wait a minute, did you say if the light is closer to the scrim, it's going to be softer? When the light is closer to the diffusion/scrim, it's going to create a smaller source of light which is a harder light. The further away it is from the scrim, it's going to create a bigger source of light, which will wrap around the model more, esp for a 12x12.

Guy is a poser, well at least doesn't know much technical stuff. He said in another comment he used a slower shutter speed so his strobes wouldn't have to work as hard and wasn't expecting motion blur. LUL wut, clearly doesn't understand OCF.

Great presentation, just one question. On the last concept, how do you make the light fall so nicely on the floor without weird highlights bouncing back.
@picturemanvlogs9581
7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! and good question lol it wasn't planned really I normally just let it fall on the ground how it wants to as long as the subject is lit nicely. It's a solid color backdrop though so the highlights bouncing wouldn't be too bad for me. Also, because I have the magnum reflector it focuses the light so that to can mainly just go on her and not the backdrop. If you use a soft box or other modifiers it may be different with how the light falls on the floor. Hope this helped!
wow! such great work and thank you for the great insight! One question - in de second light setup the blue gel is not seen on her face because of the other light right? because this look is just awesome!
I use the same setup ... love your presentation

Hello, this is a great informative video. Thank you. I have a question though. With the first set up - how can one avoid the stripes of light on the top left corner? Can it be done by settings or just turning the light/s slightly away from the scrim? (enough so there is still light behind the scrim but enough so theres no stripes).
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great model ❤

For the first setup, what focal length did you mainly use?
Let’s gooooo
Your heating up bro
Would love to have the space to run a 12x12, my studio is not quite large enough. Would you not of been more efficient light output wise if you ran reflective umbrellas fired in to the scrim? Can imagine a lot of light is lost with bare bulb.
@picturemanvlogs9581
Жыл бұрын
Lol my 12x12 is definitely overkill for what I’m trying to do but you can use smaller scrims for sure. As for lighting the scrim you can use any modifier depending on the outcome you need. I didn’t really lose a lot of light because I had the reflectors on there to more focus my light. I also wanted the outcome to be a more dull look and feel but if I turned the lights up a bit more or changed my settings you would see a difference.

just curious why you chose 1/125 ss v Canon's sync (1/200 or 1/250)? do you find C-stands work better than straight leg stands? ive got straight leg and feel more comfortable with the wider base. did you build the cyc or was it some sort of pre-fab? i dont have one (yet) and have been thinking of building my own. just not sure of how to make it a 2-wall with the compound curves in the bottom corner of the walls and floor. nice vid. i liked it
@picturemanvlogs9581

For the shutter speed, Since my model wasn't moving as much, I wasn't expecting to have any motion blur. So I had my shutter a little lower so my lights wouldn't have to work as hard. I prefer C-Stands because of the distribution of weight to each leg, for example; if I'm using a heavy modifier, the larger leg on the C-Stand can provide a stronger support to the modifier, where as with a straight stand all the have an equal distribution of weight which increases the likelihood of my flash and modifier toppling over. Also, sand bags are easier to put onto a C-Stand One of my studios Co-Owners had the Cyc wall build. I'm personally not very handy so I let him take care of those details specifically. A recommendation I have is to do some research on it on KZread first and maybe that would help you decide what to do. I'm Glad you enjoyed the video!

To remove the red dot in a couple of clicks, follow these steps. Open DaVinci Resolve, go to the Color tab, choose the "Dead Pixels Fixer" effect, select the "Place Patch" mode, click on the dot, and it will remove the red dot from the entire video.

Hey there! I used the software CAPTURE ONE. It's great for seeing the images live (tethering) and you can also edit colors, exposure, highlights, temperature, whites, blacks etc while you're doing the shoot live so that you can know what it will look like for post production.
Hey, could you please suggest some good picture editing apps...
Great video! Question, made you go with the 125 shutter speed versus 200

@@picturemanvlogs9581 The shutter isn't going to impact your strobes at all. If you have a black frame it doesn't matter if your strobes are 1/125 or 1/200. Also, the shutter isn't freezing the motion, the flash duration is.

Hey I did in the description
I did like first clean look good job on that man! On second look it was cool to use blue gel as it gave cold feel hence she wear jacket! Only this I didn’t understand use of silver reflector as light was coming from right side and your assistant was nearly at same level as light was so it didn’t look that it done anything at all for image! Or at least I had that impression! But anyway I love BTS content!
@picturemanvlogs9581

BTS is the best kind of content for us to learn, well at least me! As far as the setups I really just played around with lighting and see what sticked for what I was going for. Thanks for your feedback I really need it

1:20 isnt that backwards? The closer the light, the harder the appearance. Imagine the extreme scenario, if the bare bulb is right up against the scrim, you'll only have like a 1'x1' circle of diffusion vs if they are far away you get the full 12'x12' of diffused light.

Yeah I had to correct myself in the comments 😭😭
Its giving Banana Republic
Sorry, The farther the lights are to the scrim doesn't make the light more contrasty, because the scrim is the light source, not the flash heads.

Lol…please for the safety of your talent use medium rollers or combo stands with sandbags to support large scrims that are over the head of talent. C-stands really are not made for that usage.
