@@gamingwithjackiechang1647 It is great that you are seeing improvement and you should be proud of the work and effort you are putting in. thank you this video was very helpful!! i am wondering, do you think it is worth starting to memorise lots of flashcards now? i have quite a few that are online and already made but im not sure if i should spend so much time trying to learn these incase there isnt enough time left to actually be able to recall them - what would be your advice on this?
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
I'm so pleased you found the video helpful! You still have plenty of time to learn flashcards- if you already have most of them made, you've saved yourself so much time because you can focus on learning them rather than making them. Because the exams are getting quite close, make sure you are doing practice questions to check your knowledge after using the flashcards. I hope that helps!
The mindset is so useful. I went from failing in English in November to getting grade 5 (in both) in February MOCK'S.

You don't even know how much this vid is helping me cope For trying to revisit content - do i just watch the videos and not make notes from it?
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
I am so glad it is helpful! Feel free to take notes when watching videos if it helps you to remember information- what I meant in the video was that spending hours writing extensive notes from the textbook or your schoolbooks is a waste of time. Consolidating what you have learnt in a video in note form is completely fine- as long as it doesn't take up the majority of your revision time! For revisiting content, the best thing you can do is test yourself to see what you can recall from previous study sessions on that topic x

Are you currently using other revision methods alongside making notes? For the sciences, you have to remember specific facts and keywords so making notes/summary pages from textbooks and videos is fine as long as you use active revision techniques (e.g. flashcards, blurting) as well to train your memory to recall information. Definitely make use of practice questions too! x

Is it ok if I am making notes from textbooks and videos or should I stop? What should I do?
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
Personally, I wish I stopped making notes at this stage of my revision because it took up so much of my time. However, if you make quick summary notes from the textbook to help you understand the content, that is completely fine- just make sure you aren't relying on notes as your only revision method, especially if you find it too time-consuming!
is it advisable to do past exam paper questions daily and then do a full past paper over the weekend?
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
That is a great idea!
How many times do you need to go over content for grade 9s in GCSE
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
There isn't a set number of times you need to go over content for grade 9s. I would say to review topics until you feel confident answering exam questions without using any resources. You will find some topics you can remember everything about after a small amount of revision whereas other topics may require more time before you can recall all of the information x
I haven't started any revision , and if i attempted to answer an exam question I would not be able too because I don't know any content , but its to late to start learning all the content , what do I do ,please reply
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
It is not too late to start learning content! Once you have identified the topics you are least confident with, start revising them (begin with flashcards, mind maps etc. and then move on to things like blurting). Then around a week later you can start doing questions on those topics to check your understanding. I would start doing past papers asap even if you don't feel confident with all the content because it's important to get used to the style of questions and exam technique as early as you can x
My current grades: English - 7A Bangla - 8A* Physics - 7A Chemistry - 6B MathB - 6B Maths A - 7A Higher maths - 5C My igcse is in a month, I hope i can get at least 8A* in all the following subjects 😫 (except for higher maths bcz i lost hope in it already) PS: thank you for making this video, i don't know if i will do well in my exams or not but this video was indeed helpful and i need it so i subbed ur channel 💙

@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
I didn't take either of those subjects so I can't give you subject-specific advice, but overall I would encourage you to focus on prioritising the content you are least confident with. If you don't know most of the content, start with the major topics which frequently come up in the exams x

how should i go abt my science revision when i barely know anything other then the first few topics?
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
I would use my advice on prioritisation! Start by colour coding the main topics (RAG- red, amber, green) depending on how confident you are with them. Then you can start working through the red/hardest topics first and move towards the amber and then green topics if you have time before your exam. Try and avoid passively reading and re-writing notes and instead focus on using active methods such as flashcards and past paper questions. I hope that helps! x
For sciences i know i need to do past papers but theres still some content i need to recap and if i do the papers ill do badly idk what to do
@AK-di5vp
Ай бұрын
do the past papers and then use the mark scheme to mark what you got wrong, highlight which topics u need to work on and improve them,also just practice the same paper after learning topics u got wrong and do the same with other past papers x
@EllenVictoriaa
Ай бұрын
My advice would be to not wait until you have revised all of the content to do past papers. Start doing them now even if you struggle to answer some of the questions because they will help you identify which topics you are less confident with. After completing a few papers, you may notice that you keep getting questions from the same topic wrong or you are struggling with the same style of question. These are then the topics/questions you should practice before the exam. I hope that helps!

As I said in the video, it is unrealistic to try and get through every topic this close to the exam. However, you can't change how much revision you have done already so it's better for you to focus your time and energy on the time that you have left. I would recommend you sort the topics by difficulty and start revising the ones you are least confident with as soon as possible. Use flashcards (you should be able to find pre-made flashcards e.g. on Quizlet, if you haven't already made some) and start doing past paper questions (preferably in timed conditions) asap so you can get used to exam technique and test your knowledge! If you put the work in from now until the end of GCSEs, you can definitely get 5s in everything! Just don't procrastinate 😉🤍

If you have done all of the papers for Science and Maths and get all of the questions right every time, that's really good and it means you probably can focus more on other subjects! In terms of making sure you don't forget things quickly, make sure you are going over your resources and testing yourself (e.g. blurting or with flashcards) often. I also struggled with graph/statistic questions but found the only way to get better at them was to practice as many as I could. I hope that answers your question!

The exam boards do use new questions each year but they will also have questions that are similar and sometimes exactly the same as previous papers. Even if you are only getting answers right because you have memorised the question, that will definitely help you in the exam as it is likely you will get at least a few questions similar to those you have been practicing. They cannot test you on anything outside of what is on the specification so if you have completed as many papers as you can and gone over the majority of the content, you will be absolutely fine- I promise!
