I’m not that familiar with the orchestra version… but I love the harp version. It sounds better than piano transcription hahaha

Absolutely! I read your title and the first thing I thought of was “The Moldau”. It simply can not hold a candle to the orchestral version. As you get older, I think you say... “I don’t like it enough to spend that much time with it” for many pieces. Don’t be shocked, “Ceremony of Carols.” I simply don’t like it. I’m happy to hand a gig on to someone who loves it. Any of Renie’s longer works! So tedious; I think her small pieces are timeless genius. My favorite works : Damase’s “Sicilienne Variee” and Francaix’s “Jeu Poetique”

Salzedo...Ballade. I counted 549 pedal changes and I'm never going to play a harp piece that has more pedals than the Debussy Danses. I learned La Rossignol by Liszt and performed it twice... it almost killed me.... every moment I'm worried about missing a pedal. Damase..flute and harp sonata. ...I love it but...I can't afford to have my harp rerivoted...Posse...8 concert studies....he has you moving 3 pedals at the same time! He obviously had 3 FEET ! Ps. Chiara I LOVE that you put your pedaling in slightly before their use... nothing maddens me more than the editors who put the pedaling in late or slightly AFTER the accidentals......EEEEEEKKK!!

Hahaa I love your humor, very funny! Posse made me having a tendinites for a week, so I said NO THANKS. I'm not mad about Salzedo in general. Well done for learning La Rossignol!!!! I'm super picky where I place the indications for my pedals, I'm glad I have your approval😅😅

watching this video made me realise how little, as a non-harpist (but plan to get one within next year), I can recognise or know classic harp repertoire. I think it can sound great, just can't name a piece can only remember mostly piano & violin / concerto pieces. would be interested to hear your take on essential listening for classical harp repertoire ...

Hahaha another idea for a "scandalous" video! I think the harp repertoire is actually very poor and "narrow minded". We'll see!

Very interesting video! So far, my favorite arrangement for harp is Metamorphosis II by Philip Glass arranged and played by Lavinia Meijer.

Oh, I would *LOOOVE* to get to that level where I can say I don't fancy putting in the effort for this complicated piece cuz I don't really like it, though I could *totally* nail it if I really tried!!😊

Thanks for video! Could you tell more often about music you like? Your descriptions are sooo warm and affectionate! Could help to discover and love more pieces. As for me, I would never practice a piece I'm not in love with. Without love it turns into mental exercise. Totally agree about Aranjuez! Though it's always interesting how another instrument can adapt, to enjoy this Concerto I prefer a guitar performance. I don't like how Bohemian Rhapsody is arranged for harp and being performed hither and thither almost twice faster than in original. Sounds decorative and way too chamber. Doesn't work without a choir! :)

I wonder if "Aranjuez" could be played by those Paraguayan harpists. They totally fly through their pieces!

I never understand why so many play the Rodrigo instead of his gorgeous Concierto Serenata that was actually written for the harp. Agree about the Moldau too. Chatelaine….hmm, I still have a soft spot for that one! My fave is Legende.

I laughed when you said "The Moldau." I am an orchestral musician and no one likes to play The Moldau. The only reason to listen to The Moldau is to see if the 2nd oboe misses the low d-flat or not.

I'll help you out with the English word you were trying to come up with. It's "fluidity". Pronounced floo-eh-dity. I learn so much from you I thought I could help with a tiny thing for you. Your English is loads better than my lingua Italiana!

Sometimes you get strange neuroses and aversions to certain pieces that you were more or less forced to do by your "great professors" at the music academy during your studies. No more comment ...... ;-))

I'm sorry for you, it seems it happens a lot! I feel that many teachers give students hard pieces (technically and musically) before they' re ready for them!

Danse des lutins. Too many pedal changes for a little piece that doesn’t even sound impressive.
