I didn't like the application fee for the grant either. Do you think this takes away from their credibility? I am trying to research to see if applying for the grant is worth it. Do you know anyone who has won a grant from them?

@danitho If there weren't such a robust website surrounding the grant, then I would be more suspect (I haven't changed my mind about the fee). I'll post the link in this reply where they list recent grant recipients - I don't personally know any of them - then go ahead and explore the website to see what you think about it. Thank you so much for this amazing walk through. I'm curious. When you say that they will hold you to what you say you will use the money for. How do they check up on you? This would be a deciding factor for me in how much control they have over what I use the money for after receiving the grant.

This grant fund wants to build a community of female entrepreneurs through these awards, which means they will follow up with you for stories and photos if you win a grant. Here's an overstated example: If you apply for funds to build a marketing campaign, then win the grant and use it to buy new clothes, they'll find out because they will follow up and ask for feedback on your marketing success with their money. Once they see that you don't have a story, they have the right to ask for their money back (This is true of all grants; I've seen it happen). @KombuchaLiz Fantastic! All the best for success with the Amber Grant! I just checked the website, and see that March is Food and Beverage grant month as well (ambergrantsforwomen.com/business_category/restaurant-food-beverage/)! In terms of commercial space rent, the Amber Grant might cover that, depending on the grant category. Otherwise, check with your local economic development office for opportunities they have (directory: www.eda.gov/grant-resources/economic-development-directory). You've also given me an idea of how to focus an updated video on grants for small business. :)

The Amber Grant is a scam. I completed the application earlier this year, in the manner described , told my authentic story , paid the fee and never heard anything from them.

Honestly, just because an application is submitted doesn't mean that a grant is awarded. So I don't think it's a scam (if you watched the video, you saw my frustration with having to pay a fee). And there are plenty of grant funders that never respond to all the applicants, unfortunately.

@LiveOnPurposeTherapy I don’t like the fee to apply, but it appears that they receive applications and regularly make awards. I’m not affiliated with the company, but I’ve seen thousands of grant websites, and this looks a lot like them. Does that help?

Can you tell me which country you are working in? Geography is an important consideration for grant funders.

I wouldnt trust this. I paid for this and I didnt get any type of notice of a winner. Just out of $15.
