I quit my job to grind cash for about a year but ended up picking a job back up just because of how great the friday and Saturday night games are, it can be a slugfest during the weekdays. Plus I'm able to study while at work when we are caught up. I make about the same playing poker just playing on the weekends as I was when I was grinding non stop, we have to pay hourly here so yeah, maybe I'm not professional but I'm making more money now than I was when I was living exclusively on poker

    Going pro is a terrible idea for the majority of people. It means no insurance, no benefits, no guarantee of stable income. Additionally, the game changes when you are playing for fun versus playing for you rent money(at least it did for me). Do you want to spent 40+ hours a week in a casino or front of a computer screen? Here's the thing-if you think you can go pro, there's a decent chance you can. But if you have a solid career or job, and can play 10-20 hours a week in your spare time, and make a profit, stay with that. Its extra income, its arguably more fun, and it will be a lot less stressful.

  • @derek4177

    @derek4177

    2 жыл бұрын

    Exactly but on top of all of that, the competition is already so ridiculous and high, that it doesn't even make sense anymore to start a "pokercareer" anyway. You would be competing against very experienced players since years, who use almost every available tool to get the best results. They analysed and improved their own games since years and adapted it and at the same time they know how to analyse your game and now to adapt to it. To learn all of this, it requires lots of money (for the tools and everything), it requires a lot of dedication and time as well and then you are just approaching an equal knowledge at that point and you havent even played. I assume not even 2% are winning players. By far the most are losing.........then you probably have like 10 - 20% who are breakeven and a very small percentage winning. In times like this with bots and so many programs, it becomes very unattractive to "just play poker for fun", because you are at such a disadvantage and there arent many anymore like you "who just play for fun".

    I believe another important point for going pro is to play the games you can beat. Up your stakes to challenge and improve but build your bankroll from the games you can beat. Oh but just playing lower stake online tournaments will mess your game up lmfao. Cuz those players are really bad hahahaha.

    I'd love to try Odin, but at 200$ per month after discount? Come on guys, let's be serious, that's not for the average low stake / mid stake players. It looks definitely a great tool, but totally overpriced for most of us. 2.400$ per year, and I still have to pay the same amount every year, really? At this price you could at least provide a lifetime licence. And even if you do, still super expensive... That's a shame...

    Tip from an ex-pro: don't become a pro, period. Poker is a challenging game which can be very lucrative but the grind lifestyle is terrible, and one day you wake up with your 6/7/(8 for Fedor) digits bankroll and the money just isn't worth it anymore. That's why a huge number of ex pros turned to cryptos, KZread, coaching, or back to normal jobs. In poker you become a rich robotic gambler and that's not fullfiling at all. And that's obviously the best case scenario, only few will make it. Peace.
