The part with, have a plan about keeping one specific surface clear/clean for a few weeks until it forms a habit, is soo mind-blowing, like so easy and logical but thanks for saying it out loud... One step at a time ❤️

So glad it was helpful! Yeah, in some ways it's kind of an obvious thing, but saying it out loud and doing it intentionally really helped me.

I always keep my spaces clean and organized. However, that's become a lot of work. So... I am working on decluttering.

100% agree on the intentionality of it and how difficult it can be when others in your home don’t share the same feeling on the subject matter.

Thank you so much! This is great. Please keep making such videos. And yes I am one of those who feel overwhelmed by stuff I have but then I also don’t have the heart to remove most of my stuff. Can you also make a deep video on what video or podcasts or books were able to help you to have a minimalistic mindset? That would be great help. Thank you!

Great video!! All of these are great tips!! Still a major work in progress here, but funny you should mention mug decluttering. I did that the other day and have listed some on eBay. I was having to stack some of my drinkware on the counter, and I was like...obviously, I need to get rid of some of these. It bothered me every time I had to see it on the counter. So, yes, things do talk to us!! 🙂

The intro makes me think I'm not a typical minimalist. I can actually feel perfectly relaxed in messy surroundings, although I still would prefer it tidier, and I do maintain minimum tidiness and house hygiene. A too empty home is actually worse and can make me uncomfortable. But minimalism have several benefits, it helps save money and save the environment. And a tidier home is easier to move around in, things are easier to find and less time is spend on cleaning. If done right it can also be visually appealing and I think your house is. But I still have lots of decor I wouldn't get rid of because I actually really appreciate it. Maybe I should go through some of the extra stuff I neither need or appreciate to get rid of it, its mostly the effort and practicality in how to dispose of it that keeps me from doing it. I also care about the environment and recycling things correctly or passing it on to someone else, that's an extra challenge since I dont have a car so cant drive to a proper recycling place for things like clothing

I would like to think there is not such thing as a “typical-minimalist”. We are all different. We might have the idea in our minds of what minimalism could look like but it is not one size fits all situation. It’s not about spaces being empty but about them being mindful, useful, and holding the things we really use and love. If you love the decor items, keep them! Use them and enjoy them. At least this is how i see it. Liked your comment!

Minimalism is about becoming the BEST YOU...keeping things that make you happy and getting rid of things that don't so they don't drain your energy. I eliminated 2/3 of my belongings when I downsized homes...and my 1/3 is still more than most people have. BUT, I love everything I have and it takes minimal time to maintain. It sounds like you have found what works best for you. ♥

Maybe it's your voice or maybe it's the beautiful background music...or maybe even your very house. Anyway, I hope you keep doing what you do and I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you and your work. Supporting this channel all the way from the Philippines!!! ❤️🇵🇭

I am also blown away with the simple idea of focusing on one surface (or space) to clear regularly. I would love that to be my dining room table, but I might have to work my way up to that. Thanks so much for your wisdom and life experience that you share.

I got rid of alot of things. I am not a Hoarder mind you but I was a sentimentalist. I got rid of Books, and Clothes and the like because I had no use for it. I didn't realize that I had more than the same thing. Books about how to play a Musical Instrument and the like. I got rid of Mugs, and stuff I got at Trade Shows, and I got rid of alot of Hygiene products and got fresh new things.

I have always had many things & always got compliments on how homey it was. Now that I am older it is too much to keep up. Sooo, I am reducing what is out. I must say that your videos invite us to keep what we love. In my opinion some others clear out too much & every room echoes. 🤦🏼‍♀️
