What I like about Anna's weekly therapy videos is that instead of just explaining, she also provides actual steps we can act on to improve our mental health. I'm truly grateful for that.

It's important to note that while this kind of thinking definitely affects your behavior and how you interact with the world, that does not mean that these thoughts fundamentally affect the reality of the challenges we face. Positive thinking isn't going to solve climate change, or wealth inequality. I only point this out because a lot of people, upon learning how powerful thinking is, apply the concept incorrectly and do what some call 'spiritual bypassing', a process in which someone avoids confronting an existing problem by trying to think it out of existence.

For months, I've been trying to prepare for a YCS (Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series tournament) back in my home state, which I haven't been back to in 2 years. But I kept self-sabotaging my training because of overconfidence and, subconsciously, feeling like I didn't deserve to, and couldn't, travel there and win. Because it would be a massive change to my status quo, and part of me isn't ready for that change, I think. My point's that this was a pretty timely reminder that there's some stuff in our heads that needs addressing, and thanks. And your hair looks good.

I spent the last 3.5 years of my life drowning my own demons in a more positive outlook in life, basically following these steps, though taking the time to observe sunrise and sunsets. It's been a long hard road, but I started to see results after about 18 months. The self assurances got easier, I was able to believe what I was saying just that little bit easier, I was reviewed with kindness and positivity at work. I started to see real life changes in my workplace, and my interactions with friends. but enough about me, I love the new hairdo. Thank you for all your helpful videos. I've been able to put names to my issues because of your hard work. I've been able to properly explain my neuroses to my friends, thanks to your wonderful videos. Thank you Anna.

I definitely agree in having a positive attitude. I just hope that someone who watches this realizes that we live in a world and communities and families that actively go against these ideas. That is to say, the onus in not just on the individual to “improve” but really we should be demanding more of our community and governments .

Definitely fall into the worthlessness category, and in the past I did rely a lot on self-deprecating vs self-appreciating, particularly for humour sake. But I'm slowly starting to pivot away from that into a more positive mindset, granted, it's taking years and lots of therapy, and I still have a long way to go. But it's really worth it

I think I struggle with "helplessness" the most, I sometimes believe that there is a wall preventing me from connecting with others, or that I don't have the "vitality/motivation" everyone else seems to have and that it is why I can't achieve a lot of things.

I really like your videos! I just wanted to mention that saying “stop” out loud to repetitive thoughts is actually counterproductive. It’s an old belief that it would help prevent unwanted thoughts, but it actually increases them (there’s been a lot of studies on this for OCD). It’s more effective to acknowledge the thought and accept that you have this thought and recognize that it’s not true.

For some people changing their own thoughts about the self is enough. For others, getting into how they started those thoughts works for them. And some need an outlet to practice thoughts into action during their work towards changing thoughts. I like Anna.
