$75K+ for an electric ride $2.5K for an 8 year/80K mile extended warranty for an electric ride. Price range for EV battery replacement: $10 to $20K+ (That subject isn't usually brought up unless you asked about it when they're hammering away on trying to get you sold on the insane torque and drag strip performance). Personally, I would not be interested in EVs. However, should the situation ever change, then my first question with respect to that extended warranty would be, "Does either the regular warranty or the extended one cover the cost of a replacement battery?" My guess would be no in either case because batteries were always treated as consumables to be paid for and replaced by the owner(s) whenever it was required. IDK. Perhaps, some folks just have to learn the hard lessons in life when not thinking things totally through before they decide to go ahead and pull the trigger on such a cash cow.

My parents had that car for quite a while before trading it in. They never had an option to get a replacement car. Probably had the trans in and out 15 times. And other weird problems arose. It ended up needing a new power steering rack. I have 40 year old mustangs that are more reliable than some of this new stuff and I drive them harder than the new stuff. Unreal how with all the tech we've seemed to have move backward in reliability.

It's been a good truck so far, but I've got some rust on a fender and in the bed I have to deal with. I'm having a hard time finding a body shop that can do anything to help me with the rust, it's too expensive to replace the bed. I think I might just line-x over the rust and forget about it.

Regarding the f-150, the spark issue was addressed in mid season 2008. There were actually two distinct problems, first the plug ports in the head had too few threads and plugs ejected on their own. Second issue was plugs of two piece design with a head deesign that was horrible, allowed the spark plug to get seized up in the hole and then they would break off because of the weak two piece design.Your advice on oil is spot on correct, the 5-30 does much better and oil change intervals of 3500 miles will go a long way to assure a trouble free engine, there is ample testimony on line that supports the advantages of low mileage oil change even if you use synthetics. The thing with the 3 valve is that a CLEAN oiling system is absolutely essential, engine service must be spot on timely. This engine does have weakness in the components of the variable valve timing system and sometimes even with good maintenance they come undone because timing chain tensioner gaskets blow out and the top of the engine starves for oil. The oil pumps are known to have a flexing backplate that causes oil pressure loss at higher RPM. Aside from these issues the bulk of breakdown causes comes from lack of maintenance....meticulous maintenance!

My 2002 F150 4.6 V8 4x4 which I've had since new is still going strong at 450,000 kilometers (250,000 miles approx.) has never had any engine work I credit the use of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic oil. The first half of its life was spent towing 4,000 lb. every day. Eventually had to replace the transmission and rear end but those are the only major repairs in twenty years. Oh, and an alternator, A/C compressor and fuel pump. Other than those items, just regular brake repairs and tires. Would highly recommend Ford F150.

Do you drive it pretty aggressively? Shifting around 3.5k rpm? I know for a fact the DPS6 likes to be pushed, no nanny driving habits. I bought my 2017 Focus S nearly 2 years ago, only got my clutch packs replaced once back in late Feb 2022 at 43.3k miles. The previous owner had it replaced at 28k. I bought the car with 39.4k miles on it. I've really started to get into the habit of driving it aggressively and it works a lot better. Even though I did get my clutches replaced for free (under extended warranty) I still like to preserve clutch life.

I have a 2018 Ford ecosport. I love this little compact SUV. No problems at all. 4 cylinder 2.0l engine with no CVT Transmission. It have 6 speed Regular automatic transmission. 40,980 miles on it. 4 years already. The one thing I love the most about Ford cars is their AC systems. It's so cold to bones. Ford did a great job with their AC systems.

She's got a 36k mile warranty, so its going in the dealer soon, but I'm gonna change the tranny fluid too. But I'm just saying you have basically no miles. the thing with electric cars, you have to drive it casually in order to get better range, and don't exceed 65MPH when your traveling even though speed limit are 75 or 80MPH because the range will go down, and if the weather is nice and cool, turn the AC off and open up the intake vent, the range will get better, and when you approach the stop signs or red light, coast your car earlier, the generator will kick in and charge your battery a little, and light braking for you. if you buy a electric car, get a single motor not the dual motor.

The dealership would have to replace the seals and clutches and then reprogram transmission to shift correctly. We missed out on the recall by a couple of months and were quoted $1600 to do the work at the dealership. Other than that, it was an outstanding car. Great mileage, huge torque and sports car like handling. I'd buy the ST model in a heartbeat with the manual transmission.

Speaking of braking, slow the Hell down before you get to your stop so you aren't putting so much friction all at once on your "breaking" system. Also, it is my understanding ethanol has a lot of water in it that messes up your fuel system, especially if it sits unused. Am I wrong? I can't even imagine spending as much on a truck for which you could buy a small house.

I would never buy anything with the Triton 5.4l 3V ever again. Loved that truck but hated that engine.

My brother and I owned an HVAC commercial ant we got an 08’ and 10’ F150 with the Triton engines. Boy were those two trucks a mistake. The spark plug blew out of the three different times. Finally had aftermarket thread repair inserts installed to the tune of $1500. The top end gave out at 89000 miles. Replaced them with GMC’s and racked up over 239,000 miles with minor problems. Belt tensioner and an alternator, couple brake jobs and whatnot.

My 12 focus transmission and clutch plates were coverd by the recall. The warranty ran out as soon as the trannie went out. The dealership told me it had a recall and it would of been soon that the recall would have been up.

The older 2v 5.4 are actually more reliable the plug problem is there’s like 2 threads, just don’t over tighten them. The 3v have more head problems if you change the oil it’ll be good.

Scotty usually: it says on the oil cap what weight oil to use. The engineers who designed these things know what oil it needs Scottt this time: this truck is an old classic v8 give it the higher weight oil than it sahs

During the summer I just toss very little motor honey in and never had issues, guess just a quart or so of heavier weight works fine.

Your videos are very educational for me. I am a better car and truck owner because of it. Question I’d like to see addressed is - I haul big trailer loads of horses and cattle. What big trucks do you consider the best way to go in three quarter ton and one ton.? My next buy should last me forever.

Hey Scotty. On the 2010 Ford Platinum, what would be an acceptable milage and price? Also, you had a video on avoiding turbo trucks. Would the Platinum be an exception?

I didn’t know the Mach E’s are made in Mexico but I shouldn’t be surprised. In my experience when Ford makes a vehicle in the U.S. or Canada it is clearly marked in the door jamb. So when I see cars like my sisters Fusion that says nothing about where it is made, I am suspect.
