I lived on East Drive for years and it's locally known that the owners came up with the idea to make up a back story and rent out to pay the mortgage (not just that house but other properties), you've got to ask yourself WTF would a monk be doing living in a residential street. It's all BS and all the times that we used to see people turning up we'd just laugh and think a fool is easily parted from his money.

Im not saying the events didnt happen to the pritchard family but the way Carols hyped all this up is crazy and believe me i know what a haunted house is like ive lived in 1 but when i visited 30 east drive absolutely nothing happened there was nothing spooky about this place at all...

I'm reading the Black monk of Pontefract book at the moment and while I can accept that strange things happened to the family, some of the later stories and investigations seem a bit dubious, also the current owner of the house was involved in the movie released in 2012.

I found this really interesting, thank you for your honesty. I’ve always been a bit unsure of that place tbh. I’ve just subscribed with you .👍

Micheal I have only just found your video / channel. I have to say, I absolutely one hundred percent agree with every word you have said, in fact, it is almost like I would say it. I have with another couple of guys, been carrying out paranormal investigations for many years. Like yourself, I didn’t believe or disbelieve, in the paranormal. As a group of three, we carried out honest investigations, and as a result of that, we’re often invited to investigate private dwellings, where we were able to provide reassurance, that no paranormal activity existed, as it was usually the case……it didn’t. Like yourself, we travelled up one evening to 30 East Drive, (from West Sussex), and this was on the Wednesday before the filming on the Friday, by Most Haunted. This episode of course featured the great Paul O’ Grady. I have to say, we spent from 18:30 that evening, to 07:00 the next morning, and what were our findings? A big fat zero, nothing, and you are right, it is very easy to get carried away, with being in a location that allegedly has so much going for it, but for us…..it did nothing. I would further add, to what you say about the money making venues, yes all this is as we found to be very true, and as such would not encourage or entertain such bookings. Also, there are now many outlets, mainly online, which will relieve you of your hard earned cash, to buy a whole host of equipment to enhance your ghost hunting experience. Generally, if someone makes an enquiry to our small group, we would invite them along to an investigation, and suggest basic kit, a pair of easily made divining rods, a compass, a digital camera and a digital recorder with downloadable files. And of course, the all important note book to record your findings. All the best in your investigations, if your are still doing so 👍.

I caught a few things on cam at that house, I had nearly every angle covered. Some weird fast moving shadow in front of the bathroom. Also some other visual anomalies. Also some knocks and taps. The knocking at like 2am from the other side of the house not connected to the neighbours shit me up. Still, even after all that, I want more to prove the place is haunted. Something that jumps out and leaves no doubt. I agree, an amazing amount of money being made, but I still think there's something about that house. A very heavy, electric atmosphere. Interesting to hear your take on this.

Sorry a bit late but great video mate, just discovered your channel and subscribed and liked!! Yeah it's totally a money-making scam, first saw this nonsense on an old Arthur C Clarke programme in the 80's, world of weird shite or something, and believed it at the time until I realised the young Mum interviewed probably just wanted a better house from the Council!!! MrGrey stayed there relatively recently and didn't see a damn thing. Will catch up on your previous videos and keep up the good work.

Thanks for telling us your experience, often times that is what happens with the paranormal, exploited & over dramatized until whatever truth there was becomes entertainment. I'm a skeptical believer, I now expect anything paranormal to be as real as the spirit I saw, details below: I'm researching 'if there is life after death' after seeing so many fake KZread channels making spirits out to be Hollywood entertainment. I found anything paranormal happens so fast I miss it, or it's so faint at times I need audio boost to hear, but when you do see something as I did, I didn't know what I was looking at? He looked very real, he looked as shocked as I was because I nearly collided with him carrying boxes, on the first day we moved into our home, 18 yrs ago. He was as real as any person alive until he vanished in front of me leaving me questioning what the hell I saw. I've seen, heard & caught the occasional glimpse of a form, but it's so quick I can't make sense of what I'd seen. It's an interesting field 'whatever' it is the Paranormal.

If your a real investigator then you should know not every thing happened every time.

