Thank you for putting this information out there. I am a Grandma in England of two autistic grandsons. One is a Gerstalt language learner and uses Echolia. We totally get his Echolalia now.

Your video was so helpful! Your examples of Gestalt language processors are exactly how my grandson (6y/o) communicates. He was diagnosed with autism at 2 1/2. I am sending your video to the entire family, Thank you!

Thank you, we are just learning about this, in the 7-8 years my kiddo has had speech this has never been mentioned, and she presents all of the signs. We just went OOD, and the SPL there pointed this out. It's so crazy to think we were told her comprehension was off, but how can you comprehend if you don't know the words? So happy to finally have something new to try and see if it helps.

#Replay Parents of 2, watching from Chicagoland. On the 0-5 scale, maybe a 1. Upon request, my youngest child's SLP recommended a couple KZread channels where I could learn more about gestalt, and this video popped up in the suggestions after having seen a video by Meaningful Speech. Looking to learn as much as possible from everyone that's available.

Oh I'm so glad this information went so well with what your son's speech therapist said. This is so encouraging that more people are talking about gestalt language processing!

The echolalia was very strong for several months. Now it’s more like chunks of his own words and definitely says things to himself and still speaks jibberish then laughs to himself…

Do you have any advice from my 4.5 who HASNT said any words yet. Gestalt really sounds like him. He repeats 10sec parts of his favorite show, bubble guppies, all the time! He sometimes makes noises during the inflections

My daughter is a gestalt language processor. She is nearly 3. I am querying whether she is also autistic, but I don’t think she has the other typical traits . Does it follow that she is likely to be autistic? Thanks

No. A child can be GLP and not autistic. My girl is a GLP and not autistic. None of my friends s autistic kids are gestalt. All are analytical

Does a gestalt language learner always mean the child is autistic? I did not think it did but you make it sound that it is.
