@@frankgraham1996 I really hope not. I love rizzo, but he clearly isn’t the same player as he once was. It’s time to move on at let Rice take the role as our starting 1B. It’s also not Aaron’s decision to make, it’s Cashmans. Boone certainly has a say, but it would ultimately be cashmans verdict.

To be fair, he likely will end up in a platoon. Despite an amazing start, adjustments will be made by opposing pitchers as the scouting reports change. He will have to adapt as the league does. You can't expect him to not go through some regression going forward.

  • @snerdterguson

I mean, he was batting .143 against lefties and historically he hasn't hit them well in the minors. While JD Davis was essentially a cost free acquisition who hits mid .260s against lefties in his career. It was a sensible pickup. I'm not sure why people are complaining about it like he's hogged at bats. Rice has been on the active roster for 19 games and started 17 of them.

This is unbelievable. In the LONG history of the Yankees, Ben Rice just became the FIRST Yankee rookie to hit 3 homeruns in a game. Wow. That is impressive. Now granted, all 3 pitches were out over the plate and probably could've been hit out by anyone, but still. This kid's got some pop in that bat and is really starting to impress me. And MAN did the Yankees need this with all the struggles they've had lately. Going to be interesting to see what happens when Rizzo comes back.
