The slingshot mechanic is something that doesn't sound like much at first especially since you need to stop to wind it up but idk guys.... it easily became my favourite addition to this game as a means of gaining top speed instantly. It really helps that you can pull it off literally anywhere even when it doesn't make sense physics wise like the top of ESB or the Avengers tower. For example I usually do it at the start of chase sequences and I almost always instantly catch up to the target and get that takedown prompt, and another time in the Lizard chase I over-shot him and went so much further ahead that the game thought I lost him and failed the mission lmao. If only we could slingshot mid-swing then we'd be seriously cooking.

@@aozf05 I'm pretty sure a full windup gives better speed like how charged R2+X combo has two different kind of vertical jumps depending on how long you press and hold but even the weakest slingshot is pretty damn fast, much more than the web-zipping + point launch combo at standstill anyways. The dedicated slingshot ramps provide the best speed from my experience. All in all some feedback on the adaptive triggers would've been nice for finding that sweet spot to letting go tho.

If anyone tries to tell me that Spider-Man 2 (2004) or Web of Shadows still had better swinging I swear

@AdityaSinha-ed3uw well now we’ve reached a point where there’s more depth to the swinging than we’ve ever seen. With Spider-Man (2018) it was still very much comparable to the previous games since there were not many new additions aside from the point launch and nosedive. Now, there’s no disputing that Spider-Man 2 has more options for traversal than ever before. It also takes more skill to master than ever before as well.

But with lower assist levels, especially zero, it can be more of a challenge to stay airborne and build momentum. It's nothing revolutionary, but it is very rewarding and personally makes me feel like I'm playing the Sam Raimi movies, I love it

I havent seen much of this game, but I can't believe they accurately replicated the animation style of spiderverse with Spider-Man Noir. Thats amazing

1:54 is so satisfying and is so perfect of a glide

i love the feeling of playing on 0 assist but the fact you stop in your tracks as soon as you hit the street is so unfortunate. i wish you could run or slide your hand across ground while swinging to keep the momentum. playing on 1 lets you float above cars while still having mostly full control while swinging which i think is gonna be my preferred way moving forward

What I try to do is fly as close to the building as possible and try to hit R2 a lot earlier. With low buildings, that's still a pain in the ass though, so I try to web glide in those areas. I like the challenge though. I also play football games on manual because that way you have to think about your passes.

I saw many swinging video, but this is insanely smooth swinging especially 2:27 I love how you mixed up many move and how this vid under 5 min full of satisfaction You're of the the best

Yeah, and it's weird only Miles has challenges he can re-visit at the end of the game, but not Pete. Something I feel was missing from both the previous games was an arena survival mode, kinda like how the Batman Arkham games had the Iceburg Lounge challenge maps.

Races should have been an easy addition especially when they improved the traversal this much

Once I learned that there was a swing assist mechanic I turned it off entirely just to get better at it and enabled fall damage to ensure I don't get lazy. It's... led to some funny moments and deaths 😂

What people who never played these games probably don’t know is how addictive the web swinging becomes. You could be swinging around for 30 minutes at a time and forget that the game has a story, side quests, and local city crimes to stop. 😂 Insomniac is on another level, man. They must feel blessed to be able to work on Spider-Man. At times in Spider-Man 2, with the addition of flying into the game, it made me think they’d love to make an Iron Man game. Wolverine is next for them, but I’m sure they’ve already been thinking about the other major Marvel characters as well. At this point, Disney now trusts Sony more than than they trust their own studios after the recent marathon of Disney flops in films and games. Sony always strikes gold with Spider-Man, Across the Spider-Verse was a masterpiece.

Can’t wait for this to come out on pc in 2 years. It’s actually crazy how fast you’re able to go compared to the first 2 games

I personally think that Spiderman has the coolest mode of mobility amongst all superheroes in the world. It is very clear that it inspired Attack on Titan's ODMG gear as well.

Bro capes are so FRICKIN COOL while web winging. The only downside to the cape suits is that they noclip through Spider-Man during cutscenes

I have completed the first spiderman ps4, I know how difficult this is. This is art!

This is the cleanest swinging ive ever seen gyaaaaaat

going to 0 assist is insane. it feels like you’re a rock sinking to the bottom at first but once you measure the height and speed and become used to it you can’t go back

It’s unreal how Insomniac keeps improving the web swinging in these games. I went back to play the first game after this just to see how it felt as a reminder, and yeah, Spider-Man 2 just feels way better which is saying a lot because the first game still feels amazing. Spider-Man 2 is just much more fluid and looks way better. I also noticed that if you test Spider-Man: Remastered in Fidelity and compare it to Spider-Man 2 in Fidelity, Spider-Man 2 has way better frame pacing which results is a smoother 30fps than the first game. I still prefer 60fps of course but the 30fps option is much better in the second game for those who prefer the maxed out visuals with the ray tracing.

Peter suits aren’t that great Miles last suit was embarrassing No enterable buildings/ apartments No replayable enemy bases Stealth might Aswell be non existent No good boss fights outside the main story like (Tombstone, Taskmaster etc) Crimes in the city are basically all symbiote enemies after you finish the story which doesn’t even make sense and is annoying Quick time events are mostly gone outside the story The symbiote tendrils are stuck to white after the main story which is so stupid. The main story isn’t even that good, it dropped off after Kraven is gone let’s be honest. The whole end of the world monsters everywhere thing was so lame. It’s like it turned into a zombie game. Venom wings were so unnecessary and just didn’t fit. There’s a lot of issues with the game I won’t lie. Personally it wasn’t worth me buying a ps5 for.

If they did this game with no realism at all they would just make Spider-Man any way they like and get rid of all sense. I think the reason behind the webs not being able to bend similarly as in Spider-Man 2 PS2, which came out 19 years ago, is that it was too difficult to optimize. This game has so much going on already, so it would probably be too much. It's not a big deal, if there isn't stuff like that. This would just open new ways to traverse and do tricks. I think, it's good to have some ideas. Maybe the devs will realise that themselves, as they did with the new web swinging assist and the fall damage option.

I find it oddly satisfying that the cape doesn’t fall over his head when he’s falling.

Its really satisfying when Pete goes upside down and hes like 4 inches from the ground when youre on 0 assist.

this is the greatest videogame i have ever seen in my entire life. i have not played it. i havent even played a game since gtav came out. but this is it. holy. Fuck. edit- i played MM on ps4 yesterday - swinging is tougher than i thought and im not as fluid with it off the bat as i hoped. i wish there was a zipline targeting thing u could do to say pull u from the ground to the top of oscorp. it seems like he doesnt stick to some places. its probably still the best game i have ever played. i hope someday i can get my hands on a ps5
