3 Easy 2 Ingredient Recipes!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Surely you can't make a recipe with just 2 ingredients, right? Wrong! I was trying to make another 5 ingredient stonkers video, but had a last minute change of mind in the supermarket and decided to make it even more of a challenge with 3 courses using just 2 ingredients! And, well, here's the results! Ingredients and recipes are below.
If you like this video, check out more recipes with 3 ingredients here: • 2 & 3 Ingredient recip...

Starter: Filled Jacket Potatoes
Baking potatoes
Chicken & sweetcorn sandwich filler
Now I’m a bit protective when it comes to baking potatoes - there’s nothing better than a slow oven cooked jacket potato! Don’t get me wrong, Mrs B and I love a microwaved one if we’re short on time, but that caramelisation on an oven cooked one!
First prick your potatoes with a fork, then rub all over with your usual cooking oil - this oil doesn’t count as it’s needed to cook them! Sprinkle with salt and pepper then move them around to make sure they’re coated all over. I cook them in the oven directly on the shelf rather than in a baking tray, but I pop a tray underneath to catch any drips!
Bake in a 180C preheated oven for at least an hour or until golden brown and crispy.
Now pick a sandwich filler, any sandwich filler of your choice! This is the beauty of this dish, a sandwich filler is basically just mayonnaise with a combination of different ingredients. I used chicken and sweetcorn, but you can pick any you like.
Let the potatoes cool a little then scoop out the insides into a bowl, but don’t go completely down to the skin so it still has some strength. Pop the sandwich filler into the bowl too and mash until it’s as smooth or chunky as you like, then spoon back into the potato skins.
Bake these in the oven until the tops are just browning, delicious!
Main: Garlic Chilli Pasta
Spaghetti
Garlic chilli oil
I had originally planned to do this using chorizo, just cooking that down in the pan to release the oils for a sort of sauce, then the chorizo adding that extra bit of texture. But I wanted to make it suitable for a vegetarian diet too, so this was what I came up with! You could use any type of pasta and get more creative - like wholewheat, green pea etc.
Fill a pan with boiling water, then tip in a splash of your garlic chilli oil. Apparently this is a hack to stop it sticking together, but I’m also thinking that it will start the flavour off and dress it a little when we drain it off - plus we’re going to reserve some of that water for later! Pop in the pasta and cook to packet instructions.
Once the pasta is cooked, pour the reserved water into a smaller saucepan and save for your dessert (I promise this will make sense!), then add a good (and I mean good!) drizzle of the garlic chilli oil. Shake it up, add some pepper and more oil if you need it, and it’s done!
Dessert: Snickers Ravioli
Ready rolled puff pastry
Snickers
Who doesn’t love the idea of chocolate pasta?! Well, probably a few of us, but this is a good one, I promise!
You could use any chocolate bar or chocolate you like here, but Snickers is a good shout as it has the chocolate, caramel, nougat and nuts - Kinder Bueno would be insane though!
Cut the puff pastry into strips, then chop your Snickers into bite size pieces, but save some for later. Lay them out on a strip of pastry with a gap in between each big enough so that when you lay another strip on top, you can seal it (bayaya). Crimp the edges with a fork to encase it, then pop them into the fridge while you make the others.
Bake these in the oven until they go a gentle golden brown, don’t let them go too far!
Now that reserved pasta water comes in handy here! Pop the rest of your Snickers into a bowl over the saucepan of hot pasta water and let it melt down, then drizzle across the top of your Snickers ravioli for an instant Snickers sauce!

My favorite simple dish right now is pasta with butter and Gochujang sauce (not just the paste). Gochujang is made from fermented red chili paste, and the sauce I buy has toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar, and soy sauce added. Talk about flavor town! I think you said some butter was allowed, right? So that makes this a two ingredient dish.

Instead of salt & pepper on the potatoes, I would’ve gone with an Italian spice mix. Alessi makes a “dipping spices grinder” with a good mix meant to go onto oil for dipping bread into that I use. Maybe instead of just oil in the pasta, get a jar of sun dried tomatoes in oil, then you can have bits of tomato in there and that flavored oil in the mix. And I’m not just saying that b/c I’ll regularly do pasta with those tomatoes, capers, Asiago & dipping spices…

Made a jacket potato in my air fryer and it made it even better than in the oven. Crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. My poor oven hasn’t been used since I got my air fryer for my birthday the start of this month. Jacket potatoes are such an under rated food too, the perfect vessel for so many toppings.

@@Boogie_the_catI read the general rule of thumb is minus 10% of the temperature and around 25% of the cooking time for the oven. So for 1 potato I did 200°c for 20- 30 minutes depending the size. I check it after 20 minutes and adjust from there.

Have you ever heard of smash-baked potatoes? For me, that made me eat a lot more baked potatoes recently. Basically, what you do is microwave a potato until it's hot, then drop it on the work surface so that it drives all that steam into the structure of the potato, causing it to burst open and become all fluffy. Once the potato is in this state, then you oven/air-fry it until golden brown and crispy. Absolutely delightful.

