i met johnny vegas once in euston station at around 9 o'clock at night, he was very drunk and was trying to buy a train ticket at one of the machines, he started talking to my mum and i and told me to always listen to my mums advice, unless it was about becoming an escort which he said was actually a respectable line of work. he then told us to have a good night and stumbled away into the darkness. it was such a weird night, felt like a fever dream, me and my mum went home laughing and still bring up our encounter with him to this day.

Came here after seeing the last episode...

One of the most naturally funny people on TV. Doesn't even have to tell jokes he just acts like himself and it's hilarious.

It's amazing how Johnny can be so hilarious and also so earnest. In between his insane anecdotes and rants there are brief glances at the emotional man underneath that make you think "I'd actually like to sit down and have an earnest conversation with him", and then the clip about telling the builder to fuck off starts playing and you forget all about it and start laughing 😂

Romanticising mental illness is a calamitous idea, it pulls focus away from recovery and survival. The genius, if there be any, is in recovering from mental illness, or nothing to do with the mental illness at all.

We all had a johnny vegas in our class at school. Usually ended up getting the remains of an eaten apple hopped off his head

The poem is one of those things that should be in all poetry books and in a museum. It's genuinely beautifully written.

The timing in the first part are ridiculously good. "I expect you to smell of piss mister Bond"

Whenever I see Johnny I think he needs a very lengthy warm hug.

I love that there's a moment when johnny vegas is reading his poem when john cooper clarke looks over like, where the fuck did that come from, an artist recognising raw talent. I do this for a living and you knocked that out for a comedy show

I do love Johnny. I think he's so much more intelligent than he gives away. I worry he's one of the many tortured souls with comedy as their release.

I've said before, and I'll say again: I didn't know what to make of Johnny Vegas at first. But I've come to realize he's a fucking genius.

My favourite thing about johnny is that when he tells a story , it makes no sense at all but his accent and his tone of voice makes it so funny and enjoyable to watch

I've always watched, and liked anything Johnny vegas has done. But in recent years he's on another level, especially his panel show appearances. His last leg takeover is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. You can see it in his eyes that he's plotting his next line, but every one is delivered with perfect timing. If he's on The Last Leg again, I'll be waiting for the "I DID It"

As funny as it is, I love the other shirt one more. "I got to there. And I started cryin'. I started cryin' Jimmy. Cuz my life hasn't gone to plan." Will always be hilarious to me. Almost as funny as him just destroying the opening of the Last Leg in the first clip.

"Because it's so high it's become silly" I love that line. I've never been up that high but that line just makes perfect sense to me because if i was that high up i definitely would find it silly.

When you have other comedians in utter tears of laughter, you know you're a genius.

Johnny Vegas and Richard Ayoade are an amazing comedy duo.

Having sat through about seventy or eighty poetry recitals, Johnny’s beats them all hands down. Superb.

OK, this is the first day I've ever known about Johnny Vegas. Either he is the most astute village idiot or an absolute fucking genius. Im leaning towards the latter, and either way I love him.

I really don't know how he remains completely straight-faced when the entire room he's in is erupting with laughter. Been in love with this man since I saw him on Black Books.

That first clip of the Last Leg is one of the funniest things ever. My favorite moment from Johnny is when he's going "I started crying Jimmy. I started crying because my life hasn't gone to plan."

Johnny Vegas is one of those comedians that has the amazing ability to absolutely floor a room of fellow comedians.

Vegas is like that one friend who spends so much time being funny. , you forget the serious shit thats happening. I always get the impression with vegas.

He's doing well. Northerners wear their hearts on their sleeves and he's always been open about his demons. I don't think he's playing much of a character though, more of a slightly exaggerated version of himself, and possibly channeling the person he used to be when he was gigging absolutely shit-faced.

He's wearing a SAGA T-Shirt with "Lying cat" on. He does love the comics.

Whenever I feel sad I just turn this on and in 30 minutes or less I feel so much better. I've seen this video about a dozen times now. Life is good. EDIT: It's a year later, I still come back. I just realised though, the first clip... the self control in maintaining that poker face Johnny kept is just astounding.

I love Johnny Vegas dearly; he's absolutely genial. But he worries me... I can't help but see Robin Williams in him, and, well... I guess I can take solace in the fact that Johnny Vegas is actually a fictitious character, yes ? God that poem was dark.

If you watch his interview with Richard Herring, he talks a lot about the Johnny character as being a kind of defense persona for him. He sounds like an incredibly thoughtful man as his true self, glad he's cleaned up a bit

Not only is Vegas brilliant, he helped me a lot in starting to understand some of the stronger UK accents. When I saw her the first time, I didn't understand a word he was saying. Now I can follow him just about all the time, and if I miss something, re-watching what he said usually helps.
