They've got the "epic" thing down for power metal and I think it's got some good hooks vocally and a really nice solo. Beyond that I think the instrumental aspects were quite iterative and the production isn't the best. Pretty good track regardless. It's not knocking my socks off but it's really hard for power metal to do that for me given how much I've heard in the genre.

I'd love to know why they decided to sing a song about Daruma (Japanese transliteration of Dharma). It just seems a bit too dramatic to be a song about a 6th century Buddhist monk who brought Buddhism to China. He is also the basis for the Daruma doll (shown in the music video) which symbolises perseverance and goal achievement. When you buy a Daruma doll, it comes with two blank eyes. You set a goal to achieve and colour in the pupil of the left eye. When you have achieved that goal, you colour in the pupil of the right eye. This is referenced in the spoken word portion of the song. The reason why the Daruma doll is basically just a ball with a face and no arms and legs is because Daruma/Dharma is said to have meditated for so long that his arms and legs withered away. Perseverance and goal achievement. Hah. As for the lyrics, it seems to be Daruma in name only, or they are really amping him up. Maybe it's Daruma fan fiction. Lol

Interesting context there. Given that this is not only a concept album but a sequel to a suite of songs on an older album it's possible the info can be found in their other works.
