I love mixed media, so yes, I'd love to see more. I love what you did with that one, and it was my favorite! Also, I wanted to mention that Prismacolor (my favorite colored pencil) also makes a hard core pencil. If you're interested, they're called Prismacolor Verithin. The other thing to know is that Prismacolor makes their own sharpener and it's worth buying for these pencils. It reduces the constant breakage you experienced.

Hey Melanie, I love your ideas. Whatever you bring to your channel, it's all so unique and refreshing. All quirky pieces of art inspire me to fill my own sketchbooks, especially the ones that are more experimental where you try out new styles and media. I would highly encourage you to try out everything you want to experiment with, more. I think the algorithm will automatically understand that and give you the results you look for. And being your regular viewer I can definitely guarantee we'll love watching what you enjoy creating! ❤

I love my Prisma's! And I get what you've said about how soft they are and how quickly they wear down. It really is a downside because they are a little pricey. There are certain colors that I use over and over, and I've been using them long enough to know which ones they are. Fortunately, my local art store sells loose Prisma's, so I just go there every so often and stock up on three or four each of the colors that I use more frequently.

These were so much fun in such different ways. Your creativity has no bounds, it seems. And your ideas are always beautiful AND achievable. I truly admire that in you. And yes, definitely go for posting less often if that is better for your mental and creative health. I know the algorithms prefer creators with crazy busy posting schedules, but to be honest I get kind of overwhelmed if my favourite creators post so often. I just can't keep up, so then videos end up in playlists for later and potentially get forgotten.

If you have wrist troubles I would recommend caran d’ache luminance pencils. They colour like butter, they are so vibrant and soft and I haven’t had breakage problems. They also have great lightfast ratings unlike the polychromos. I think the pencil over gouache issue might be because you press to hard. The trick with colour pencils lots of light layers work great. If you want options for removing the white of the paper you could try multiple layers with blending stumps. Gamsol or zest it moves the pigment into the textured areas. Or you could try Bristol smooth paper to draw on. Those all worked great for me.

In my opinion, Prismacolors really shine when you're shading and doing gradients. I'm writing this before I'm done with the video so you might do more shading in your last piece but the burnishing technique where you do lots of layers is amazing with these colored pencils. That would also eliminate being able to see the paper through the medium

You have your own unique way of braking a picture into shapes, it looks simple at first, but then you take it further and create such an interesting composition, your color choice is also very pleasing to the eye, you really are inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to share your art with us! As for color pencils on gouache, I have had the same problem, the waxy or oily color pencil doesn’t show wel, but I found out that water soluble pencils work much better, I do use them dry though there is always an option to add water. I have visited Austria two weeks ago, I really love your country, it is just breathtakingly beautiful! Wonderful people as well! I’m sending you a big virtual hug, understandably we all feel drained sometimes, when I need to recharge, I usually go to a library, I always find new ideas there! Have a great day and know that you are appreciated ❤️

certain colors of prismacolor are notorious for breaking and that specific green is one of them. Here, I can buy them individually which is really helpful so I usually buy and extra in that color and the Tuscan Red! What I've noticed about prismacolor vs other pencils I've tried is their ability to blend and layer with a finished product that most people can't tell apart from a painting. I've tried several other brands and while I like each for different reasons, that seems to be the strength of prismacolor. I love your mixed media! To get the "painted" look with colored pencils takes forever, I could use this a shortcut. Thank you for sharing I'd love to see more!

With prisma putting down the color in a circular motion helps to reduce the white show through. They are also made for layering starting soft and going over with a little more light pressure. I don’t get along with color pencils because I’m impatient and love to lay down my color once.

Prisma colors have the problem with breaking up into the pencil shaft because they are not all centered properly. If you buy them open stock and can check them yourself , you might have better luck. I've also heard that they can be fixed in the microwave. I don't really know if this works, I've never tried it myself.

I’m still crying for having to pay 500 for these pencils last year, since they simply do not sell in my country. And it was on sale! And it was worth it. Best colored pencils that I have ever used!

I use the prismacolor blender marker which I think is just an alcohol blender marker.

I don't think I've ever seen you use colored pencils before! I love cps - Prismacolors are my favorite - but I love using them most on toned or colored paper, so when the paper shows through it adds to the piece, rather than using them on white paper. Your watercolor underpainting is another great technique, and people also often will use markers for an underpainting. Alcohol and Prismacolors are a match made in heaven! (Fun fact: there was some movie I saw where the main character was gifted a set of 12 Prismacolors at the beginning of the movie. Then seven years later he has a full sketchbook, and he's STILL using that same set! Totally unrealistic!)

The thing is this. Prismacolor were for decades, the only professional USA made colored pencils and European pencils were not widely available in the USA. Si because if tgat they were the only ones known as a professional colored pencil before the were sold to Rubbermaid-Newell Company. Which is when they outsourced the manufacturing to Mexico. To each its own. I have dome sone but hardly use them. I prefer Polychromos, Luminance, Pablo's or Derwent Lightfast.

Please continue your mixed media experiments. Even on adult coloring books. Maybe it will flop. Maybe you won’t like the results. But it will be something new. Something to break the monotony & prevent burn out.
