I’ve admired this entryway since you first built it. It seems so practical as well as quite attractive.

Thank you!
This is a timeless look and I love it that you’re not redoing it for content. I loved it when you first did it and I still love it.

Can't believe it's been three years since you posted the original video! I watched it. Glad everything held up well for you.

Me neither, feels like last year😊
Looks beautiful! My hallway is narrow too and I love this !!❤thankyou
I’ve always wanted an entry way. Yours is lovely, you have the decorating gene. 😊
❤ this hallway…life happens, who cares if it gets messy, you have made it very easy to clean up once you give the order to your girls. 😉. Still one of my favorite design videos of yours. Trying to convince my brother to let me do this to his hallway. (He hates change… 😏). Thank you for the update Christina! Have a lovely weekend ❣️ 🙋♀️🙌🏻💃💐

Thank you! Happy weekend!
I can't believe it's been 3 yrs already, I really enjoyed that shoe cabinet build, its a brilliant way to have easy access but out of sight, especially for those of us that have a little OCD...😉.. Lol.
It still looks great. My family keeps their shoes in their bedroom closets, save 1 or 2 pair of ‘everyday’ shoes.
It's always been my favorite of yours. I'm still waiting for you to come install one for me 😂 Ofcourse you're happy with it. Things don't go viral if they aren't great! 🙌
The video this one refers to is the first one of yours I ever saw. I can't believe it's been three years since!
Love how it looks. I saw the original video. Nice to know it’s working for you.
Still looks amazing!! Such a practical purpose.
It has not only held up but still looks great! No small feat enduring what our Canadian weather and seasons throw at us. Oh the sand!! Ugh. Lol. Great video ❤️🌸
I loved the update. I’ve wanted to buy the shoe holder from IKEA but was afraid if I painted it it wouldn’t last. I'm sold!
This was such a genius idea on storage and an organized clean look. Good to see it still looks good after all this time.
It still looks great! I'm waiting for someone's tip for getting their family to put their shoes in the cabinet! I'm the one putting my husband and 21YO son's shoes in most times. :) That rock mat is absolutely brilliant. It would make a great short DIY video.
Looks great! I also like your idea with the rocks in the boot mat!

Still looks amazing!
Your original video is how I found your channel and have been watching ever since!! Love all your videos. This is such a beautiful and practical use of space. It still looks great!
I love this. I’m thinking of doing the same. It’s so much more appealing to the eye, than an ordinary boot/ shoe rack. I love your entry way. 😊🇨🇦
Wow what a great idea the rock mat!
I always loved that cabinet/entryway you did. It's so classy looking and how you hooked me on watching your videos - never watched one I didn't love!!!! Keep up the good work.
Such a smart solution for a hallway!
I love how in the beginning of your video, even tho you put the inits in the hallway to control shoes, the shoes are still in the floor. Easy peasy solution, but training kids is so difficult.

@The DIY Mommy I highly recommend Gretchen Rubin's book The Four Tendencies. It has really helped me to identify how to work better with people's personalities for situations like that. Fingers crossed it could work for you on this as well!

@@thediymommy I solved this problem before it became a problem - when the kids were preschoolers, anything that was left where it didn't belong was collected in a laundry basket. Before it was time to get ready for bed, we would check the basket for anything that needed to go back where it belongs; otherwise we would be taking it to the donation center to be given to kids who needed new things and would take better care of their things. Only had to follow through once (and hubby's socks got donated, too 😂). Lesson learned, and my house stayed clutter-free. 🥰
This is so funny i remember watching the video when you put this hallway together. I just happened upon this hold up video. So happy to see this and i am glad they held up. I have thought about putting these shoe racks in our entrance as it is a small space. Thank you for the inspiration and to know that our money will be well spent.
This is my favourite makeover of yours! I have a very narrow hallway in my Edwardian terrace here in South Devon UK, and I’ve actually done a slightly smaller version of this!!
I love this entryway hack so much!!! My daughter in law did it with just one piece and it can't out beautifully
The entry way makeover was the first video of yours that I watched. It's beautiful
Loved this from the start!
I totally copied this entry way in my own hall. There is no Ikea where live so I found similar shoe cabinets at Canadian Tire. They have held up well too. Love it!!
I watched this original video. When watching now, I realized this is EXACTLY what I've been looking for the transition hallway between my foyer & family room...for a liquor cabinet!!
Muy bien aprovechado el espacio!!.. Con muy buen gusto decorado, cómo todo lo que haces!!! Enhorabuena 👍 💖🥰🇪🇸
I was just talking to I my husband about how talented you are and all you do. So, it was great to be able to share this video as an example with him. ❤
My first discovered your channel from your original entryway post! still looks great
I liked it when you did it and it still looks good
I think this is the very first video of yours and I’ve been a subscriber ever since. You have great content and thanks for the update video!
Nice! Great idea, Christina ❤
Looks good! I love those shoe storage units. Also, thanks for recommending Ikea bedding in your last video. I was in need of cotton sheets and I didn't want to spend a fortune on them. They were the cheapest sheets I could find. 🙂
Just had a thought. Since this leads through your home, if you could find a small remnant of the kitchen counter (or something very similar) and have it cut to fit that top it would do two things: hide that tiny crack & add a high-end finish to the top of of something y’all are already loving! I love it and I feel like I’m going to do this in my new entry way that is far slimmer than your hall. Thanks for this update! I love your style
The original video is why I subscribed 😊
I am very tempted to do this but my hall entrance is so open and has a curve in the wall. I will have to measurements and see what I can do. Thank you for sharing ❤
I always have loved your entryway since the day I watched the original makeover. It still looks great! You're such an inspiration! I was wondering if you have a link for the greenery that you used in your green glass vase. Thank you.
This my very favorite hack of yours, from when you first posted the video. I want to do something like this in my bedroom. I have to drive about 5 hours one-way to my nearest Ikea, I hope they still have that shoe cabinet, I'll check first😄 Thank you for all your work to bring us these videos!

