    Thank you this is quite useful for people who are struggling. People who say learn vinyl yada yada is just gate keeping. It’s 2024 and there’s technology now and we need to use it. I understand that we need to learn “in case” of tech malfunction but I believe are tech now is too advanced to malfunction. Maybe you are terribly unluckily if there’s tech problems. It might be like a percentage of a plane crashing (please not that the tech for planes are years years years ago) so yeah thank you for this and boohoo for the haters who aren’t using the tech currently. I’m sorry that you all had to learn the hard way but as a community we should be all helping each other out not hating or giving snarky comments about this dude.

    Another banger of a video. I've been using two kind of separator "tracks", one a blank separator and one as a marker to signpost playlist during prep where I want to add more tracks. Coming to rb from vdj one of the saddest moments was losing the ability to dynamically colour tracks in playlists based on rules (similar to rules in intelligent playlists in rb). Still miss that vdj feature

    Great videos my dude. Question please- what does energy really mean 2 u? The word in this context seems a bit nebulous to me. I have a 120 bpm deep house(from ur vids not ur cup of tea) and people love it and sing along. It’s a banger but I would not say it has high energy. In your classification is that like 3-4 even though it the crowdloves it?

  • @ReallyChrisM

    @ReallyChrisM

    6 ай бұрын

    It's subjective - for me I use energy for how a track makes me feel personally. I used to have tags like 'singalong' which you could maybe try out in this sort of scenario

    i made myself three separator tracks in ableton - one with just bass, one with mids and one with high frequencies - so i have a color code in the separators. also i pushed the volume as high as possible - and the seperators look really like "blocks", because the waveform has no dynamics.

    Using stars _and_ color to clarify the energy of a song is bit redundant. I think the rating should be kept for how good you estimate the track will work with the audience, beside the energy color. Also, doesn't the separator trick only work if your playlist is sorted "by track order" on the playlist? Wouldn't the visual layout with separators break once you sort the playlist by other columns, like title, bpm, key, rating, color, etc..?

  • @ReallyChrisM

    @ReallyChrisM

    6 ай бұрын

    The separator works best in scenarios where there is an implied structure to the playlist. For example a pre-planned guest mix or the mini set examples. If you are sorting by other fields such as title or bpm the implication is the playlist is unstructured and I wouldn't use the separator in those cases

    DJ'ing should not be easy, its a skill that must be learned and mastered wich makes it special to be able to do! Teach yourself to dj on a cdj1000. Without all the extra shit that makes it so easy. No sync, bad waveform visuals and just learn your songs, learn how to beatmatch, and try to really master the skill of DJ'ing. After that, you dont even want to use rekordbox anymore.. and most inportant.. dont be afraid of making mistakes!! Thats part of the learning process and even sometimes creates the most happiest little accidents (sometimes) #keepitoldskool!