When a cookbook says "3 ingredients" but then adds water, salt, pepper, etc. I get annoyed, but when you do it, I love it. I really like the idea of minimal ingredient/effort foods, especially as so many young people don't have a lot of experience cooking and regular recipes can be intimidating. It also helps teach basic cooking techniques in a simple way. Series idea: Minimalist Pantry. Make a list of the bare minimum ingredients that you expect anyone to have, then see how many variations of meals you can make. Like, everyone should have an oil - even if it's just clarified butter, salt & pepper, an acid (wine, vinegar, lemon juice), sugar, and maybe basic condiments like catsup and mustard. Think like you are stocking a cabin rental for strangers for a month and don't know what they'd like or their cooking ability, or like you're sending a kid off to college. Once you get pantry stocked, you can only buy fresh stuff (meat, veg, fruit, dairy) to add - not spices, sauces, etc. You could also do more "simple foods that impress". A simple jacket potato like you cooked, done well, is as basic as you can get, but presentation can elevate it. Just do foods that seem complicated but make them easy, like Lasagne. My mom refused to make it becaue it was "too hard" to make. I was so mad at her when I learned how easy it was, and that was even before oven ready pasta made it easier.

I have done something similar to your dessert before. It was an egg roll wrapper and banana and chocolate, like a little slice and a Hershey's kiss. You could switch the filling for peanut butter or jam. Whatever you want. Then I deep fried them. So yummy!

One of my go-to 2-ingredient potato dishes is salad dressing potato wedges. I get a lot of heck from people until they try them. Costco here in Canada sells Olive Garden Italian dressing (I am sure other dressings are available). Cut a potato into largish wedges (6?) and coat liberally with salad dressing. Bake at 425F for ~25 minutes on convect (450 for longer if you don't have convection), basically until they are done. SO good and dead simple.

You dont need to put oil in your pasta water. It doesnt do anything at all except look like a homemade lava lamp... Just add salt to your water and keep your pasta moving.

I'd simply put some dark chocolate into the pastry, drizzle melted dark choc on top and then garnish with a tiny bit of salt. As for the pasta, adding oil into the cooking water doesn't actually prevent sticking because oil floats and doesn't even have much contact with the pasta. The key is stirring. Stir constantly during the first couple of minutes of cooking and keep the water boiling (a simmer is not enough). And if you really want to use oil, try adding it after cooking and draining instead.

I just tried a 3-ingredient dessert from Fiji called _vakalavalava_ - yes, that is the real name. Got it off of Sorted, easy recipe. 4 cups grated casava root 1 cup desiccated coconut 1can condensed milk Mix ingredients together and place in a well-buttered baking tray(a 9"x9" will do). Bake at 180ºC/375ºF for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Cool, cut, and serve. It's nice on its own with plenty of texture and a mild sweetness. I like topping it with a little cinnamon and a toasted marshmallow. Lush. Edit: Since you asked, I'd use a cark chocolate peanut butter cup in that dessert ravioli. I know Trader Joe's/Aldi North sells them, can probably get them other places, too.

I'd like to see some 1-ingredient recipes, although that would be more like "how many different ways can I prepare one ingredient for a single dish?" Carrots - roasted carrots glazed in a carrot syrup, carrot crisps, served with some kind of carrot puree/"humous" or maybe fermented carrot sauce (like a hot sauce without the heat). Potatoes are pretty versatile as well, mash, potato scones, potato soup, vodka! More just a fun experiment than a tasty meal idea though.

I live in Florida so the oven for a long time is not a good idea lol i always do baked potatoes for 5-8 minutes in the microwave and then air fry them because if it's super hot, i can just put my air fryer on my back porch lol The oil isn't meant to ever go in the water because it just sits on top. The oil that does make it onto the pasta keeps the sauce from sticking to it. if you do want something to keep it from sticking if you're not putting the pasta and the sauce together immediately, toss it in some good oil after, like you did in the video. Also the baked potatoes are called twice baked potatoes! If you have smooth ingredients, you can pipe the mash back into the shell with a piping bag to make it look pretty if you are serving guests or just bored lol

Here are some that I do: Two Bites Brownies (ready made mini brownies) with mini marshmallows (broiled in the over to get the campfire vide) Banana diped in chocolate on a stick then frozen Puff pasty layered up with a hole in the middle filled with jam Rolled tortilla with flavored cream cheese (pinwheel style) Mashed flavored cream cheese potatoes Pasta with flavored cream cheese Puff pastry filled with flavored cream cheese (I do a lot with flavored cream cheese 😂) Couscous with store bought dressing (or sweet chili sauce) Looking forward to another 2 ingredients challenge!

I think stuff in jars is a great meal cheat anyway. You could also get grilled peppers in a jar, or artichokes, stuffed mushrooms in oil maybe, and add that to a pasta. Then you also have some veg at least😄 because although these are great if you're in a pinch I would suggest a little protein and veg for the diet as well. 😂 Hummus as a pasta sauce is also surprisingly good!

'Sandwich Filler' in the UK is what we'd call 'sandwich spreads.' Think the Walmart chicken salad that went viral on Tiktok a few years ago, or deviled ham/ham salad. A vegetarian could probably even get away with cole slaw.

Anyone else initially think he was going to make a starter main and desert out of the same two ingredients? (potato and chicken used to make a starter main and desert) It would be interesting to see that flexibility demonstrated when it came to ingredients. As someone who cannot smell I loathe pasta but fairplay those snickers things look like. Like a chocolate sausage roll.
