These DIY kitchen organization ideas can give you some great home storage in your kitchen cabinets. Under the sink storage is always a mess and building pull out trays helps keep everything organized. Cookie sheet and cutting board storage can be difficult, but adding sliding dividers and adjustable shelving is great for keeping things tidy. And tupperware storage is always a concern. Having pegboard plastic container storage makes for some easy kitchen storage configurations to fit whatever you need it to.

That under the sink storage unit, I'm thinking that is going to make plumbing repairs really complicated later. I've had to fix/replace drains and hoses too many times. Also, sometimes you need to inspect to be sure nothing has sprung a drip or two. I'd make the back of that mostly open for easier viewing and access later. You don't need a solid piece all the way across you could do it with two 2inch pieces top and bottom and still be sufficiently sturdy.

I made the two drawers on the right side and left the left side in small tubs that can be pulled out easily .... but the other two drawers are extremely easy to keep everything in them and pull out when needed. :)

I just wanted to say that I had an original particle board drawer in my kitchen that broke for the third time and regluing it or brackets would not keep it together any more. So I built a drawer out of plywood. I took careful measurements off the old drawer, used the original glides, AND IT WAS PERFECT! Slid in like it was greased. So doing these kinds of things is not out of the reach of someone with very, very basic skills.

When I did mine a few years ago, I took the added step of rotating the disposal and re-routing the pipes to increase usable space under the sink. Some plumbers installation is based on their convenience and not on avoiding wasting space.

I just built new cabinetry for my camper, and being the plumber, as well, I took great pains to be a space conscious as possible, to get as much of the drain piping way agains the back wall. It helped us gain a lot of space under there for such a tiny kitchen.

Hey Brad, one more idea, install one of those under cabinet drawers that open at the floor for things like racks and cookie sheets. Would love to see one of those projects too. Nothing hard but you want as much storage as you can get, right? Easy and wasted if you don't use it.

By the way, this was a brilliant project. I just did the same, using scrap for everything, although I did have to buy the rails. A few weeks ago, someone threw out the slats from their bed. I used those for the frames. My wife loves the results. This is a stopgap, because I'm going to build all new cabinets over the winter and then redo the kitchen top to bottom next spring/summer. Your channel has been great for ideas and instruction.

Agreeing with several comments below about the left side of the under-sink. This will be a pain if you need to get to the plumbing, particularly as you fixed that down before installing the right hand side. A removable shelf set would be recommended. So, the assembly would need to be able to fit back out the door opening. For stability, you could try a base that extends past the insert to the back of the cabinet (and if necessary, a piece of wood screwed to the back of the cabinet so the assembly cannot tip forwards, so the base is prevented from going off the floor of the cabinet). In effect, making a removable shelf assembly. Otherwise, nice job, especially the pull outs on the right hand side.

If I could ask you, what type of slides would you use to add a sliding shelf that will be mounted on top of a fixed shelf (if that makes sense). Its going in a walk in pantry on the bottom shelf. I was just planning on using an 18"W x 15"D x 1/2" ply. I will add a rear lip to keep things from falling back. Seriously daunting when you start learning about the different types of slides. The thing I like best is that you separated or segmented the area underneath the sink so that nothing can go beyond where you can find it. Nobody likes reaching back there were on the pipes and wires are anyway. I might have to do that. The best I’d come up with is just to keep things in those plastic wash basins and not have anything actually sitting on the floor of the cabinet, but actually having a “wall” to keep anything from getting past it is WAY better. Thanks for the idea and “how to”!

I could really use new pull-out. Having them on the bottom would really make everything so accessible. Love the peg organizer too. Can we swap kitchens? Please!

I by no means am a build anything person, but I do love watching you. Really good instruction, a bit of humor and good tips. I love all the tools you demonstrate too. Any job is easier with the right tool. Not that I'm ever going to buy all those, but the ideas are great for when I can hire someone to "build that" for me. However, I have to say, calling all plastic storage containers Tupperware is like calling your refrigerator a Frigidaire or a facial tissue Kleenex. Tupperware, Frigidaire and Kleenex are brand names, not descriptors. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. You do you.

Looks great Brad. Quick, easy and well organized. You didn't mention the most important thing though. What does the Boss think about it? Keep 'em coming sir.

The last idea with the peg board would work also as a dish drawer you would want to also make sure you used heavy duty drawer slides to help accommodate the weight weight thicker pegs ??