Glad you made this video. I went in 2015 and to me something didn't sit right about the whole setup to be honest. So I scoured for anything from the Pritchard family, nothing. The Black Monk and the Well? There's no historical evidence to back any of it up. I didn't experience anything in the house apart from a general creepiness that I think just comes from the nature of the house and it being such a throwback in terms of decor. I'm not saying there's nothing there at all but even back in 2015 it was a circus as you rightly described.

A lot of these places “ supposedly haunted “ are just making money for the owners, even some of these haunted museums, not all but most. I’m also a sceptic. I’ve subscribed I like your honesty and take on this.

Thankyou so much for your honest nature, I have always wondered about that home and now I feel at ease knowing it’s all crap, I was actually thinking myself that why would the monk want to hang around all these years having people coming in day after day with the same question, anyone would get sick of that lol.

Medieval English would incomprehensible to our modern ear, and vice versa, yet many who investigate continue to use modern parlance. Yet we expect the Black monk to comprehend.

It’s possible that something terrible did happen to that family. It could of been a poltergeist. Wasn’t there a little girl in the house with the original family that had all the issues? From what I understand poltergeists don’t usually stick around for very long. So what ever was there was like a firework. It burned hot for a short amount of time and then burned out.

Couldn’t agree with you more. I grew up in a haunted house. A detached council house in Somerset, just like any ordinary house really. We lived there from 1998-2014. Except from a few knocks and bangs, things turning on like taps etc, it wasn’t that bad. However, once my younger sisters reached their teenage years, things got really bad. Furniture being throw, shadow figures, Erie moans and groans, footsteps and doors being slammed. On a few occasions one of my sister got slapped on the back, and a red hand print was visible. This happened for a period of around 4-5 years. Then one day a lightbulb smashed for no reason, and activity significantly decreased. We recently contacted the new occupants, and they have experienced odd things, bangs and knocks but nothing to the extent of what we witnessed. I firmly believe that was the case at 30 east drive. Like you said, it’s all a money making circus now. Stories get out, and people add a little extra on each time. The caretaker is probably in on it too, after all she must get something out of doing it. Keep up the good work. 👍

@@lifeofmichael thanks for taking the time to reply. We had a couple mediums come over and do a walk round. We found out the original homeowner died in the house from a heart attack in the 1960s. His name was len. She also picked up on a spirit of a little girl. I did do some EVP sessions on a really basic voice recorder. And I picked up the name len. Which was astonishing as that’s the name the medium had said. A proper investigation with some high tech equipment should provide some good evidence I would say!.

I used to work in Dixons and we sold these Panasonic voice recorders for 79.99. i remember having around 50 in stock. today they are worth 4k each :( zak bagans is now using one, they are unreal

The same with Psychic Mediums that offer to do you a reading for a rip off price, that immediately makes me question their credibilty. i visited one years ago who would not take any money, you could make a small donation to the Church if you like but you didn't have too, and she was the best Psychic Medium I ever visited, the ones I've visited that charge a fortune I found pretty poor.

great video and very honest, i agree with what your saying im going to say i agree there is something there but i feel the activity caught by most haunted and paranormal lockdown could be just a sign that the spirit or spirits are pissed off with people constantly being there disturbing them and if there is something demonic there as ive heard in the past they like to lurk and do things in its own time

Scam! I've lost count of how many videos I've watched about this place and up to now it's been flashing cat balls, flashing emf meters, spirit boxes saying random words but no actual paranormal activity?

Michael I am glad I came across this post. I was so close to getting myself and a group to go to this place. And more so thank you all for your comments etc on this. That's £85 I have saved myself. Would have loved to know if they had some kind of set up in the loft.

I’m glad I found this video, I was planning to go soon. Got the bug after being in Newsham park hospital and caught a woman singing over us talking. I’ve always been interested in the paranormal but at £60 pp and an additional £10 to sleep over I’m glad I’ve found this video. Great timing after just watching carols faked video where you can hear her whispering “shut up they can hear you,” to her friend that was with her even though she claimed to be alone. No one has ever caught as much footage as carol did even within the first 10 minutes of her video. It’s a shame because it takes away the authenticity of all ghost hunts. Think I’ll look for somewhere else to go. Such a shame ChinglenHall is closed to public because I would love to go there

Stumbled across your video randomly, I do like watching paranormal videos, but I'll be honest a lot of the East drive videos seemed disappointing because nothing seemed to happen in them. From what you have said it sounds like they have got a sweet deal going, so they will never give that up.

