When it’s all said and done you’ll look back at this as a great learning experience. More older and experienced people will point out all the cons of what you guys are doing but I’m a firm believer that most younger people have to see for themselves. You guy’s will be just fine, just keep grinding, be safe. pay your taxes, don’t get complacent, keep your head on a swivel and good things will happen.

While I won't be going into prime leasing, I'll definitely be implementing some of the team-driving strategies you shared. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and expertise. The trucking companies have mastered how to rob us blind. I can no longer accept less than just to pretend I'm a business owner. If I can make just as much as a company driver. Why should we keep paying for these trucks and staying on the road. This was a perfect break down my brother. It has really helped me realize. I'm going home with my family to get me a local job. I can accept that. I'm done helping companies pay for trucks with no real difference between company pay versus us o/o

FYI most big carriers employ drivers to be relief and recovery. If you will be off over a week, you can hire a relief and recovery driver to drive your truck until you come back to work, and what they earn covers your truck note and that’s how you don’t come back in the hole

$70k for a team is not great. The truck is running most of the time so the risk of a catastrophic accident is 2x as much as solo. A solo driver should be able to net $400/day or $120,000 for rolling 300 days in a year.

Leasing is never worth man. If you want to responsibility of a truck with none of the reward then it is for you. Stack your cash and just go finance a truck, prime already charging your 3 times more than what the truck is worth and if you really wanna stay with them once your get your own truck you can lease onto there 0/0 side. When I first started my career at prime i wasted my first 4 years leasing at prime, never going home, barely making more than company drivers unless I trained and ended up paying 200k for a truck I will never own before I wised up, got myself a 50k truck payment only 900 a month instead of over 5k like prime and I get home all the time instead of once a season. Dont waste as many years there as I did man, please come off the prime coolaid.

I fell for the "own your own truck" kool-aid too...then the warranty ran out and the repair bills ate me up. Load revenue hit a slump and that was it. Won't own another truck again. I love driving and I love the freedom of doing lease over being a company guy with forced dispatch and not having the freedom to go and stop wherever I choose to and to go whichever way I choose to go. You might pay more but coming from dart and going to prime and seeing how my truck was in ans out of the shop in less than a day, they do offer up some superior service and amenities compared to where I came from, so much like a 7/11 you pay a higher price for convenience. I only signed up for an 8 month lease to check out the difference between a Cascadia and my old t680. The fuel mileage and their steep discount in fuel makes it worth it for me. Fuel is where your money is at and where it will always be. Just did my first load and the rate for load revenue was better than where I came from. My fleet manager is amazing and so far I have nothing bad to say over here. It will always be what you make it. I know some people are still sitting around in Springfield and haven't left saying they have no loads, but I just showed up in person to the line up and was offered a load within 5 minutes straight out the gate. If people are sitting at the yard enjoying the steaks, massages and the gym room it's by their own choice and I don't blame them...I know my money will be going to the massage therapist and the chiropractor over there 😆

What if I told you that you could be making that driving solo booking your own loads. Also drove teams for a time and was knocking out 6000-8000 a week on a dedicated account (before I became an owner operator). If you're happy where you're at then great. But keep in mind you are leaving money on the table. My record sits at just above 14k (gross) for the week

@@1rakimtrucking the company I'm leased onto is a small carrier and requires you to bring your own equipment. They do have some trailers to rent but don't think there are any available as of right now. They are extremely selective on who they hire on and require 2 years experience minimum. Booking your own freight isn't for those that aren't self starters and can be a challenge in bad freight markets (like right now). Let me know if your still interested and I can point you in the right direction

the mileage overage is because the loads pay zip code to zip code and not address to address... the mileage overage is what you see as your lease completion bonus. your numbers are spot on... BUT THIS IS TRASH when you can make this or more as a trainer and not have to split it or make that amount for the month as a solo driver. Not trying to dim your progress but solos net 2k a week not driving nearly as hard. Keep learning .. it's not a bad company at all but you'll see the loop holes after a while.

I’ll put it this was very bluntly. Everyday that you’re not on the road driving, you’re going to be in the whole $1,000. I drove 6 weeks, took 3 days off, and it took me a full 2 weeks to recover. That meant a paycheck of $0 and then next week a paycheck of $300. I then drove for another 6 weeks and after taking off 3 days, I ended up staying for an extra 5 days because of an illness. So in total 8 days off the road. I didn’t receive a paycheck for 6 straight weeks. This is my opinion, but prime is out here conning the lease drivers. I quit after the 4th week of no paycheck. And then get a $350 cleaning note for the truck. Its an actual scam on some con artist type level. Watch out bro.

I explained why it was like this the market is bad. And we went through truck maintenance i repeated that so many times bro. Your 90k is not my 90k you have bills to pay I don’t. So we can’t compare local and otr please understand that. I’m happy your home and got a nice job tho but I can save 75% of my income that’s unless you are living rent free and or under someone roof which is not a problem I just don’t have the luck you have if it’s that. Thanks for watching bro. I’m going to make another very soon now that market is picking up!

@@1rakimtrucking fully aware that you explained the market and rates. Watched the video twice. And yes, you are correct on the differences. If you're happy with that pay and the life style that goes with that, that's good for you. The amount of money a person needs is drastically different from person to person.

Everyone in the comment sections makes 6 figures a year, home every night and off weekends lol. It's a story as old as time, everytime someone posts a video detailing their pay in trucking, someone always posts this same comment, it never fails. I'm not comming at you, I would like to understand. What makes you guys do this? Is it to gloat or are you trying to offer useful information, genuinely curious. This industry has so many different variables, everyone's tax brackets will vary wildly. To be honest it always comes off as " I make more money than you for less work, i'm doing better so I don't understand why you're driving". I just don't get it...
