3 Paul Gilbert & Marty Friedman Licks From 2006

Музыка

Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Paul Gilbert & Marty Friedman Licks From 2006. I actually had an entirely different lesson slated to create today, but I noticed this candid video featuring Paul and Marty from Japan in 2006 on a friend's Facebook page yesterday, which spun me in an entirely different direction and led to the creation of this episode.
This lesson features some tasty ideas coming from both Paul & Marty which came from a double-hitter video from Japan featuring both of these shred guitar legends. During the video, this dynamic duo shared plenty of raw jamming together along with sharing a couple of licks from each player, before heading back to some additional jamming and various candid moments on camera.
The ideas shared here include one of Paul's signature position-shifting pentatonic sequences, an exotic hybrid pentatonic phrase from Marty, and much more. While there were literally dozens (and dozens) of slick licks and cool ideas floating around during this footage, it was honestly pretty hard to decide what to snag and feature in this lesson, but this episode features a handful of the licks/ideas that I felt really stood out.
Needless to say, there are plenty of great ideas circling under the fingers from both of these masterful guitarists and I'll fully admit that I've learned countless things from studying the music, educational material, and various other avenues from both of these guitarists - so dive into this lesson and grab some new ideas for your playing as well!

Friedman’s lines & bends are brilliant & also why he’s so unique. Every solo on Rust IN Peace is perfection. The only album I’ve ever felt like that was Diary of a Madman.

You're knocking it out of the park, David! Another fantastic lesson. I love that you changed the albums from second heat and rust in peace depending on which guitarist you were covering.

That game show was Rock Fujiyama, Marty's own TV show that ran for several years. It centered around guitar games with celebrity guests like Kerry King and Herman Li.

That "game show" is either Hebimeta San or Rock Fujiyama. Both hosted by none other than Marty Friedman. That's his show! Paul is a guest there like every other episode, but Kerry King was there as well. Great fun to watch and on youtube!

Yes make a video lesson just focusing only on paul gilberts scalar sequencing patterns he used with scales. I'm trying to learn more scale sequencing from paul gilbert, George lynch, marty friedman, randy rhoads, etc.

Two of my most favorite guitarists and influences. Love it! How's that Berhinger preamp working out for you? You should try to find a used Digitech preamp from the 90's, like a 2102 or 2120. I wish you would've posted the link to this video. I'd like to see it.

Regardless of what Dave Mustaine says about Marty Friedman, he was the best lead guitar player in Megadeth ... listen to the recordings with Marty and then listen to the recordings with the others ... night and day difference ... Chris Broderick is an insane player but his leads always seem to be off in someway or another ... love the content !!!

ive been coming up with lots of hybrid pentatonic, chromatic, arpegiated, classical, hybrid (scales) licks like an idiot sevant lately and they are all musically correct.. i wish i could sit with you for a while and show you. you could really flesh out my ideas and use them for your late night lessons. im not as skilled as you but i can play pretty decently at least halfway decent i think. been playing for about 35 years but i dont read music or know theory but i know how to play what sounds correct to mine and other people ear. im not tone deaf at all. ive been working on a way to use only passing notes outside of the pentatonic scales and only using the main emphasis notes in the pentatonic and flamenco to mix all 3 ideas together for a real bluesy, flamenco(spanish or harmonic minor heavy on the blues and chromatic where you can hear the harmonic minor influence. im 50 years old now and i didnt have the chance to make my musical dreams to happen although i think i really couldve possibly made it happen when i was younger and had the drive and was more skilled then but if i could leave this skill or idea behind when my time is up then that would be a great accomplishment. my mark on the world.