Thanks for watching! That's definitely a long drive. Do they ship to you?
@TheReflectivePerspective
Жыл бұрын
All of the "nearest" ones to us are as well. If it's in stock, definitely opt for the click & collect option so you're sure before making the drive. This way, you can avoid the disappointment or high delivery fees most of their furniture requires. You can always still go in to look around once you're there! One of the locations is where my father visits other family a few times a year, so I place an order for pick up when I know he is going and he retrieves it for me.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us how your project is holding up. So many times things seem like a good idea but do not stand the test of time. Is the inside color of your front door the same as the outside of the door or the darker color on the walls?
All that stuff you have in the bin is the stuff you put in your purse 👜 Pro Tip: small items like that goes in purse; universal things for family can be used for storage. (Although a closed lid container looks a lot better and less cluttered. )
@thediymommy

My handbag is too small for most of it. I downsized a few years ago when I got tired of searching though my purse for items.
@Sunshine-fy4fz
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I was thinking the same thing! Those items belong in your purse or your jacket pocket, not sitting in a basket and cluttering up your otherwise organized space.
@Sunshine-fy4fz

@@thediymommy You can organize your purse by putting small items in a makeup bag or small pencil case to put in your purse. I have two of these - one with lipgloss, a nail file, and hand lotion, and another one with a small pad of paper, pens, and my id badge for work. Everything is easy to find, and bonus, easy to transfer to another purse 🙌
Love the entryway... I really wanna do my entryway but we are living in a rental
I've admired this since you originally shared! Thanks for this update. How wide is your hallway? I'd love to try this, but my hall is pretty narrow...😊
Looks great! Do you mind sharing the greenery link? Thank you!
Love this video! I was thinking of also doing the double shoe storage from IKEA but thinking of adding a long wood top over both storage, do you think it would work? Instead of gluing the top of the two like you did.. it would be one long piece. Thanks 🙏🏼
What kind of screws did you use for mounting the shelves into your studs? Fantastic video
Random acts of candy…to get the girls to put their shoes in the cubby periodically tape a bag of M&Ms or something they enjoy on the inside of the door!
❤
I just came across your channel and watched the original video seconds ago. One question I have is what system did you come up with for your kids' art?
It has really stood the test and still looks great. I think I’ll put one of these shoe racks in my camper. Do you think the Cloverdale primer would work well on a camper-5th wheel walls and cabinets? Thank you
@thediymommy
Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'd use it on camper cabinets after a sanding. I usually don't find RV walls need a prime unless they're glossy or you want to put peel & stick wallpaper on top.
@fundyroseflower
Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your quick response. Yes I’m doing peel and stick on some of my camper walls. I’m on the Bay of Fundy coast so coastal air and figure I need good adhesion if I want peel and stick to stay on my walls. Thank you again.
It still looks great, especially as it is so functional and well used. If you get a useful suggestion for getting kids to put their shoes away, please let me know. I’m hoping it will work on the older “kids” who leave dirty laundry on the floor, right NEXT to the hamper!!??
@TheReflectivePerspective
Жыл бұрын
Does the hamper have a lid? If so, that stops some people from using them. It seems that extra little step to lift the lid becomes a roadblock even as minute as it is. I learned this the hard way about myself with my file system when I realized I kept putting things on top because I had to open it, but I switched to an easy access system that's working fantastically now.
@christinef7739

@@TheReflectivePerspective I'm the same way. I want everything put away but it has to be in open containers. I want to be able to grab it quick and put it back just as quick. No lids for me!
Am I allowed to ask what vacuum cleaner you are using? 😅 I love a solid canister vacuum.
Where is your rug from and does it get dirty from snow and mud
Hi nice video. Can u plz elaborate if the hinges and hook stay well in the ply wood? Some friends told me that regular opening and closing of the drawers losens the stoppers and hinges connection with wood as they are ply wood and can't be re-inserted or rescrewed again
@thediymommy

Yes, they've all lasted well so far.
I’m wondering if a recent paint that you used is still made as “Latex”. I was surprised to see the word “Acrylic” on interior paint last year when painting. As an artist, I find acrylic paint familiar. I’m sure either is adequate. Best wishes!
Did I miss the link to the greenery ?
Does anyone know the name of the cabinets from ikea. The link here just sends you to the ikea homepage where you would search for the product. My guess is ikea updated the website so the link no longer goes to the product.
Hello, I'd like to know up to what size men's shoe fit inside please please please. You even said it fits your husbands shoes but there's no mention of size. I've tried to find this in all the reviews and videos but not one person mentions it. 🤔
Do you find that shoes in the cabinets get stinky?
Well if the greenery is the $45 one in the link that’s expensive and I find it hard to believe you would pay that much.
Ok so you said you can fit 2 pairs of husband shoes. What size does he wear because I’m mot sure if my husband shoes could fit.
Umm, you live in Alberta. You know that it IS gonna snow again, and since you put the boots away it’ll be your fault, right?
