I've noticed that I improve a lot while watching beginners fight. I would love if you could do a commentary on a sparring session between beginners

I think a lot of these concepts and skills can apply to even in the gym sparring. Even though you are not trying to "win" in sparring, we can still apply the principals to improve our game.

Lost my first fight Saturday from a razor thin split decision. It was due to the reason that I didn’t use more output. I would throw one or two hard shots and he would throw 3 punch combos with a kick. Sometimes it all comes down to what looks good for the judges man. I gotta work on pushing the pace and putting more strikes together. Biting down and being the aggressor. I have good power but I focused too hard on the knockout and good defense rather than just stacking up combos and points and bring offense and defense together if that makes sense.

Lack of counters and lack of fakes are definitely things I'm aware I need to improve, but given how new I am to kickboxing (started training less than 3 months ago), I'm not focusing on those yet. Still try to do some of that when I spar (lightly 🙂), but my focus has been on more basic stuff like recognizing patterns (e.g. "oh, this person keeps slipping my jabs to the outside?">maybe do an arm punch jab and catch them leaning into a lead hook or lead knee), breaking up my own patterns (e.g. switching unpredictably between double jab>body cross and double jab>overhand), remembering to breathe (particularly when defending), and getting a feel for when certain attacks do or don't work (mostly by deciding going to do a lot of knees, low kicks, hooks, whatever for a round and trying to understand when they would've landed vs when I'm getting countered 😅). Plus side, it's reassuring to hear that I am already doing one of the three (mixing levels/angles) 😁

Hey Gabriel! Got a quick question. I’m just starting fight camp and I’ll be honest, I hate running. What is you opinion on substituting running once or twice a week for burpee interval training. I’ve been doing 3, 2 minutes rounds and I’m slowly going to work my way up to 5, 2 minutes rounds with 30 second breaks in between. What is your opinion on training like this?

Not running is okay as long as you have a good alternative. Burpees could be okay but I'd suggest checking out this list of running alternatives: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2mb2LmdktHSldI.html. I made this video a few weeks ago and it should help you a lot.
