@@chalmersardler9212 Hi...thank you for writing back, its always lovely to hear all the experiences and stories of the past. I lived in London at that time..we moved up to Scotland after my dads testimonial ... He had the chance to manage Brighton at the time...not sure when he declined. He was a very humble man with a very big heart...on pitch he was a hard for sure. Thank you so much for sharing..Im outside of Glasgow now......stay safe..take care

Anne Spencer Hi Anne just watched this game as well just today and I do remember it very well in which I played for Chelsea. Your father was a really good player and a tough defender and I played against him many times. John Dempsey ex Chelsea Player . Stay Safe.

@@johndempsey7528 My dad now 89 was a Chelsea season ticket holder in the 1960s and into the 70s. Saw you at Wembley in the 1970 Cup Final. Sadly couldnt get time off work for the replay. He looks back on those days with great pleasure.

Hi Anne, was sorry to hear your Dad passed away not so long ago. I've been a Palace fan since '72 and he was my boyhood hero. They certainly don't make them like him anymore.

When I see wonderful clips like this it makes me want to say so much , but all I can say is ...Peter Osgood . For me thinking of the days of playing non stop football in the street or park ( with jumpers for goalposts obviously ) and the occasional chance to see that great Chelsea team ( respects to Peter Bonetti ) - it just makes me happy . Thank you football ⚽.

This was the first game at Stamford Bridge I went to with my granddad. My granddad supported Chelsea from the end of the Great war onward. His best pal choose Arsenal and granddad decided Chelsea would be his team. He was a season ticket holder for many years and used to sit close to Lord Attenborough.

Thanks for sharing this footage - i was there as a slightly nervous 14 year old Palace fan....not sure we've scored a better team goal in the 52 years since !! It was a real struggle that campaign [ only Jackson , McCormick , Blyth & Kember were bona fide top flight players ] but we loved them for their sheer grit. Fine Chelsea team too.

What a great match... a quality Chelsea goal. Peter Osgood was my hero , I got the kit, and those shorts with the number 9 , special back in the day, Chelsea kit was classy, Royal Blue. I can remember 1970 Cup Final, with Leeds. Coming from Bradford, I must have been the only one supporting Chelsea, at the Local school in Idle, Everyone at school supported Revie’s Leeds in those days. Happy, happy days. 😊

I don't watch football any longer, what's the point, no London players, no English players and no British players. Just overpaid ponces who would not last ten minutes on a football pitch back in the day....

Back when Chelsea wasn't just packed with English players, but Londoners too: Bonetti, Harris, Webb, Hinton, Dempsey, Hollins, Birchenall, Hudson, Osgood, Houseman and Tambling. That's 11 regulars all wearing the blue of Chelsea (7 of them home grown) at around the same time, late 1960s. Those were better days.

Hi John you are a great player. I have supported Chelsea since 1964. In 1966 my school team were invited to meet the players before the game against Sheffield United. We won 2-0. I can't remember who scored but I think Bobby Tamblyn scored one. Tommy Docherty and all the players were great. I remember meeting Peter Osgood and Ron Harris and Peter Bonetti. I think you joined in 1969. Thanks for all your great performances for Chelsea.

A plain, ordinary North Stand at Stamford Bridge. Not that overly-structured one that came a few years later which saw few spectators using it in it's early years.

Why would a great player like Hudson take such a rubbish corner putting it in orbit. The next cross harder and flatter was easy to get some power on and Ossie scored.
