I'm middle-aged and I'm thinking of getting one because it makes so much sense. I've been through the fast car and warp speed sports bike phase and do you know what? They just cause stress & frustration because you can rarely use the power and they drain your bank account. 90% of my driving these days is around town so what's the point of a fast car? A car like this will also stop you getting into trouble with plod. I've worked out it'll save me about £1500 a year in petrol and tax and my current car is nothing fast or exotic. The Aygo isn't perfect (no car is but) it ticks an awful lot of boxes.

@@gazzab1986 I bought last week (well a Peugeot 107 which is the same car) and I love it. It's an absolute hoot to drive, not slow at all, in fact it's pretty brisk and they sound great. Took it on the motorway yesterday and it easily kept pace and it wasn't that noisy. Ok it's not a Lexus in the quietness department but then again, a Lexus doesn't do 60mpg. It's a great little motor.

@@thecentralscrutinizer1758 totally agree, I've done over 1100 miles in 2 weeks on day trips while off work and it's not skipped a beat, because it's small on the outside traveling down single track roads was easy, I've done 25k miles since I bought mine and it's still going without any major faults , expect the common back box issue that I've now replaced and done a preventative fix and water leaks in the boot all resolved, only changed the brakes to Borg and beck for added peace of mind and drop links all easily done at home, just service and go, can't really go wrong which is why I'm finding now a want a second one is prices are stupid on them for a decent ish one, which is a shame, tempted on the MK2 aygo though definitely the better looking of the 3

I've had a 2010 Aygo with 144k on the clock for a couple of years now without any problems, about 55mpg and cheap insurance with £20 annual car tax, it is also ULEZ compliant (ie. you don't have to pay it if you go into a zone). Acceleration isn't great, but it will cruise happily at 70mph, 4 doors for comfort of the occasional passengers and a Tardis like hatchback boot that seems to take more than it should. I use this daily for work driving all around Surrey, it's easy to park because of its size, and oddly always looks clean even when its not, it must be the Cayman blue metallic finish. The air conditioning and tilt-able steering wheel gives it a luxury feel, and it just looks like a nice car when I have to park up in people's driveways. Not at all bad for a £1500 car I'd say.

@@TheVideoLounge I bought one last week & I love it. It's plenty fast enough for me. There's no torque but if you use the revs and the gears it's pretty brisk. It sounds great. It actually reminds me of some of the v twin motorbikes I've owned. It's fun, 3 point turns are a breeze and it coped easily on the motorway. I wish I'd bought one years ago.

Considering how small they are, I'm surprised how tall you can be and sit in them, I'm 6.3 and have had one, there are much bigger cars I have much more trouble sitting in. However, I agree with the seats, they work on shorter trips, but if you sit longer than say 40 minutes in them, it starts to feel, I did trips of 6-7 hours a few times in mine and it works, but you become aware that you have a back. It's just about fuel economy in them, so of course they put a little stingy engine in them. But I'm still surprised they didn't come up with a GTI version, I think only 20-30hp more and they would have been really fun cars to drive, while still being more fuel efficient than most other cars. However, they accelerate quite well at lower speeds up to 50-60 km/h I also agree have owned I think 13 or 14 cars and it is by far the cheapest car I have owned when it comes to ownership costs. I would definitely have kept mine if it wasn't for the fact that I needed a towbar and unfortunately they can't be put on those cars. Would also say they are a good tenth car, when you are tired of spending money on cars and just want something to get you from A to B cheaply.

The one real downside to this car is how darn noisy it gets as you pick up speed and spend more time behind the wheel. For the rest, it's everything you need, especially in a busy city like the one I live in.

Disagree with the thrust of what you say. Long ago, round about 2012, I had the use of an Aygo for about 10 days. What I really liked about it was that it was fun to drive. The relatively low power wasn't an issue. You don't need lots of power or great performance for a car to be enjoyable and fun to drive. I own an MX5 Mk1, which proves my point. As it happens, my daily car is a 2006 Yaris 1.0, with the same engine as the Aygo. The only reason I chose a Yaris was that it was better appointed than the Aygo/C1/107, ie the doors close with a thunk rather than a clang, just a more expensive car really. But not as much fun to drive as an Aygo.

I've got an Aygo, which is about my 15th car 🤣I live in the hills and it struggles with them, but on a straight road it pulls great, till about 40mph. I'm a touch over 6ft, the height of the car is fine, but it's getting in that I touch the steering wheel, but it's no biggy. The things that annoys me, is the glare off the dashboard onto the windscreen. The other main one is, the panels around the doors, I know it's low spec, but it's going back to the 80s.