Have you done one of these videos on the Ostrich Inn i think its called in Colnbrook? where wealthy travellers used to be murdered, they were put in a certain room where they would be tipped out of the bed into a room below and murdered

Hi Michael i also visited East Drive in 2018 and stayed over just us 2 as everyone else chickened out and left around 3 am. I have just seen your Video and have to agree with you the place is over run with Groups around 15 or more at a time which makes it impossible to do anything Scientifically Paranormal. In all Honesty during our time alone the only unusual event was in the little girls bedroom i asked for the door to open and surprisingly it opened. Now whether this was paranormal or not i doubt. but absolutely nowt else happened. (ITS AN OVER HYPED MONEY MAKING JOKE) I was down stairs on my own doing a vigil and NOWT. And the only thing i got from the Coal shed was frost bite lol. Nice to see you telling it as it is that its just a Money Making Scam. Interesting. Same as you , the only thing I managed to see happening is to make the door to the little girls bedroom to open, almost on demand. I looked and tested to see if I could replicate it, see if it was rigged but I couldn't find anything. The fact that two of us are reporting it independently is interesting though. It wasn't enough to sway me one way or the other though. Just a curiosity.

I would agree with you - this is one of those places that maybe once had activity but even the ghosts wouldn't be staying around to deal with the shit that goes on day after day and week after week. It's done and dusted in there.

One of the Yorkshire pages on Facebook just posted an article about the house. I scrolled through the comments where there were a bunch of people from the street and round about. They were all saying they’ve never seen or heard anything there. One lady said she went to school with Diane. And used to go to the house regularly just a couple of years before it all kicked off. They used to see her in the supermarket for a while after it all hit the news but then suddenly she was gone and they never saw her again. I guess we’ll never know what really went on but I think what’s going on now is a scam.

30 East Drive is probably not the most haunted house on East Drive let alone the UK, as for the woman next door, well let's say I wouldn't trust her, she comes across to me as fake as the house, she tells the stories like words from a script, which of course they are. I also strongly suspect that a lot of the noises in the house are from next door. I also have a theory that there could be some hidden doorway in the attic to enter and exit the two houses.

Definitely glad I went, haunted or not. It’s a much more fun experience to go in believing and seeing the house so preserved is a cool part of recent history

Been there done that. Tital rubbish, i am a paranormal investigator of 52 years, been all over the world, this place a scam. People be warned.

I have only just found this! As a team, we have been to many locations. Some had notable results, others nothing. This location, our experiences and thoughts echo yours. We have had first hand experience with scams inadvertently becoming part of them ourselves until we realised what was going on and pulled out! We found there was a common pattern. These locations command more money for a group of ten individuals to hire, for a night at £80 a head, than they would receive renting out at half the hire cost for a whole month. I classed this investigation as "The 70s Museum".

Every single team who investigated this house that I have watched got NOTHING

I always find it suspicious ,that ghost only seem to haunt places where there's money changing hands I watched a program on TV till early hours about this place ,where the neighbour wouldn't enter it ,when asked why she didn't move ,she replied the demon in the house would follow her ,and it wasn't fair to take that to another property , She didn't mention about if you give me a few quid I go il go in ,she aslo didn't mention she was the cleaner ,infact they had another guy who said he was the caretaker ,I found it strange that she had the keys to the place The other strange thing is the house has been left in a 1970s deco ,but someone has also thought it needed a brand new combi boiler ,maybe they thought the ghost needed good heating for them long Yorkshire winter nights

The house was filled with 70's period furniture when it finally changed hands. Example:The clock at the top of the stairs presumably represents the original clock that allegedly fell down the stairs.

