Nice easy puzzle. I did indeed solve for the 8 in row 4, column 3 based on the "mini X Wing of 8s in blocks 5 and 6. I never had to consider the subsequent equivalent mini X Wing of 1s. I was more advanced than you were in other areas, and placing the 8 in row 3 simply allowed me to finish the row I had already completed the top part with only a 27 pair remaining to be disambiguated in the middle row of block 2. I went about solving the puzzle rather slowly, and finished in 8 minutes.

When slow = 8 minutes, that is impressive. Thanks for sharing, Georges.

Solved without the mini X wing, but also minimal notation needed. Nice puzzle

    The first puzzle in each round is just a warm-up, it seems. If I did this ten times, I would almost certainly do it in ten different ways, as the options are so numerous and the restrictions so few (47 = row 4 column 7): 47, 28, 31, 29, 35, 11, 37, 36, 18, 23, 21, 17, 27, 87, 57, 67, 15, 16, 82, 79, 99, 89, 52, 66, 51, 92, 73, 83, 81, 93, 42, 41, 44, 75, 74, 85, 84, 65, 43, 45, 46, 25, 26, 95, 94, 56, 69, 59, 63, 53, 68, 58, 64, 54. Here's one way the grid can be beautified without greatly changing its difficulty: 012 300 000 080 400 000 076 500 098 000 000 067 000 080 000 140 000 000 230 007 810 000 006 020 000 005 430 012300000080400000076500098000000067000080000140000000230007810000006020000005430 HoDoKu rating: Easy 244. Easy, eh? So no notations? We'll see. (Later) It took me 18 minutes, not bad for me. 4:10 I think that 9s were the first digit that I completed. Also, about economical -- I'd say my marking was quite economical. 6:30 Did I find the mini-X-wing? Unfortunately, no and a lot worse: the two 81 dominoes were my final four digits.

@@SmartHobbies No, I prefer a clean looking puzzle done with pen. I'm alright with taking a bit longer to solve in order to have the aesthetic of a clean looking puzzle when finished. To each their own though.
