3 Ways To Use A Noise Suppressor Pedal

Музыка

In this video I teach 3 ways to effectively use a Noise Suppressor pedal, using the omnipresent(hehe) BOSS NS-2, in varying situations of pedals and amplifiers.
**VIDEO MARKERS for various noise situations:
Situation 1: No amp FX Loop, guitar plugged straight in (00:17)
Situation 2: No amp FX Loop, using an overdrive for gain. (01:20)
Situation 3: Onboard amp FX loop, using amp's gain (02:43)

This still the best explanation on KZread of how to use the NS-2. Anytime somebody asks me how to set theirs up, I just send them here.

    1) For those that don't know, Boss pedals are buffered so that there is no tone sucking, which is nice. 2) The main reason for the "loop" built into this pedal is that the input section of the pedal circuit senses the original input, then compares it to what is going out of the output jack on the pedal. The NS2 attenuates the noise accordingly. This helps avoid over attenuation (or tone sucking).

Thanks for the info. If one does want to check on the tone to be safe, is it simply a matter of clicking the pedal off or would it have to be completely unwired and removed from the loop to check for tonal changes?

Thank You for a "Great" Video my friend. Your time and efforts are appreciated very much. I have a PRS Sonzera 50W Combo (which I love) but the "Hum" was a bit loud with 8 pedals (now 9 with the NS-2). The way you have it connected works great with your setup. It's my 1st Noise Suppressor so I wasn't quite sure of the correct way to do it. Thank You again...

Thank goodness someone has correctly demonstrated/described situation two at 1:50 👍. Just looked at the Boss Manual which to be fair does show this type of situation, but it depicts a Tuner and Compressor in the loop. The manual should show an OD/DIST pedal in the loop; as far as I know, tuners are not known for creating noise 🤔.

Hah finally someone who uses it like this! Awesome video! Maybe you should mention that time based effects like loopers, as well as delays and reverbs have to be placed after the whole noise reduction thing (between the NS-2s output and the effects return/poweramp) to avoid cutting off your nice delay and reverb trails :-)

Muhammad Haryandi Noise doesn't affect the Note you are playing in terms of tuning. Anyways if you place the tuner after the noisegate it might be annoying since the gate will cut your notes sustain and make it much more complicated to tune your guitar/bass.

Hi. very good video. Many musicians use a TS800 to boost the distortion of our amp (in my case Metal) and that produces a lot of noise. Maybe you should add something like that, in my case I do something similar to the third example that you give, the only difference is that I connect the TS808 to the input of the NS2 and it works quite well. saludos desde Chile
