The last case changed child visitation laws in the state of Washington, my state. All supervised visits are done at a secure, public location. The entire state was heart broken over this case. The way he mutilated the boys, caused them a massive amount of pain, before they died from the smoke. Only an evil man could do that to his own children.

Just because you are the biological parent, when you are a piece of shit, you must not have any kind of right towards your kids. Hell i have heard rapists granted rights over the kids their victims had from their rape. This is a sick society we live in. Victims have zero rights...

I watched an ID episode on this. I cried. Its so sad how those boys lost their lives. Any crimes against children is devastating. Nevermind Susan has never been found. When the social worker called 911 when the dad locked her out, the dispatcher who took the call was an arrogant asshole that didn't take her seriously and delayed a prompt response from emergency services. He now has to live with that memory of the call and how it ended.

Criminally Listed is, in my strong opinion, the best true crime channel on KZread, and still nearly half the comments here are from philistines complaining about the narration. There's always "True Crime Daily" if you prefer your true crime delivered with peppy, showbiz-inflected, glib voiceovers. And if that's not exploitative enough, there's always classy Nancy Grace. Won't need to turn her up to ×1.5.

Could they have gotten there in time? Even if police and fire were dispatched the instant the worker placed the call (which would be impossible), they probably would've still been too late to save the boys. From what it seems, Josh already doused the house in gasoline, since the worker reported smelling it on the emergency call.

Why on earth the rest of their family failed to noticed this and then relied on the government to keep those boys safe is beyond me. I cannot even fathom leaving nephews/grandchildren of mine in that kind of situation. Let's place blame where blame is due, eh? It starts at home.

How creepy would it have been if Susan found out her father-in-law was ridiculously obsessed with her? Thousands of written pages, 4500 photos? I don't think I've been in that many photos my entire life. And then he goes on national tv to say he probably loved her and it was "mutual". All of this plus publishing her personal diary, probably edited to tarnish her memory. Disgusting. Apparently both her husband and her father-in-law were both sick bastards. Those boys deserved so much better, as did Susan.

The last story, that family lived right down the street from me. It was crazy. Apparently Josh bought the shovel the day of the camping trip. And then later, the two little boys started drawing really horrible pictures of their mom's body in a hole, and so the police began searching the mines out in Nevada, but were never able to find a body. And I believe Josh killed the boys because they were getting to the age where they could speak, and he didn't want people to know he was the murderer. But that's just a thought. And the dad was a creepy dude all the way around.

@blacksesamecandies *he wasn't defending the monster, only offering a logical flaw in connecting shovel to murder!!* So chill it with your anger - the shovel sort of argument is always easily broken down in the court the way Anhedonian Epiphany did. Same with the missing dead body - they can't exactly "prove" murder if there's no dead body found (anything could have happened with the woman - maybe she did run away, maybe she's still in a basement, maybe maybe...until it's confirmed she is in fact a dead body), so Josh might actually not be convicted. It's a double edged sword in general - it can save an innocent man...or let a guilty man walk out. The world of laws is much more complicated than the naive "HUR DUR I'M PRETTY SURE HE'S GUILTY COS THE CIRCUMSTANCES SUGGEST SO". In this case of course Josh turned out to be guilty, but in general, unfortunately, murders can be overlooked because of these "logics".

I have no sympathy for _this_ guy, but if every father simply _accused_ of sexual misdeeds against his children, in a battle over custody, was denied access, there'd be a hell-of-a-lot of completely innocent fathers, and children who need their good fathers, denied any contact for outrageously long and painful (for both) periods of time. Anybody found guilty of manipulating children to make false sexual claims, against _either_ parent, is also a child abuser and should be locked away for a considerable stretch. This kind of abhorrent bullshit tactic is occurring _all_ the time, yet few people spare a though for the damage it causes!

In the last case, why on earth wasn't the presence of blood drying on the carpet brought into question? Surely they could have traced Susan's DNA from this and matched it with other DNA from inside the house. Also, if Josh sped off into the night on a camping trip, why wasn't his vehicle searched as soon as the boys mentioned that he said their mum was in the trunk? He must have killed her in the house then drove off to a secluded spot, burned the body and buried the remains. What a sick and twisted family he came from. No doubt Stephen knows a lot more but his evilness will stop him from revealing anything and giving some peace to Susan's family.

@@mrsmekae Well...we know for a fact that is never going to happen so we have to take precautions. More people on Earth, and more of them crazy everyday. Too many contradictory messages to young girls these days about this kind of thing. Be it the lie that everyone is exactly equal, and that women are as strong as men on average alone creates a problem. Where chivalry was once allowed, today you are more likely to be called misogynist than thanked for offering to help, or even have it accepted. Anyone that cares about women would tell them to not be out alone at night. Women and children are supposed to be held to a higher respect. Women bring new life, and children are vulnerable . Even prisoners that murder people consider the losers that attack women and children to be unforgivable.
