Hi Meridith, I’m rather new at this quilling and have been watch heaps of your videos. I used to use a slotted quilling too to start my rolls but don’t like the hole it leaves. Have been trying to use a quilling needle, but have a dreadful problem starting. Do you have a hint how to get it going. I’ve tried tearing the start of the strip but it still doesn’t want to work. I thoroughly enjoy your tutorials as they are very easy to follow and you have a pleasant voice to listen to. Thank you so much for putting in the effort. Very much appreciated. ❤

Tearing the strip is a great start but it's more a matter of pushing the strip around the tool with your thumb and finger. Here is a video with more detail 👉 kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZnqLubGAZsbFh9Y.htmlsi=uIL-oJA57BdtJiFJ But don't beat yourself up about it! Its a little bit of a "feel" thing and once you get it, you'll have no problems!

Thank you, I learn so much from you. I appreciate how you tell us. WHY we should do whatever it is that you do. In my mind a lily of the valley leaf and a leaf for a rose are similar in appearance. I have tried about a dozen different kinds and I'm not happy with any of them. Is there a leaf tutorial that you can think of that might help me with this?

I don’t have those particular leaves but, to me, they’re just a longer version of one of the leaves I made in this post 👉 www.thepaperycraftery.com/quilling/5-more-types-of-quilling-paper-greenery/. Maybe play around with the one that is made of 5 crescents that are molded together. If you added more crescents and tried to get it longer and less heart-shaped, it may be close to what you’re looking for. I hope that at least gives you a starting place!

For leaves like these on a quilling comb, I use Elmer's Glue-All. I have a video all about quilling glues that you can see here 👉 kzread.info/dash/bejne/laGaqLevpZmahdo.html It's an older video, but it still holds up.

Depending on your project, you can frame them, or seal them. I don't usually do any sort of sealant, so I'm not an expert on this. I always refer people to HoneysQuilling.com because she's done lots of research on different sealants.
