My husband and I are about to buy one of these from the 70s for storage. I'm kind of excited! We will be the only people in our area to have a building like this.

We used to use these in the AF. Commonly known as "ATH's"-- Air Transportable Hospitals. They can be configured in many different ways (operating room, dental room, etc) depending on how the inside is equipped and can be "joined" with other units and temper tents. They were really slick back in the day. Not sure if they still use them or not, but it would make a very cool hunting lodge, tiny house, or a great workshop !!

The 3-in-1 shelter is not generally used for living space. It is designed to be loaded onto a cargo aircraft and transported to the deployed location. My experience is that it is used for the Command and Control Center. You can live in a tent. Your computer systems need to be in the 3-in-1 shelter. A small team puts this up in no time, with the hydraulic lowering of the flooring sections taking the longest. They were designed for a specific purpose and perform very well for that purpose.

These have been around for a long time. We had 6 to 8 of them at the mining camp I managed. they can be configured any way you like from shower/bath units to kitchen and prep units to mechanical or tech offices. they are available in soft or rigid sided and there are even automatic deploying ones you can deploy with the push of a button r from your cell phone... and yes the are spendy. Anywhere from 8 to 70 thousand depending on the application and equipment in the unit...

What do you do with your stuff , like your bed your couch and table chairs and all when you fold it up?

Love your design proposal. It may also work in with a modular concept that I've designed for community concept utilizing 1 acre plots. Your system would word well for setting up these 1 acre camps in remote areas. It will take all of use working together in these N times. Vid to follow. You've really worked out the bugs.

This is absolutely the way to go, i would love one of these, of course it needs a great sound system, flat screen and awesome king size bed, en suite wet room and induction cooktops powered by solar panels, pump up radio antennas and a flushing Toilet, but hey.....The potential is there !!

That´s awesome; with some basic improvement it could be a habitational solution !

Now this is a great design! You could add sun to water machines solar vacuum tube water heater and TEG's and a capacitor bank with solar panels on top and make it a stand alone shelter. You could even make a hydroponic green house with this design with all the plant led lighting and water pumps and do on to market with your shelters has apocalypse survival shelter. Would be great for disasters. Concrete slab, something level an solid, mobile crane, start the trucks rolling. Should be able to get two on a forty foot container chassis. Already have the means for handling them at any shipping port.

got a 50 foot long model on regular tires sweet off the grid instant home all ya need is hydralic rams and sky house.

You could make a cement vault then put these shelters underground has well! Are these modular?

@weaponeer If I may recommend, you could always buy a cheap but nice 5th wheel camper to bring to your property. Never done it myself, but I've read a lot into it, and seems like a cost effective way to live.

nice, 1 man setup. will probably be back to3-4 man setup after we break them. i like the ladder, that's a great improvement over climbing up the dolly set.

These have been around the military for a couple decade. Look up army spam. You can get one with a dolly set for about 10 - 25k. They even make them chemical rated.

Lot better than the 3-in-1 shelters we had in field hospitals back in the 80s. Took a crew to assemble because half the medics were female. The roof seals leaked and replacement seals were not available. The honeycomb walls rotted. We had to sling load them and we just prayed the sling-load points on the roofs wouldn't rip out.

The most amazing thing is that you could design these to be dropped by plane and they could connect and erect themselves to form an FOB! Tracks on the bottom and electromagnetic locks and you have an instant base! You could even design these to dig into the ground and burry themselves giving people a different kind of shelter! Instant bunkers!

This is awsome....but how much does it cost and how do you ship to Alaska?

We used one of those for a portable recompression chamber in Spain. After a few years out in the weather it was a complete MF'r to open or stow.

I am not sure if the extra expense of adding the electrical dropping of the door makes sense. I would assume this is deployed in special zones where you have several people available to assist. And for people setting up housing in hard to reach places, again it most likely not something you do every day, so a little more effort in the setup to reduce unit cost would make sense.

Are they insulated? What are the prices? Showed no bathroom nor kitchen or did I miss someone on these showings?

is there a house like this that can be inspected here in southern California? I want to see it in person, especially the expanded one.

well it doesn't have any shingles or siding or windows that would be breaking or flying off from winds from a nearby twister. but i mean if an F2 or something flies right over head it probably will toss it. then again if it weighs a lot and is secured to the ground maybe not. seems safer than a regular house at least. (except a basement/storm shelter
