Grow up.

Let’s be real. Clapton made good music in the 70s and all Zep records have filler on them. Clapton was a frontman and good at it and he could sing well. Clapton is not my favorite…I like Page more, but steamrolling Clapton’s influence and his work by overlooking reality just because you like one and not the other doesn’t say anything. Both were heroin junkies, both played in the same band, Clapton had a career outside of any band. Page had a ten year run, Clapton going on 60 years. So saying Clapton did nothing in the 70s and 80s would make me think WTF did Page do in that period?

For cripes sake I have never heard such juvenile fanboy rantings. They are both rock icons. It's not a contest or sport FFS I prefer page but I think Clapton is a great musician. Both have been huge influences to so many who followed. It's subjective what each person prefers or thinks sounds better. And as for this so called hatred and 30 reasons, I question it and think it grossly exaggerated here. For a start there is so many might've, could've, perhaps, maybes it's ridiculous. There likely was some ego and healthy rivalry at this level among many legends but I'm sure they respect each others contribution to rock history I'm sure both are living well with all their millions made Chill out fanboys, why so much hate and disrespect for the other guy you don't listen to?

Remarkable how factually inaccurate and otherwise atrocious this is. Stopped watching at around 9 minutes.

I think this is BS. Listen to the last 5 Clapton albums. Jimmy and the band organized wonderful blues and rock that is unsurpassed. Eric can still kill you and Jimmy can’t even play a lick. Page was constantly sloppy. Eric was never sloppy. The wide range of Clapton music far overshadows the five years when Page decided to play. Page was a mess. Clapton kills him. And Clapton uses a strat. It’s all bull.

Take a listen to Clapton's shredding and improvising on Cream's live vol. 1, vol 2 along with Cream's "Wheels of Fire" album and again on Derek and the Domino's "Layla" album... Then let's find out who really couldn't carry the other's jockstrap...LOL