I thought when most haunted went there it was total bull shit Karl being dragged up stairs was like a comedy 🎭 I don’t think there’s anything in that house at all

It's seems like, it's more for the benefit of entertainment, for the viewer paranormal intrigue. Lol sorry to say this but it's in Pontefract not Leeds. Which is apart of Wakefield District. I've wanted to go for years. But I would never pay that much to stay anywhere even Chillingham Castle. I think there too much hype about this house. I think Black monk left years ago. After Mrs Pritchard spent the rest of her life living there. If the ghost were that bad she wouldnt of.

The people that makes some of the abandoned houses videos make one after the other and the headline is always oh it was so haunted we had to leave and couldn't go back or something like that and I have to wonder how every house they go to is so haunted and sometimes the story they tell is a lie about the people who used to live there to make it special. Iv always said its just a house. The owner must be making a fortune. It's all a scam.

I find once a haunted location has lots of people going through it consistently that has an effect and dissipates the haunting. It’s a strange thing ‘hauntings’ as a place I used to go had a very active spirit where many people shared in the phenomenon as it would produce responsive knocking that was varied and correct every time. When I went (and I went many times and stayed over night twice) was at the peak of activity. Now the people that go hardly experience anything. This is why I think things change. What once was will not always be, energy doesn’t die but changes form.

Believe me I have seen a black shadow monk in the past but not at 30 East drive... I live in Scotland and I saw the black shadow monk at one of my old houses..... I was standing in my house looking out my window the next thing I saw was this black shadow monk hovering down my drive way coming towards my front door.. Also used to get a lot of activitie in the house also.. I tried to dismiss what I saw but what I saw was genuine

Yes didn't you see Carl get dragged up the stairs by a rope around his waste that house may have history but it's over and done with the owners are just living off the history of the place in order to make money and there House has never been updated Inside so in my opinion waste of money and people are still willing to waste there money I'm not saying nothing happened in that house but I think it's dead history and it's all over

Not true. If the house is truly haunted you will know instantly and sometimes a few hours later. If you have spent the night and nothing happens then its time to go. Because nothing is there. Some ghost likes to haunt when your alone. If you still get nothing, then its not haunted.

My house has a modern looking chap in what looks like 80s style who comes and goes by a window that was a door when I first bought the place. I see him possible twice a year tops. The truly scary thing is he almost looks real

I was the local Police Sgt. Prior to the making of the film I heard nothing about this house being haunted. After the movies released nothing but!

You want something genuine ? Plan a trip to the Ostrich Inn, Colnbrook, Berkshire. It is steeped in history about travellers that were murdered by the owners of the inn. I know people that worked in the restaueant andbar areas that had weird shit happening.

This is like playing Solitaire blindfolded.

I'm 45 over my life I've experienced 3 maybe 4 things I can't explain 1 of those things 3 of us saw we didn't film anything at all but can any explain how a ball moves.on a table in a x shape if it was windy it'd been blown straight off it wasn't never felt anything weird there at all lived in that house for many years only other thing in there was seeing things out of the corner of me eye but nothing bad or anything like that

Guys listen it is haunted stuff happens there but the thing is that it is not very active

80 pound a night monday to thursday they make more on groups than a family

Well i was looking at going in December but after watching this i don't think i will bother. My concern was the amount of people on this tour and not being able to distinguish the sounds between human or spirit. Thanks for your honest review and if you could recommend a better place to visit instead that would be great.

Carol is actually my great aunt and the amount of stories she’s told me from when i was younger. I cant wait to turn 16 so i can go into the house myself and really enjoy the expierience

They have made enough for it to be empty for years ,most landlords I no can't afford for a property to be empty for a month

Whatch a few of these blogs re this house. Have not seen anything yet.

Spirits come and go every where is haunted.just call out.some spirits dont want to play with certain people.also they might not be there

Good to hear your take on it, and I totally agree, I was a guide at Chingle Hall in Lancashire in the 70s and it cost 30p for an hours guided tour of the hall, which was built in 1260, it cost nothing to stay the night, and I didn't believe in ghosts until I went there, but my mind was soon changed, it was a remarkable place sadly now closed to the public, but the things I witnessed there over a twenty year period will always stay with me.
